In the rough and tumble world of pick-up trucks, the constant development for the baddest, meanest, and most powerful off-roader is a constant race for automakers determined to build the most imposing of them all and find the one that can be called the kingpin of all-utility vehicles. At the International Motor Show in Buenos Aires, Chevrolet introduced their latest offering to the fold, the Colorado Rally Concept. Next the concept will be making its way to Franfurt for its European premiere.

Based on the Colorado line of pick-ups that are considered one of the most popular in the world, the Colorado Rally Concept is the latest iteration concept that shows the new direction Chevrolet is undertaking for their next-generation off-roaders, particularly those that have rally racing in their future.

"Chevrolet has built trucks right from the start and they are an essential part of our brand. Through its purposeful design, refinement and uncompromising capability, the Colorado Rally Concept creatively reinterprets our proud heritage," said Wayne Brannon, President and Managing Director of Chevrolet Europe.

Power begets power, so they say, and the Colorado Rally Concept has been developed for that specific purpose. It comes with a 5.5-horsepower winch on both the front and rear bumpers with a 23-meter-long steel cable and a 4-ton traction capacity. Likewise, it has been fitted with 140-mm high-performance shock absorbers with a height-adjustable suspension, external LED lights all around, a White Pearl paint finish on the exterior, and a set of 18" aluminum rims wrapped in 305/60R18 tires.

Inside the cabin, Chevrolet dressed up the Colorado Rally Concept with a contrasting interior dash in ash-colored leather with matching orange stitching for the sport seats. It also comes with a roll cage - for rally purposes, hence the name - and a center console that features rally-related items like a tire pressure adjustment switch, a button that operates fire extinguishers, and a control that adjusts the dampers of the pick-up truck. A couple of technological features that are part of the Colorado Rally Concept include an Air Boost system that allows for air in the cabin to be replaced courtesy of a compressed air system, and a Hydration Pack that ensures that both the driver and his co-pilot remain hydrated whilst competing in the middle of a rally race.

The performance numbers of the pick-up’s powertrain have yet to be announced, but what we do know is that this hulking rally racer will come with a 2.8-liter turbodiesel engine, similar to another recent Chevy concept - the 2012 Colorado Show Truck - that was unveiled earlier this year in Bangkok, Thailand.

David Hasselhoff didn’t leave much of an impression on him (that happened later on in Baywatch), but KITT certainly did. To this day, Kirby remains convinced that he will one day own a car with the same ‘spirit’ as the original KITT (not the 2008 monstrosity). He doesn't know when that will be, but until then, he’s committed to expressing his love for KITT, and all cars for that matter, here at TopSpeed.  Read More

I love the design of this truck. The exteriors are perfect and the over head lights are great. Good for outdoor camping trips.

Cool! I think this car is too good for a rally truck! The exterior design is awesome, and simply fits the car. This rally truck concept is really promising!

They are right this Colorado Rally concept is the most awesome pick up cars today! I can’t wait for the market production of this car, but I’m still looking forward to the performance figures of it.

The platform design of this pick up is really impressive. I love this Rally car for being a clever and a classy car. This is perfect for an adventure.

I’ve been waiting for this either for quite a long time, and I’m still hoping that Chevrolet really has the plan to put this gorgeous and sweet rally concept of them into the market!

It’s been a long time since that last time I’ve heard about this Rally, and until now, it is still a concept and I really wonder if they truly have the plan to put it on the market? Well, hope that they absolutely have the plan.

Though it really doesn’t have the massive looks, I can say that it was still looking so stunning and impressive on its appearance. smiley I’d still love the fact that it is so reliable on the outdoor activities.

Wow! What a good-looking truck but unlike the usual massive truck, I didn’t find this colorado rally a muscular one but despite that I can say that I am still so impressed with it.

This Rally concept is not the usual pick up that I already saw, this one didn’t had the muscular appearance instead I have to agree that it really looks so sweet but I still love this one.

The Colorado Rally concept is really looking so sweet on its appearance. I can’t see the usual muscular image that I saw on other pick up cars. However, I must say that I’m still impressed with this.

Chevrolet Colorado Rally concept for me is one of the well establish and stylish pickup trucks I’ve know. I like its giant and aggressive gesture. Truly a next-generation off-roaders also powerful with creative overall concept.

Colorado Rally looks so sweet. I didn’t find it the usual muscular pick up car that I saw. This one is finest and cool, but I’m still wondering about its engine performance.

It’s my first time to see this Chevrolet Colorado, surprise to know that Chevrolet come up with this kind of vehicle. Think this will be a great type of car to ride on when you are in to long riding coast to coast.

  (242) posted on 09.19.2011

Very impressive car. The style of this car is like a jeep and like a hummer vehicle. I think this car is for mountaineering. The horse power is 5.5 very nice for this kind of vehicle.

This concept is really impressive! This big truck seems so conventional, and I love the fact that it is so ideal in an adventure.

  (530) posted on 09.13.2011

Now that’s a big truck what I am looking for. I like it that Chevy provide a truck with a control for the stiffness of the dampers and one to operate fire-extinguishers.

Why is it, it don’t have a performance figure? Anyway, I love the masculine look of this Colorado Rally concept but I think it don’t have a powerful engine.
