The folks at Carwow uploaded yet another drag racing video, but this time threw an unusual contender in the mix against two supercars. The Lamborghini Huracan and the Nissan GT-R are pit against a Formula 1 car on the drag strip! To make sure things aren’t lopsided, the Huracan and the GT-R are tuned to make 1,200- and 1,300 horses combined! Do they stand a chance against the F1 car?
We’re Talking About Three Sub-10-Second Cars that Make Over 3,200 Horses
The Lamborghini Huracan comes with a 5.2-liter, naturally aspirated V-10 engine in the stock form.
The Nissan GT-R is powered by a 3.8-liter, V-6 engine as standard, but this example features a built engine, which displaces at 4.1 liters. Courtesy of all the other changes made to it, this car generates 1,300 ponies and 951 pound-feet of oomph! The engine is mated to a six-speed automatic gearbox and an all-wheel-drive system.
The final contender is a 2011 Red Bull Racing RB7 championship-winning F1 car. It features a 2.4-liter, naturally aspirated V-8 mill that produces 750 horses. Power is channeled to the rear wheels exclusively via a seven-speed automatic gearbox. The car is mighty expensive, costing around $87 million!
Coming to the weight aspect, the F1 car is, obviously, the lightest of the lot. It weighs around 1,433 pounds and is almost 2,000 pounds lighter than the 3,424-pound Lamborghini Huracan and around 2,600 pounds lighter than the 4,057-pound Nissan GT-R.
The Huracan Obliterated The F1 Car and The GT-R!
First up was the drag race. The cars faced each other thrice, but the result was the same always. All the cars were quick off the line, but the Huracan was absolutely nuts. In the final race, it completed the quarter-mile race in just 8.9 seconds! The F1 car was second, falling short by just 0.3 seconds, whereas the GT-R was a close third as it completed the race in 9.3 seconds, 0.1 seconds slower than the Formula 1 car.
Next was the rolling race from 50 mph in second gear. The Lamborghini, yet again, flew past the two and destroyed them in this one-mile race. It even touched speeds of 220 mph. The GT-R came in second, whereas the F1 car was placed third. The last round was the brake test, which the F1 car won by stopping in the shortest distance. The Lamborghini managed to stop a little behind the GT-R, thus securing second place in this test.
