Is a Nissan worth more than a Ferrari?

The 2018 Goodwood Festival of Speed is just around the corner, and so are the tremendous sports cars we're going to see at the event. Among them, there will be the most aggressive and powerful Nissan GT-R ever created. It's called the GT-R50 and was design in collaboration with Italdesign. But on top of being the most powerful GT-R yet, it will also be the most expensive at a whopping $1 million.

The GT-R50 is actually just a prototype for now, but Nissan says that a production model may follow. This depends on how it will be received at Goodwood and other events later this year, but based on how it looks and how powerful it is, it should become popular with collectors as soon as it breaks over. Production will be limited to only 50 units, so it will be as rare as they get. But the bigger issue is that it will start from around €900,000, which converts to a little more than $1 million.

That's pretty expensive for a Nissan GT-R.

Sure, it has custom bodywork, extra carbon-fiber inside the cabin, and it's more powerful than the GT-R Nismo. But at the end of the day, it's still a Nissan. Not to mention that the price tag makes it ten times more expensive than the base GT-R and around six times more expensive than the GT-R Nismo it is based on. Heck, it's as expensive as a McLaren P1 and Senna and costs significantly more than any Ferrari out there save for the sold-out LaFerrari.

Is it worth it? Well, it depends on how you look at it. If you can live without the custom bodywork and the extra oomph, you're better off with the GT-R Nismo. If you want a GT-R that very few other enthusiasts will get to own, the GT-R50 might just be the ultimate version of the Japanese supercar. It's also likely to become a prized collectible, so it may be worth several millions of dollars more in a few years.
