Low Riders & Mud Tires: RoadKill Goes Off-Roading

Ok, so a 1980 Chevrolet Monte Carlo might not be a truck, but Freiburger and Finnegan sure treat it like one in the latest installment of RoadKill. The dastardly duo decided that each would plan the trip and buy the vehicle separately – without them knowing the others’ plans. After some failed reverse psychology, the pair ended up with this – the Monster Carlo.

Jeff Gordon Announces Semi-Retirement After 2015 NASCAR Season

Jeff Gordon Announces Semi-Retirement After 2015 NASCAR Season

The Rainbow Warriors will be looking for another pot of gold in 2016 following Jeff Gordon’s announcement yesterday that he will step away from full-time driving after the 2015 season. After 23 years of racing at the top level of NASCAR, Gordon, 43, plans to hand over the reins of the No. 24 Hendrick Motorsports race car.

Despite stepping out of the No. 24 Chevrolet, it doesn’t sound like Gordon is really ready to hang up his helmet and walk away from the sport altogether.

“I won’t use the ‘R-word’ [retire] because I plan to stay extremely busy in the years ahead, and there’s always the possibility I’ll compete in selected events, although I currently have no plans to do that,” Gordon said in a press release.

Gordon, 43, is by far one of the most dominant NASCAR drivers since his debut in 1992, and even though it’s been 14 years since his last championship, he and the No. 24 Hendrick Motorsports team are consistently contenders to win races and championships.

NASCAR Chairman and CEO Brian France responded to the news by saying: “Jeff Gordon transcends NASCAR and will be celebrated as one of the greatest drivers to ever race. On behalf of the entire NASCAR family, I thank Jeff for his years of dedication and genuine love for this sport, and wish him the very best in his final season.”

As for who will be replacing Gordon, Hendrick Motorsports isn’t making any announcements just yet.

Forza Horizon 2 Gets NAPA Chassis Car Pack

Forza Horizon 2 Gets NAPA Chassis Car Pack

Another month has come and gone, so Turn 10 and Playground Games are now bringing us another downloadable car pack for Forza Horizon 2. This one carries the title NAPA Chassis Car Pack, and it comes with six new machines to roll around in. In traditional fashion, the cars cover a wide variety of driving styles and ages. There are two supercars, a pair of classics, a 500-plus-horsepower wagon and a similarly powerful luxury SUV.

The actual cars in the pack are as follows (in handy chronological order no less): 1970 Buick GSX, 1988 Chevrolet Monte Carlo Super Sport, 2002 Lotus Esprit V8, 2014 Land Rover Range Rover Supercharged. 2015 Audi RS6 Avant, and 2015 McLaren 650S Coupe

The AWD and incredible power of the Audi Avant should make it a great all-round choice for players looking to try something different, and the incredible 650S from McLaren will likely find lots of garages to call home. I like seeing Forza still focus on great cult cars like the Lotus and Buick, and dropping in something a little different for those off-road races with the Range Rover seems pretty inspired to me. After reviewing the Supercharged Range Rover myself, I feel like it certainly deserves a slot on the Forza roster.

The pack is available to download today for all Xbox One players, and it carries a price of $5. If you are the proud owner of the Season Pass, these cars are all free. If you just want to try out one of these new cars, the Lotus is available as a separate download all on its own for the low sale price of free.

You can check out a little more info about each car as well as a video showing off all the new machines in action after the break. Be sure to hit those comments with which one is your favorite from this list.

Man Smashes into General Motors' Headquarters

Man Smashes into General Motors’ Headquarters

We all hate what Chevy did to the Monte Carlo following its axing after the 1988 model year. 1988 was the final year for the “Manly” Monte, if you can call a 180-horsepower 5.0-liter V-8 “Manly.” Most of its testosterone came from its throaty V-8 exhaust note and relatively edgy look, when fitted with the SS package.

In 1995, the Monte Carlo essentially came back as a two-door version of the Lumina. It was fattened to extreme proportions in 2000, as Chevy attempted to make this neutered muscle car somewhat resemble its earlier muscular years without adding any real muscle to it. Apparently, some people see these circa-2000 Monte Carlos as disposable machines, as one man decided to turn his into a V-6-powered missile, then launching it into General Motors’ headquarters, also known as the Renaissance Center for a reason unknown to us.

According to reports by witnesses, the driver, donning all black clothing, lined up the car perfectly with the revolving front door. After sitting there for a short period of time, the driver punched the gas on this flabby, 180-horsepower coupe and smashed into the revolving front door. GM was likely pretty happy that the driver chose this car as his weapon of choice, as its 8-second 0-to-60 mph time greatly limited the damage done and the automotive giant expects the damage to be as good as new in just a day.

There is no motive yet behind the kamikaze Monte Carlo driver, but the police do have the suspect in custody and are questioning him. With the craziness that is happening these days, the possible motives are endless. We’ll let you know why exactly this man chose to plow his beloved Chevy into GM’s headquarters once we learn the motive.
