Some fresh standard equipment is allegedly being added to the C8 Corvette for 2021

Back in January, we explained that you need to have patience and understanding in regard to C8 Corvette production and deliveries. Not long after that, a GM-UAW strike led to a delay in the start of production. Months later, the COVID-19 pandemic grabbed the world by the short and curlies, and now GM has been forced to shut down the Bowling Green factory and put production of the C8 Corvette on hold. All this, despite the heavy demand for the C8 Corvette (part of which is derived from rumors that the 20021 model year would be more expensive). In late January, we also learned that Chevy was canceling some dealer allocations,, and now order books for the 2020 Corvette are completely closed. There could be a silver lining to all of this, though, as you can now order the 2021 model year C8 Corvette and, with it, comes some fresh standard equipment.

The image you see above comes courtesy of Aaron Bradlee Adams, a member of the Facebook group C9 Corvette Owners and a salesperson at Simms Chevrolet in Clio, Michigan. He stumbled upon what you see above in the Global Connect Order WorkBench; software dealers use to place orders for new vehicles.

Highlights of the document above include the introductions of two new interior paint choices – Red Mist Tintcoat and Silver Flare.

These two colors are said to replace Long Beach Red and Blade Silver if we are to believe word from Corvette Blogger. In addition to this, you’ll be able to choose a visible carbon fiber finish and a wide range of colored stripes. The real takeaway here comes under the skin where Magnetic Selective Ride Control will be available as a standalone option instead of forcing you to opt for the Z51 performance package.

On the inside, Apple CarPlay will now be offered as standard equipment across all models, while the 3LT will now be offered with a pair of new seat combinations. A new car cover that looks like the C8.R racecar is now available as is all-weather floor liners. There’s also hints that there will be a limited-edition model on the order sheet at some point that will wear the “Stingray R” name and some visual cues from the C8.R. But, that’s just speculation at this point.

Assuming that the Coronavirus won’t delay things even further, GM is planning to begin production of the 2021 Chevy C8 Corvette in September, and it’s widely believed that you won’t be able to snag even the entry-level model for less than $60,000. When we find out more about pricing or learn how much of what we’ve discussed here is true, we’ll be sure to update you, so stay tuned.
