Back in August, our paparazzi sent us shots of the upcoming Porsche 911 GT3 RS. Based on the latest-generation, 992-spec 911, the new GT3 RS looks hotter than ever, sporting styling and aero features seen on the race-spec RSR model. Come October 2020, and we received the second batch of photos. The 911 GT3 RS is still covered in black camo, but intense testing suggests that the production model is just around the corner.

The 2022 Porsche 911 GT3 RS will be naturally aspirated, but it won't have a manual

But it seems that Porsche wants to stick to tradition and keep the GT3 naturally aspirated and leave the GT2 as the only turbo model of the GT lineup.

Chances are the upcoming 911 GT3 RS will feature an upgraded version of the previous 4.0-liter flat-six. The last 911 GT3 RS came with 513 horsepower and 347 pound-feet of torque on tap, so the new model could be rated at around 530 horses and 360 pound-feet. While a more powerful, naturally aspirated flat-six is good news, there is some bad news here as well. The 2022 911 GT3 RS won't have a manual transmission.

If you like the three-pedal layout, the regular GT3 is your best shot. But a PDK-fitted GT3 RS isn't all that bad if you want the fastest track-ready 911 out there. The PDK is incredibly quick, and it should enable the 2022 911 GT3 RS to hit 60 mph in just three seconds.

The 2022 Porsche 911 GT3 RS will debut in 2021 with an expensive price tag

The 911 GT3 RS usually breaks cover a few months after the regular GT3. The latter was also spotted testing, and it could be unveiled in early 2021. This means that the GT3 RS could arrive in the second half of 2021 for the 2022 model year. Since the old 911 GT3 RS was sold at $187,500, the new-generation model could cost as much as $200,000 before options.
