Watching an off-roader and a pickup truck sprint with such ease is terrifying on some levelsby Sidd Dhimaan, on
Sam from ‘Sam CarLegion’ staged yet another drag race, and this time, he brought two vehicles with supercharged V-8s – one’s the Land Rover Defender, and the other, the Ram 1500 TRX. Both of them are mighty powerful and don’t shy away from spreading their wings to take flight. But, how do they fare against each other? Will the lighter Defender prevail, or will the more powerful TRX smash its rival?
That’s Over 1,200 Horsepower Combined!
This Land Rover Defender is powered by a 5.0-liter, supercharged V-8 engine that churns out 518 horses and 461 pound-feet of torque.
An eight-speed automatic gearbox channels power to the wheels.
The Ram TRX also comes with a supercharged V-8, but is displaces 6.2 liters. It makes a lot more power than the Defender – 702 ponies and 650 pound-feet of twist.
Here, too, you get an eight-speed automatic transmission that drives all four wheels.
The Defender Was Made To Look Like A Dacia Sandero!
The vehicles took part in just two races. The first one was a drag race. Both the vehicles were locked in their sportiest settings. They decided to let the system shift the gears. The 700-plus horsepower beast rocketed off the line, leaving its SUV counterpart in the dust. It made an absolute mockery of a tough, well-built, 518-horsepower vehicle without any mercy.
They moved on to a roll race from 31 mph (50 kph) next. It didn’t seem like there would be any difference, but perhaps the Defender’s lighter curb weight could come into play. Did it? Well, no. The Ram was the better one here right from kickdown and it managed to distance itself from the Defender significantly by the time they hit the finish line.
A short race, but definitely interesting to see two beasts take each other on. Watch the video below and let us know your thoughts in the comments section.
