After years and years of development, the SSC Tuatara is finally coming in 2020, and the North American company is promising a new top speed record for production cars. While an official unveiling date is not yet available, SSC is releasing teaser after teaser for the new supercar. This latest video showcases some of the Tuatara's main features.

This specific car is finished in black and features red accents on various components. It also includes exposed carbon-fiber elements, just like you can get from competitors like Bugatti, Koenigsegg, and McLaren.

Inside, we can see a pair of race-spec seats with multi-point harnesses. The bucket seats mimic the exterior. They're wrapped in black leather and feature red inserts. There's also a flat-bottom steering wheel that's clearly borrowed from the world of racing and a fancy button for the ignition. The instrument cluster is a big digital display, while the center stack incorporates a tablet-style screen that provides access for the infotainment system.

T The twin-turbo mill generates 1,350 horsepower on 91-octane gasoline and 1,750 horses on E85 flex-fuel.

SSC says that the Tuatara will hit at least 300 mph. The American company is planning to set a new world record for production cars, but it will need to do at least 304 mph. The record is currently owned by the Bugatti Chiron Super Sport 300+, and it's being contested by the Koenigsegg Jesko and Hennessey Venom F5 too.

SSC's previous record dates back to 2007, when the Aero TT hit 256.1 mph, surpassing the Bugatti Veyron's benchmark of 253.8 mph. SSC held the record until July 2010, when the Bugatti Veyron Super Sport hit 267.8 mph.
