On March the 10 th 2005, at 3.24 pm local time, the Sportec SP600M broke the produktion road car speed record (SUV-Class), achieving a new official top speed of 191.66 mph (308,45 km/h) at the ATP- proving ground.

A team of five Sportec engineers and mechanics together with founder Ueli Hodel ran, a technically standard Sportec Cayenne SP600M in order to take the top speed record for productions road cars (SUV-Class). Mr Ueli Hodel himself drove the SP600M.

The Sportec Cayenne raised Klemanns official mark of 175 mph (282 km/h) set at Nardo/Prototipo in 2003 with over 191.66 mph (308,45 km/h).

A team of ATP and TAG Heuer technicians independently verfied the speed of the Sportec SP600M. The car was clocked using Tag Heuer`s Chromprinter CP 705 with photocells stationary at the track, recording the average speed during 1 km.

The ATP proving ground is a circular track with a circumference of 12,3 km. This means that the car is driven in a constant turning motion, which makes the exercise and speed even more impressive.

Joint founder of the Sportec Company Ueli Hodel feels happy to finally prove the performance of the SP600M “ This test was very important for us. We reached all targets of the Cayenne Turbo project.”
