2018 Chevrolet Cruze Sport6 SS Concept
Introduced in 2008 as a replacement for the Chevrolet Cobalt (and its Pontiac G5 and Saturn Ion doppelgangers), the Cruze is two years into its second-generation as of 2018. Available in both sedan and hatchback body styles, it’s offered with two gasoline engines and a diesel engine in other markets. But, unlike its predecessor, it isn’t offered in performance-oriented guise yet. This could change soon, as Chevy unveiled a beefed-up concept car at the 2018 Sao Paolo Motor Show.
Powered by an engine that generates almost 300 horsepower, the concept goes by the name Cruze Sport6 SS. The "SS" badge, most famous for adorning the Camaro, is not new to compact GM cars, having been used on the Cobalt SS, a 260-horsepower coupe sold until 2010. On top of the beefed-up engine, the Cruze SS also features more aggressive exterior features and a sportier interior. It actually looks ready to go into production, but the fact that Chevy chose to unveil it in Brazil without much fuss on social media may be a sign that it’s not going into production anytime soon.
2017 Chevrolet Cruze Hatchback – Driven
The Chevrolet Cruze has undergone some big changes in the last two years. For 2016, the sedan moved into its second generation by hitting the gym for weight reduction and added muscle. Now for 2017, Chevy has added a hatchback version complete with all the upgrades introduced a year before. I got the chance to spend a week behind the wheel of Chevy’s new hatch, surmising the little bowtie is darn good at hauling people and their stuff.
Admittedly smitten, I’d venture to say the Cruze Hatchback is a better choice than most compact crossovers. The data proves it, at lease objectively in regards to fuel economy and interior volume. Subjectively, the Cruze Hatch feels light on its feet and doesn’t mind being thrown into a turn. No, the Cruze Hatch’s 1.4-liter turbo-four is hardly a monster, but it appropriately balances power with efficiency. It’s hard to complain about 38 mpg highway, even when the sprint to 60 mph takes nearly eight seconds. So, what’s it like to live with? Find out below.

2017 Chevrolet Cruze RS - Driven
The Chevrolet Cruze was not hurting for fans. As its first generation neared the end of its run in 2014, Cruze sales reached their high point, with more than 273,000 copies sold. Curious, then, that the Cruze suffered a setback in sales when it was redesigned in 2016 for the 2017 model year. Having spent a week with it recently, I can say that confuses me. The Cruze got sexy new sheet metal, a more-efficient powertrain, a new hatchback model, and improved ride and handling when it was redesigned. Yet, it sold fewer than 200,000 copies for the first time ever in 2016, if you don’t count its late introduction in 2010 when it was on sale for just three months. So, what gives?

2017 Chevrolet Cruze Redline Edition
Introduced for the 2016 model year, the second-generation Cruze represents a massive upgrade over the previous model. Sportier and more elegant on the outside, the new Cruze also boasts a roomier interior with better materials that give it a near-premium feel. The new D2XX platform, shared with the Chevy Volt and Equinox and the Opel Astra, as well as the turbocharged, 1.4-liter engine also deliver a more dynamic feel and enhanced fuel economy. Come 2017 and the Cruze receives the Redline Edition treatment at the Chicago Auto Show.
Launched alongside similar special-edition versions of the Malibu, Camaro, Trax, Equinox, Traverse, Colorado, and Silverado, the Cruze Redline Edition is essentially the production version of several almost production-ready concepts showcased throughout 2015 and 2016. The aim is to give potential Cruze customers a few customization options, a feat that’s pretty rare in the non-premium compact segment. On the other hand, the package isn’t available on all trims, which means you need a solid budget to take a Redline Edition home.
Chevrolet has yet to announce when the Cruze Redline Edition will hit dealerships, but said that all these models will become available for purchase by the end of 2017. Until then, let’s have a closer look at what this special-edition version brings to the table.

2017 Chevrolet Cruze RS Hatch Blue Line
The annual SEMA show is just around the corner, and with its imminent arrival comes a long lineup of spruced-up, tricked-out, customized automobiles to ogle and lust after. The latest batch comes from Chevrolet, which just announced plans to drop cover on more than 20 individual models at the Las Vegas Convention Center. Among them are two new examples from the Blue Line series, including the 2017 Cruze RS five-door you see here. Bearing both concept-exclusive and production-ready accessories, the Cruze RS Hatch Blue Line is a mild upgrade over the stock vehicle, and will arrive in Vegas with new exterior styling components, a snazzier interior, a few extra horses under the hood, and crisper handling.
All in all, the hatch is pretty unremarkable compared to the average SEMA car, but it does do a decent job in showing off the Bowtie’s catalogue of accessories. If you’re a Chevy Cruze hatchback owner, then this thing might provide the inspiration needed to start modding.
Either way, Chevy says it’ll debut the Blue Line’d Cruze as a means to test the waters and see how the public reacts. You’ll have to wait until November 1st for the full public reveal, but for now, check out our review for the details.

2017 Chevrolet Cruze Hatchback
Chevrolet has announced its newest model ahead of the 2016 North American International Auto show, the 2017 Cruze Hatchback. Technically already roaming other parts of the globe, the Cruze Hatchback is making its first appearance in the U.S. thanks to spreading acceptance and growing sales of hatchbacks in the States.
“With nine percent market growth in small hatchbacks last year, it’s the perfect time to bring the Cruze Hatch to America,” said Alan Batey, president of General Motors North America and Global Chevrolet. “As Cruze continues to set the tone for Chevrolet globally, it articulates the brand promise of offering cars with the latest technologies, more features and greater efficiency, performance and safety with fresh, distinctive styling.”
The hatchback version of Chevy’s best-selling global car rides on the same all-new platform found under the 2016 Cruze. It also features the same vastly improved interior, updated powertrain, and continues undercutting the previous Cruze’s curb weight.
The 2017 Cruze Hatchback will offer all the same high-tech features as its sedan brother, as well, including MyLink with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot, heated seats front and rear, a heated steering wheel, projector-beam headlights with LED accents, and an interior that features French stitching and available leather surfaces.
In the safety department, the Cruze Hatchback offers Lane Keep Assist, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Side Blind Zone Alert, and Rear Park Assist. Parents can even keen an eye their teen driver with the available Teen Driver feature, which provides driving statistics.
Update 06/16/2016: Chevrolet has announced prices for the 2017 Cruze Hatchback will start at $22,190, making it $195 more expensive than the Cruze LT sedan. The 2017 Cruze Hatchback will go on sale in the fall of 2016.

2016 Chevrolet Cruze Tron Legacy Edition
Chevrolet has made its presence felt at the 2016 Beijing Motor Show, but it’s not for the reasons you might think. Sure, SUVs and electric cars have dominated the scene in Auto China, but the American automaker brought one car that’s neither SUV nor electric. You might recognize it as a Chevrolet Cruze and while it is a Cruze for all intents and purposes, it’s actually a one-off, showpiece that’s been inspired by the 2011 movie Tron: Legacy.
Unofficially, it’s called the Chevrolet Cruze Tron Legacy Edition and it’s a product of a collaboration between Chevrolet and The Walt Disney Company China. So what is a car with ties to Mickey Mouse doing in a place like Auto China? It’s actually simple. For those who may be unaware, Disney’s latest theme park – Shanghai Disney Resort – will be making its grand opening on June 16, 2016. For its part, Chevrolet is the official automotive partner of the theme park and so, to commemorate Disney’s latest theme park – and first in China – Chevy and the Walt Disney Company China teamed up to create the Cruze Legacy Tron Edition as a tribute to both Disney itself and the 2011 sci-fi movie.
True to its roots, the Cruze Legacy Tron Edition is littered with styling nods to the iconic light cycles that were used in the movie. The exterior and interior of the Cruze both received the same two-tone, metallic blue on black finish, the same two colors associated to the light cycles. It may not be the most important vehicle that has been showcased in Auto China, but for the purposes of raising awareness and driving up publicity ahead of Disney Shanghai Resort’s highly anticipated opening in June 2016, the Cruze Tron Legacy Edition might as well be the only car of consequence to show up in Beijing.

2016 Chevrolet Cruze
The Chevy Cruze is essentially GM’s modern version of the Chevy Cavalier here in the U.S. It replaced the Chevy Cobalt in 2008 and saw two updates before being redesigned for the 2016 model year. When the second-generation Cruze debuted for the North American market, it grew in length and width and came with sportier styling cues. The most dominate change came in the form of new headlights, a reshaped nose and new character lines on the sides. On the inside, there is a little more room thanks to the slightly larger size. The infotainment system has been upgraded to Chevy’s second-generation MyLink infotainment system with a 7-inch screen, Android Auto, and Apple Carplay as standard equipment. Furthermore, the car now comes with heated seats in the front and rear as well as a heated steering wheel. Under the hood, we see more improved as Chevy is now offering the Cruze with a 1.4-liter engine that delivers 153 horsepower, 177 pound-feet of torque, and offers a combined fuel economy of 32 mpg.
The second-generation Cruze also brought a change to the lineup as well. The L and LS trim levels carry over, and the LT trim is now a combination of the LT1 and LT2 trims from the previous generation. The LTZ trim was also dropped in favor of the Premier trim as the range-topping model. A six-speed manual will be the only transmission available for the base, L trim. A six-speed manual and a six speed automatic will be available for LS and LT trims, while the Premier trim will be stuck with just the six-speed automatic.
The second-generation model is also spawning a hatchback variant that should be coming for the 2017 model year, and there is still a lot to discuss about this generation as well. With that said, let’s dive on into all the juicy details and see what the 2016 Cruze is all about.

The Chevrolet Cruze isn’t exactly what you’d call a high-performance model. It’s actually far from one, even if you slap an “RS” badge in it. But it is a popular model in North America; Chevy even calls it the ‘cornerstone’ of its North American small-car lineup. The Cruze certainly has a lot of appeal, especially for first-time car buyers. That’s exactly why Chevrolet is presenting the Cruze RS Plus Concept at the 2014 SEMA Auto Show.
The Cruze RS Plus Concept is an “imagine the possibilities” take on the compact sedan. Imagine if you dress it up in this color; imagine if you put this and that material on the interior; and imagine if you add a performance-enhancing Stage Kit to its 1.4-liter, turbo engine. These are all scenarios Chevrolet put together in one package, resulting in the Cruze RS Plus Concept.
Whether or not the American automaker has plans to offer it for production is the question at hand. The company didn’t specify its plans, but considering the new options it presented as part of the whole package, I’d be surprised if we don’t see it offered in dealerships soon.
Hopefully, the Cruze’s status as Chevy’s “cornerstone” small-car is enough reason to justify these new options being made available to the public.

The Chevy Cruze was the second-best selling car in the U.S. in June 2013, just behind the Toyota Camry and up 73 percent versus the previous June. Something about this little car is suddenly resonating with consumers since its arrival as a 2010 model across the globe.
The 2014 Cruze is largely carryover aside from a new turbo-diesel engine option that can deliver huge fuel economy for only about $1,500 extra. And this isn’t your d9iesel engine from the 1990s, as this economical four-pot sprints nearly as well as the gasoline-powered models.
The rest of the line is still going strong with Eco trim levels for the 1.4-liter turbo and an RS package available on top LT and LTZ models that includes special wheels, badging, bumpers, a spoiler and sill extensions.
What buyers are discovering is an affordable four-door car with mechanical refinement the previous Cobalt and Cavalier couldn’t achieve even when turned off and in park. This latest Chevrolet compact sedan is highly dependent on specification and is pretty grim inside on the cheapest $18,000 models but very respectable in LT auto trim from about $20,500.
These better-equipped Cruzes come with a deep features and tech list that includes a Pioneer audio upgrade, MyLink with backup camera and navigation and even enhanced active safety pack that includes rear parking sensors, cross-traffic alerts and blind-spot assist.
All this in a cheap and reliable car is a strong incentive when many buyers are spending serious money to keep their older cars on the road with costly repairs. The Cruze presents a reliable package, but is that enough to fend off the Honda Civic, Ford Focus and Toyota Corolla? How about the VW Jetta TDI?

Clean diesel models are just starting to make their ways into the North American market, and to everyone’s surprise, they do quite well. For example, in the first quarter of 2012, sales numbers were up 35 percent when compared to the same period of 2011 and things continue to improve.
From all diesel units sold in the USA last year, a total of 44 percent where the Jetta TDI, a pretty astounding result, considering this is about half of a market that offers about 25 clean diesel models, which experts say will double by 2017.
The first step into this direction was made at the 2013 Chicago Auto Show where Chevy unveiled the new Cruze Clean Turbo Diesel - not a big surprise considering Cruze is Chevrolet’s hottest-selling sedan.
The model will be put on sale at a starting price at $25,695, which is about $2,500 more than the Jetta TDI priced at $23,055.
UPDATE 6/12/2013: This review has been updated with the official drivetrain specifications. Surprisingly, they are significantly better than GM originally estimated.

The 2015 Chevrolet Cruze finally makes its debut at the New York International Auto Show and while we initially thought that Chevy was preparing a next-generation model, it’s now been confirmed that this model instead carries mild modifications that allows the Cruze to now be more in line with its big brothers, the Impala and the Malibu.
But there’s no reason to be dissappointed, at least if you were expecting an all-new Cruze with a whole lot of changes. The 2015 refresh still has some noticeable changes that only makes the sedan that much more appealing. A new front section is the biggest change from the 2014 model but it’s really all the new technological goodies that really separates the new model.
Needless to say, Chevrolet took that age old "if-it-ain’t-broke-don’t-fix-it" approach on the 2015 Cruze. Based from what we’ve seen so far, it looks like a smart decision.

If you needed any more proof of the burgeoning auto gold mine that China is fast becoming, don’t look any further than Chevrolet releasing a special edition Cruze in that market.
We get limited run exotics and the supercar variety, but a Cruze? It’s not exactly the first model you’ll think of when releasing a special edition model in China. But that’s the kind of growth the Chinese market has had in recent years, enough for automakers like Chevy to green light a unique variant for a mid-size car like Cruze.
In any case, the Cruze WTCC Edition was designed to celebrate Chevrolet’s success in the WTCC racing series. The car itself carries race-inspired graphics and a slew of new body kit components that include a new rear bumper, modified side skirts, and a truck-mounted spoiler. Looking at the overall product,
As far as the engine goes, the Cruze WTCC Edition comes with a choice of powertrains, including a 1.6-liter gas engine that produces 115 horsepower and 111 pounds-per-feet of torque and a more powerful 1.8-liter gas engine that delivers 145 horsepower and 130 pounds-per-feet of torque.
For a chance to own one, you’ll have to be in China with 123,900 yuan, or about $20,000, to spend.
At first glance, you may think that the Chevrolet Cruze doesn’t have much tuning potential. However, at the recently ended 2012 SEMA Show, Chevrolet set out to prove the opposite, as its Cruze Upscale Concept moves the compact sedan up a few rungs on the luxury ladder.
Chevy coated the Cruze Upscale Concept in Burnished Brandy Metallic paint, then added in Black Ice exterior trim, giving it a deep and luxurious finish. Next came a set of rocker and fascia extensions, and a set of 19-inch aluminum wheels in Black Ice. Dark-tinted windows and headlamps give the car an even smoother look.
Inside the Cruze’s cabin, Chevrolet combined brown leather with yellow stitching on the seats and steering wheel. The steering wheel is wrapped in Loft Brown and DK Atmosphere leather, as are the door and instrument panels.
To improve the car’s driving dynamics Chevrolet also added an adjustable coilover suspension kit, four-piston front brake calipers, and two-piece vented and drilled rotors.
The run-up leading to the 2012 Geneva Motor Show is becoming fast and feverish and now, Chevrolet is joining the party with preparations for the unveiling of the Chevrolet Cruze Wagon.
They’ve just offered the first look at the vehicle, although it’s not much of a look considering that it’s one image of the rear end of the car. Nonetheless, it does give us a good idea of the extended wheelbase of the Cruze Wagon, as well as the accompanying new rear styling of the vehicle.
Not much has gone in the way of details, but the wagon variant does follow in the footsteps of the sedan and hatchback versions, which have become popular sellers since the model was launched a few years ago.
As far as aesthetics go, the Cruze Wagon measures 4,675 mm (184.1 inches) in length, with a total storage space of 500 liters (146.5 cubic feet) to the window line and nearly 1,500 liters (424.5 cubic feet) up to the roof top with the rear seats folded down. In terms of design, the Cruze Wagon has a remodeled front fascia, modified head-lamp interiors and fog lamps, new wheel styles, and as with most wagons go, there’s also the presence of roof racks. For the interior, Cruze models get refinements to the center console and a greater choice of seat finishes, as well as keyless entry and MyLink, a brand-new Chevrolet infotainment system. MyLink connects with your smartphone to display personal playlists, photo galleries, phone books, videos, and other stored media and data to a seven-inch diagonal high-resolution full-color touch-screen.
The Chevrolet Cruze Wagon, as with all of the Cruze variants, will be powered by a range of engines, including the current 1.6L and 1.8L gasoline engines, a new 1.4L turbo gasoline, a new 1.7L diesel, and an improved 2.0L diesel engine.
All the official numbers, as well as the full details surrounding the Cruze Wagon will be divulged at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show, so stay tuned!
The upcoming Chevrolet Cruze Z-Spec is the more tuned-up Cruze that will be headed to the 2011 SEMA Auto Show. On the flip side, another Cruze will be going to the show, too. Only this time, it’s a little more subdued than the Z-Spec Concept.
This model is called the Chevrolet Cruze Dusk and just like counterpart, the Sonic Dusk, the list of modifications come with subtle and sophisticated improvements, including a mild concept ground effects package. The Cruze Dusk also receives a fresh new grille, as well as a new set of dark-tinted wheels.
Inside, the modified Cruze sedan gets an all-new interior trim kit, new custom seat inserts, a suede-trimmed steering wheel, an accessory shift knob, sports pedals, and an overhauled audio system.
The modifications done on the Cruze sedan may not be as extensive as other models we’ll see at SEMA, but rest assured, it still has enough to turn a few heads in Las Vegas.
As one of Chevrolet’s most popular cars on the market today, the Cruze compact sedan has developed quite a following over the past few years. So with its popularity continuously ascending, it was an obvious choice for Chevrolet to bring a couple of customized models to the 2011 SEMA Auto Show.
One of the models is the Chevrolet Cruze Z-Spec. You might recall that a year ago, Chevy rolled out the Cruze Z-Spec Concept at the 2010 SEMA Auto Show. That particular model came with its share of accessories, including a full plastic bodykit made up of front and rear bumper add-ons, side skirts, and a rear spoiler.
This particular model, on the other hand, will carry its own set of custom parts, including a high-flow grille, an accessory spoiler, a new stripe package, and a set of 18" custom wheels. Inside, the modifications done on the car comprise of a new steering wheel, special seat inserts, a racing-style pedal kit, an accessory shift knob, and a unique interior trim, among others.
There’s no indication as to whether this particular Cruze Z-Spec will be anything like the one we saw last year, but the good news is that we won’t have to wait too long to find out. The 2011 SEMA Auto Show opens its doors on November 1, giving us only a few sleepless nights to ponder over it.
