Chevrolet->ke199 has a wide variety of trucks at the 2014 SEMA show.->ke216 From the wild to the mild; Chevy brought it all, including this concept called the Tahoe->ke472 Premium Outdoors. It’s loaded with nearly every bell and whistle imaginable; all built on a Tahoe Z71.

The Z71 package, which will be available at dealers for 2015, includes all the right equipment for trudging through off road obstacles. Its part-time four-wheel-drive system and G80 locking rear differential help it power through the slipperiest of conditions. Extra ground clearance and a larger approach angle keeps the Tahoe’s chin from getting bruised.

Besides the greasy bits, this Tahoe has been fitted with some unique features that help it stand apart. A custom paint color called Black Ice coats the body while the parts that are normally chrome such as the grille, window surrounds, roof rack rails, and mirror caps are painted in a color called Cool Tented. The matte-like color accents the bluish-green body color really well. Body-color door handles help keep the monochromatic look going. The grille is also a concept design not seen before on a Tahoe.

The Tahoe rides on Chevy’s aftermarket-offered 22-inch wheels that are painted with the same Cool Tented color to match the body trim. Power-folding running boards tuck under the rocker panel nicely and deploy whenever a door is opened.

Inside, the Tahoe Premium Outdoors enjoys black leather seats with Saddle-colored accents and contrasting Petrol Blue piping. The Cool Tented color is carried inside on the now-suede headliner and carpeted floor mats. Illumined door sill plates, wireless phone charging, a hands-free liftgate, and 4G LTE Wi-Fi also dress up the interior.

Chevrolet Tahoe Premium Outdoors Concept in detail

The Tahoe Premium Outdoors runs a stock powertrain setup, save for the Borla exhaust system with its chrome twin tips exiting on the passenger side. The engine is the standard, 5.3-liter, EcoTec3 V-8 with its variable valve timing, Active Fuel Management, and direct fuel injection. The small-block puts out 355 horsepower and 383 pound-feet of torque to the six-speed automatic transmission.

Chevy did upgrade the brakes with a concept system from Brembo. Six-piston calipers squeeze 16-inch slotted rotors with performance brake pads up front while the stock brakes continue their duty out back.

Chevrolet Tahoe

The Chevrolet Tahoe is all new for 2015, taking after the 2014 changes in the Silverado truck line. It shares the same 5.3-liter V-8 and 6.2-liter V-8 option, along with the six- and eight-speed transmissions, as the Silverado. The Tahoe and its big brother, the Suburban, now enjoy a flat-folding third row that doesn’t require removal to stow. The Tahoe is capable of carrying up to seven passengers in its three rows.

Pricing for the 2015 Tahoe starts at $44,895 and goes north depending on trim level and options.
