Xtomi’s Rendering of the Production BMW M8 Gran Coupe Will Give you an Erection
It’s all of our dreams come to lifeby Kirby, on
The BMW M8 Gran Coupe Concept showed its face at the Geneva Motor Show earlier this month. It’s an attention-grabber in many ways, and if rumors are to be believed, it could stand as the precursor to the actual production model. But, as it is with the auto industry these days, the production 8 Series is still being kept under wraps while automakers wait for the right time to showcase it in all its glory. With time on his hands, the man behind X-Tomi Design decided to get a jump on the proceedings by rendering what he thinks the production M8 Gran Coupe is going to look like. Spoiler alert: it’s awesome.
Not much was changed, but you have to pay attention to the small details that BMW is known for.
Well, here it is. X-Tomi Design’s rendering of the BMW M8 Gran Coupe Concept looks positively stunning. Not much was changed, but you have to pay attention to the small details that BMW is known for. Remember those blacked out trims we saw on the M8 Gran Coupe Concept? They were all taken out of the rendering and replaced with chrome, exactly the kind of material BMW would use on the production model. The chrome touches are all over the rendered M8. You can see them around the front grille, windows, and even the gills on the front fender.
Similarly, items like the door handles and rear view mirror were swapped out for M versions of the same components. Even the wheels were taken out as X-Tomi subbed in the 666-style sets that we normally get from the M3 and M4 Competition packages. You might also notice that the headlights have been tweaked. The yellow rings on the concept version looked cool, but there’s no way that BMW would put them on the production version. So X-Tomi did the automaker a favor by changing the yellow rings to white ones, giving us a more realistic look at what we can expect out of the production M8.
It still looks muscular in a flagship sort of way, yet it also exudes a sportiness to it that the car is going to need if it hopes to make a positive impression on the public
While we’re at it, how about those gold brake calipers hiding behind the wheels? Isn’t that something you’d expect to see from a production M8 Gran Coupe?
All told, the rendering paints the M8 Gran Coupe in a very flattering light. It still looks muscular in a flagship sort of way, yet it also exudes a sportiness to it that the car is going to need if it hopes to make a positive impression on the public. Fortunately, it looks like BMW’s up to the task of doing that. There’s no word yet on when the production model will arrive, but BMW has already gone on record saying that it’s coming sooner than later. On that note, we’ll take our victories where we can get them.
