Bless your C8 Vette with that Bosozoku vibe

Widebody kits look good on virtually any car. Whether it’s a drift-spec Toyota Supra or a humble Daihatsu Copen, everything can be tricked out to please the eye with a neatly-designed, flared-out body kit. Including the mid-engined Chevy C8 Corvette, as Pandem was kind enough to demonstrate.

Wider is better

Pandem’s new kit for the C8 Corvette was designed by Kei Miura, aka @trakyoto on Instagram. In fact, this account is where the body kit was revealed in all its awesomeness.

While we’re pretty sure that the way it look will generate some polarizing opinions, the kit looks to us like downloaded straight from a videogame which is always a good thing, right? Not so videogame-y, however, is how much you’ll have to pay for one. That’s $7,000, or $5,800 if you decide you don’t want or need the rear wing – why would you do that, though?

Anyway, here’s a breakdown of the kit in terms of components and how much each costs:

  • Front lip - $1000
  • Side skirts - $1200
  • Front fenders - $1800
  • Rear fenders - $1800
  • Wing - $1200
Visually, the riveted panels add a nice touch if you care for our two cents, but as we mentioned above, this kit might not be everyone’s cup of tea.

On top of that, you’ll have to pay a lot more to make your C8 look like the one in the renders, because you need to add in the wheels with corresponding tires as well as a lowering suspension setup – most likely of the air or hydraulic variety.

But, if you’ll rather go for something less conspicuous, there are some alternatives out there. There’s a kit by Sigala ($25,000) that will turn the C8 into a race car lookalike without screaming too much in your face or the one provided by Xeigen (price unknown), which will up the ante on the supercar-hypercar flavour.

Oh, and for those wanting a more subtle appearance, Callaway is also working on a C8 body kit.

At that time, he was too young to know how they worked and way too young to drive them, but he could see one thing – each of them had a different ethos and their own unique personality. As time went on, he started seeing that in other cars as well, and his love for the automobile was born.  Read More
