With everything that is going on this year, it feels like we’re heading towards an apocalypse. Perhaps, that is why we’re seeing so many converted vehicles lately. Here’s another fine example that was listed on Craigslist. JBA Motors has posted an ad for this 2016 Toyota 4Runner SR5 4x4 Custom that looks Armageddon-ready. The brute has less than 300 miles on the odo, which makes it practically brand new.

This 4Runner Is Ready To Counter All Obstacles

However, the level of protection it offers isn’t mentioned in this listing. Up front, the huge grille features horizontal slats with no badging whatsoever. It has billets nailed all across the body to give it a tough look. The bumper features two sets of LED lighting. The roof befits from the same, too. The 4Runner is painted in a copper hue all around the body.

The SUV rides on 18-inch beadlock wheels wrapped in Toyo M/T 33x12.50xR18 off-road tires. It sits quite high off the ground. A same-sized spare wheel is mounted on the tailgate and covers the right side of the windshield completely. A jerry can is placed next to it in the same copper color as the body shade. It also comes with other niceties such as navigation, rear backup camera, trailer tow hitch, and so on.

This model seems to use the stock drivetrain. The 2016 4Runner came equipped with a 4.0-liter, V-6 mill that made 270 horses and 278 pound-feet of torque. Power is sent to all the wheels via a five-speed automatic gearbox. This mill has good low-end torque, and nice punch at the mid revs. That should make driving this example a little easier when you factor in all the metal armory and the added weight to the SUV. The SUV has clocked just 227 miles to date and the listing mentions that it has never been driven.

Final Thoughts

JBA Motors is asking $35,900 for this 4Runner. This is slightly less than the price of a brand-new 2020 Toyota 4Runner, which starts at $36,020.

Although this SUV looks big and monstrous, the finish is not really the best and looks very flimsy. It seems to be made up of a lot of elements and each of them is bolted on the body without any flow or consistency. While it gives the truck a rugged look from afar, it doesn’t feel like a neat job when viewed up close. But, considering the price it is available at, you can’t expect the world here.
