This is Gordon Johnson's C5 Corvette and it's unlike any other C5 out there. Why? Well, because it's rocking not one, but two brand new LT4s. While your typical C5 is front-engined, the GT SSC is mid-engined and houses the two engines behind the driver.

Chevrolet Corvette C5 "GT SSC"

First seen at SEMA 2021, the GT SSC (Super Super Car) started out life as a 2001 C5 Vette.} But, that's where the similarities end, Johnson and his team spent about 4,000 hours in total modifying the front and rear of the car.

Whats under the Hood?

Well, this has to be the GT SSC's party pieces. Two brands spanking new 6.2-Liter supercharged LT4 V-8s, combined to form a mammoth 12.4-Liters, that produce 1300 horsepower.

The Bespoke Body

It features a brand new chassis in the back to house those two LT4 Vs. While the two engines managed to dit quite easily, it's the giant radiators that needed more room, which is why the rear is so wide. How wide? 87 inches as opposed to a stocks Vette which is around 74 inches.

The GT SSC is sitting on ZR-rated Pirelli tires. The rear-end sure does remind you of some old-school Canam racers. Apart from the 12.4-liter badge, the four exhausts also make you wonder what on earth is this thing. This car is perfectly street legal.

Given that you've got two engines, this car has more gauges sitting on the dash. The view to the rear is also rather spectacular. You've got nine ECMs, which shows the level of trickery that these guys had to do to make it all come together.

To Sum It Up

Only at a venue like SEMA can you expect such crazy creations to show up and this certainly had to be one of the very best out there. I can't wait to see how she runs at Parhump, so watch this space.
