There are two types of restoration enthusiasts – one who dials back the clock and restores the vehicles to its former self, and one who gives the vehicles a new lease of life that’s generally on the extreme end of the wild-side spectrum. Here’s one gentleman who believes in the latter school of thought. This man has restored a 1969 Ford F-100 with 1,000 ponies under the hood. In this video by AutotopiaLA, you can see the owner smoke the roads with some pretty long burnouts. After all, that is what this truck was built for, right?

Classy Exterior and Interior On This Purpose-Built Truck

This beast was initially a simple 1969 F-100 short-bed pickup. The short bed versions are quite rare to find these days since they weren’t very popular back in the day, but instead of restoring it to its former glory, the owner turned it into a monster.

Painted in a blue hue, the reinvigorated F-100 looks hot with that low body sitting on custom steel wheels wrapped around massive tires. The steel grille up front with the round headlights scream vintage and it’s good to see the owner not give it modern aesthetic upgrades.

Even the rear looks classy with ‘Ford’ embossed on the tailgate. The truck maintains a clean look and features no extra stickers, badges, or graphics. On the inside, things are as simple as they can get in a truck this old, except for the racing seats with a four-point seat harness and a digital instrument cluster.

What Powers This Beast?

The entire chassis was customized by Art Morrison to make sure this truck can bear the stress created by the thousand horses when worked hard.

This V-8 block is paired to a 16-psi ProCharger Supercharger and is heavily customized to churn out 1,000 horsepower.

Power is sent to the wheels via a six-speed Tremec T56 manual gearbox with a McLeod twin-disc clutch. The owner has also made use of QA1 Mod Series coilovers that help the occupant stay comfy even when pushed hard around the corners. The braking duties are taken over by Wilwood brakes featuring 15-inch rotors and six-piston calipers.

Conclusion

As you can see in the video, this truck is as comfortable cruising around all day as it is when being pushed to the limits and made to burn some rubber. The long burnout is certainly the highlight of the video. Check it out and let us know your thoughts on this build in the comments section below.
