This is the Silverado you want if you’re looking to go outdoors and have fun

Proving that auto shows have become less appealing these days, the 2018 Texas State Fair has become Chevrolet’s venue-of-choice in revealing the Silverado RST Off-Road Concept. The unique trail-inspired Silverado is one of four concepts that Chevrolet unveiled in the event. The RST Off-Road Concept is arguably the most rugged version of the Silverado among the four concepts it’s bringing to the Texas State Fair. It’s packed with off-road equipment and accessories to showcase the pickup’s might and adaptability when it ventures into beaten paths.

What makes the Chevrolet Silverado RST OffRoad Concept special

Chevrolet definitely rolled out some fire concepts at the Texas State Fair. The Silverado RST Off-Road Concepts is one of four Silverado-based models that’s in attendance at the annual event, and it’s packing a lot of off-road heat.

The concept starts off with a Cajun Red paint finish. Beneath the flashy color, though is a pickup that’s injected with serious off-road chops. Further on the aesthetic side are illuminated black grille emblem featuring Chevy’s unmistakable “bowtie” logo, black tailgate lettering, and custom black Silverado emblems are all included in the concept. Functional upgrades are also part of the menu.

Chevy adds sport assist steps, a side-mounted bed storage box, and a soft roll-up tonneau cover with the “bowtie” logo.

A new set of 18-inch off-road Carbon Flash wheels wrapped in off-road tires complete Chevrolet’s exterior items for the Silverado RST Off-Road Concept. It doesn’t end there, though, because the concept also features aftermarket accessories from Baja Designs, specifically the off-road Squadron sports lamps and the 40-inch LED light bar sitting on top of the pickup’s bed.

The interior of the concept Silverado also benefits from its own share of goodies. Space was created in the center console to open up some room for a lockage storage box. Likewise, Tuggy Security Products came aboard to provide a rear underseat lockbox, complete with its own combination lock. The all-weather floor liners with Z71 badge inserts aren’t security features, but they do jazz up the cabin of the concept.

The Chevrolet Silverado RST Off-Road Concept also from a number of performance upgrades.

The pickup’s 5.3-liter V-8 engine now includes a cold air intake system.

The automaker didn’t specify if the new setup comes with increased output, but at the very least, having a cold air intake system opens the possibility for the Silverado RST Off-Road Concept’s V-8 engine to produce more than the standard model’s output of 355 horsepower and 383 pound-feet of torque. Complementing the engine upgrade is a two-inch suspension lift kit that adds a bit of ground clearance for the concept pickup. The Silverado RST Off-Road Concept is packaged as the most rugged of the four concepts, and the suspension lift kit goes a long way in establishing that identity.

Unfortunately, none of the four concepts are available as they are. The good news is that Chevrolet isn’t exactly keeping them away from all of us. Beyond the visual showcase, these concepts are here to help us visualize the Silverado’s new accessories catalog. Yes, a lot of the items on the RST Off-Road Concept are included in the catalog. You can’t buy the Silverado RST Off-Road Concept as it is, but you can buy a Silverado and add all the equipment and accessories that you can see in the concept. In a way, you’re in charge of building your own Silverado RST Off-Road Concept.

Chevrolet developed the concept to give you a template of what to do and what to buy from the ever-growing Silverado catalog.

"With a full catalog of accessories and performance parts, we offer exponentially more ways for customers to build their ideal truck," said Hugh Milne, Silverado marketing manager. "And, unlike certain aftermarket components, these are designed, engineered and validated to the same engineering standards as the Silverado itself, and backed by Chevrolet."

Chevrolet introduced a stylized 2019 Silverado High Country today at the State Fair of Texas, highlighting Chevrolet’s collection of truck accessories and performance parts for the all-new Silverado.

The High Country is one of four concepts Chevrolet will introduce this fall, each designed to showcase how customers can accessorize the new Silverado to suit their personalities.

“We know every truck customer is unique, which is why the Silverado offers eight trims, each with a different combination of technology, performance and design,” said Hugh Milne, Silverado marketing manager. “With a full catalog of accessories and performance parts, we offer exponentially more ways for customers to build their ideal truck. And, unlike certain aftermarket components, these are designed, engineered and validated to the same engineering standards as the Silverado itself, and backed by Chevrolet.”

The catalog of genuine Chevrolet performance parts and accessories includes step kits and tonneau covers, illuminated bowtie emblems, cargo bed storage boxes, brake systems and suspension lift kits. These parts were designed and developed along with the new truck, for seamless design and performance integration. GM-designed parts are validated to the same rigorous standards as the factory-installed components, and are warranted by Chevrolet when installed at the Chevrolet dealer.1 Associated Accessories are developed and backed by third-party companies, and are reviewed by Chevrolet to determine proper fitment.1

Customers can shop online for the parts at Chevrolet.com/accessories and choose home or dealer delivery, as well as select dealer installation.

All four personalized Silverado models will go on display at the SEMA Show in Las Vegas, Nevada, Oct. 30-Nov. 2. They include:
