Yet Another Ramcharger TRX Rendering Screams For Production

With the Bronco out of the bag, perhaps Dodge should think seriously about coming up with a proper rival for FoMoCo’s SUV. That rival could be a revival model of the Ramcharger, and given the recent rumors saying a Raptorized Bronco is coming in the near future, why not make it a Dodge Ramcharger TRX? Dodge obviously has the firepower and a potential platform, courtesy of the Ram 1500 TRX.
Another render, another reason to drool
Since the car world is currently in a revival frenzy, what harm could a revamped version of the Ramcharger do? Known as the Rhino during its developmental phases, the Dodge Ramcharger came to the U.S. market in 1974 and stayed there until 1993, competing against the likes of Chevy K5 Blazer and Ford Bronco.
It spawned two generations in the U.S. and three overall, because the third-gen model was only sold (and assembled) in Mexico, where the SUV’s previous iterations enjoyed massive success.
It’s also interesting to note the main reason why the Ramcharger didn’t live to see its third-gen flourish in the US of A. Two-door SUVs weren’t making that much of a splash in the early-to-mid-1990s, and GM was ditching the two-door Tahoe and Yukon, while Ford was preparing to switch the two-door Bronco with the four-door Expedition. So Dodge did the same.
But the Ford Bronco is back and maybe the Dodge Ramcharger deserves a chance to be reborn, too.
Naturally, it has to have a V-8 engine, that’s why the 702-horsepower, 650-pound-feet mill from the 1500 TRX would unarguably be the perfect match.
Design-wise, it would have to look both tough and aggressive. We believe Abimelec Design’s latest work offers some pretty neat (also doable) styling cues for a potential Ramcharger revived under the brand’s current visual identity.
But as always, we’ll let you be the judges of that.
