• We Finally Get A Glimpse Of The 2023 Hyundai Kona’s Interior

The 2023 Kona’s cabin seems to be inspired by the Ioniq 5

Hyundai unveiled the new-generation Kona back in 2017, and it remained pretty much unchanged ever since. A new generation has been spotted out in the wild for quite some time now: for example, back in February, it was seen testing in Sweden. Today, the car was caught testing out in the wild once again, but this time, we also get a good look of the interior.

Although the prototype caught testing is heavily camouflaged, it is pretty clear that it will grow in size. And although it will retain its familiar look, there is some design inspiration from the bigger Tucson.

The Kona was the brand’s first model that featured split headlamps, and the second-gen model is set to carry the feature forward. However, while the first generation featured horizontal lower lamps, the 2023 Kona could have vertical lower (main) lamps, as seen on the Palisade and the Tucson.

The few images we have of the interior reveal that the digital screen in front of the driver will have the same dimensions as the one seen in the Ioniq 5. We can also see the vents under the screen, just as we find on the Ioniq 5, indicating that many new Hyundai models, including the Kona, will follow that design language for the interior.

As for what will happen under the hood, we expect the next generation Hyundai Kona to be offered with both petrol and all-electric powertrains. The prototype caught testing was a petrol-powered version, while its electric version sibling will be codenamed SX2e EV, with ‘e’ denoting Europe. Also the codename SX2 N Line has been mentioned, indicating that Hyundai will continue to offer the next generation Kona with a sportier styling package and performance enhancements.
