That’s how you drive the Supra
by Tudor Rus, onThere are cars that are meant to be driven properly and there are cars that most often than not, act like very expensive enhancers for the driver’s ego. Just like its predecessor, the A90 Toyota Supra falls in the first category.
Nevermind BMW’s involvement in the project and those arguing the new Supra isn’t as charming as the model it replaces and not a Toyota anymore. Come sunset, the new Supra looks best with a thick layer of mud on its hips and a couple hundred more miles added to the odometer.
Watching the video below over and over again has brought back some memories. Some years ago, YouTube channel TaxTheRich100 was going viral with video titled "The Ferrari Enzo WRC." Here’s where you can watch it.
In said video, a skilled driver was pushing the Enzo hard through one of the most exciting hooning examples we can think of. The Prancing Horse wasn’t spared of getting dirty while powersliding through muddy roads and puddles of water on the type of road that most of us would only approach from the elevated seat of a pickup truck.
Coming back to the case in point, this short video of the A90 Supra bashing through a forest was created in the same mould. Obviously, the two cars are incomparable in purpose, price tag, and performance. What we learn, however, is that you don’t need bucketloads of horsepower to have some fun and a balanced chassis spiced up with just the right amount of power and responsiveness can take you places. Very fun places.
That said, we hope Toyota sees the video and uses it as inspiration for future ad development. Because every prospective customer looking to land the new Supra on his driveway needs to know what he’s buying. Engine and other bits and bobs aside, the Supra is about joyful driving. And God knows we need more cars like that, regardless of their birthplace.
