Westfield Sports Cars is bought by Potenza Sports Cars Ltd.

The Midlands based kit car maker has been sold by the owner Chris Smith, who has built the business up over the past 24 years to become a respectable car maker with a top of the range model the Westfield Sport 2000S. The 2000S can deliver 250 brake horse power and has a six speed gear box, with a price range of £3,000 to £35,000 which shows that the days of the simple kit car clearly behind them.

The company employs over fifty staff on two sites, it is believed that the sale of the business will not effect any of the jobs at the company. Potenza Sports Cars Ltd is owned by the Potenza Group an Engineering, Training and Consulting firm, the deal is believed to have been worth millions of pounds, but no figure has yet been released.

For a small car maker like Westfield it is always going to be necessary to take investors on board, this will allow the company to expand the range by developing new models and possibly even move to business onto a global platform, in order to survive in that type of environment, the company needs a secure financial backer, it would appear that with this deal, this is what they have.
