2019 Chevrolet E-10 Concept
Chevrolet brought a very unique pickup truck to SEMA that is a sweet blend of the company’s rich history and the ‘electrifying’ future. Called the E-10 concept, the product has reincarnated from a 1962 Chevrolet C-10 pickup truck. If you’ve been following the concepts at SEMA this year, you will immediately strike a comparison with the Dodge Lowliner. However, this low-slung pickup truck comes with an electric powertrain under the hood. So, does this bold truck live up to the hype it has created over the last couple of days? It sure does!
2019 Chevrolet Bolt
The Chevy Bolt tends to have a bad rap because of the bow-tie emblem; it’s quirky DNA mashup between MPV and hatchback, and the fact that it’s not a Tesla. But, we managed to spend some one-on-one time with the Chevy Bolt and, well, let’s just say that you shouldn’t judge a book by its cover. Despite the general consensus surrounding GM’s compact EV, and all the hype generated by Tesla, the Bolt has found a place in our hearts. Here’s our story of a simple yet enjoyable getaway with none other than the 2019 Chevy Bolt.
2019 Genovation GXE Electric Chevy Corvette
Genovation GXE is an electric vehicle based on the C7-Gen Chevy Corvette with plenty of power as well as visual treatment to let onlookers know it’s something a bit special. Wraps officially came off the limited production version at the 2018 LA motor show, where we were informed of its strict 75-unit production cap as well as the fact that the company expects to deliver the first ones in mid-2019.
Now while Genovation rips out the Corvette’s V-8 and replaces it with two electric motors, the company leaves the stock transmission inside, and you can even choose whether it’s a manual or automatic. Exact performance numbers aren’t mentioned, but we are informed of the vehicle’s sub-3-second zero to sixty time.
Visually, the GXE does stand out among Corvettes, with its unique bumpers, rims, and LED strips that highlight some of its design features. You will definitely know something is up when one of these drives by, not only due to the extra exterior lighting but also because of its almost complete lack of noise as it moves along.
Its only slight problem is the fact that you are asked to part with $750,000 in exchange for one. And, while the sheer novelty of having a usable, more luxurious, custom, and fully electric Corvette it is going to be out of the reach of most enthusiasts, it’s important to remember that you can buy no fewer than six Corvette ZR1s for the same money. You know, just to put things into perspective.
2018 Chevrolet ECOPO Camaro Concept
First introduced in 1969 and revived in 2012, the COPO Camaro celebrates 50 years with a revised version at the 2018 SEMA Show. For the first time, the drag racer is joined by an electric version. Called the ECOPO Camaro, it’s just a concept car for now, but it’s probably a preview of things to come.
The ECOPO Camaro was built in partnership with pioneering electric drag racing team Hancock and Lane Racing, as well as with the involvement of Patrick McCue, the man behind the record-holding “Shock and Awe” electric dragster. Showcased alongside the 2019 COPO Camaro and about two dozen other Chevy vehicles at SEMA, it also suggests Chevy might offer an electric motor as a crate "engine" in the future.

2016 Chevrolet Colorado ZH2
Nearly a month ago, we told you about General Motors’ partnership with the U.S. Military’s Army Tank Automotive Research, Development, and Engineering Center to build and test a fuel cell vehicle for use in military operations. Well, GM has debuted its hydrogen-powered pickup and it’s called the Colorado ZH2.
As you can imagine, the truck is based on the Chevrolet Colorado. The ZH2 nomenclature is a play off the Colorado’s (or more historically, the S-10’s) off-road package, the ZR2. With its R swapped for an H, this hydrogen-powered truck is designed to test the capabilities and limits of a fuel-cell vehicle in off-road, wartime-style environments.
“Fuel cells have the potential to expand the capabilities of Army vehicles significantly through quiet operation, exportable power and solid torque performance, all advances that drove us to investigate this technology further,” said Paul Rogers, director of TARDEC. “Fuel cells have the potential to expand the capabilities of Army vehicles significantly through quiet operation, exportable power and solid torque performance, all advances that drove us to investigate this technology further.”
The speed Rogers is referring to is the time TARDEC gave GM to come up with this truck. From contract to concept, the project has happened in less than a year. That’s nearly light speed when it comes to government operations. From this point, the Colorado ZH2 will undergo a year’s worth of evaluation and demanding rigors to determine if hydrogen fuel cell vehicles have a future on the battlefield.
So what’s the big deal about fuel cell technology, you might ask? This propulsion system is nearly silent in operation, it offers a reduced thermal signature, has high torque thanks to its electric drive, offers low fuel consumption, and even creates water, which can be utilized in the field by soldiers.

2017 Chevrolet Bolt EV
How do you build the car of the future? Just ask Chevrolet. According to the bowtie, the masses yearn for something that combines connectivity, electrification, and practicality. It has to be upgradeable. It has to be ahead of the status quo. Most importantly, though, it has to be affordable. Enter the 2017 Bolt EV. Offering a plethora of electronic features, 200 miles of range per charge, and a $30,000 price tag, the Bolt appears to tick all the right boxes.
Chevy went to extremes to tie the Bolt to the cutting edge of technology, streaming the debut at the 2016 Consumer Electronics Show via Facebook Live and following it up with an interactive 3D tour of the interior. I wouldn’t have been surprised if there was a hologram of Steve Jobs in a Tron outfit at the end of it. Dead gadget tycoons aside, the 2017 Bolt looks to be a real watershed moment, not just for Chevy, but EVs as a whole. But is it?

2016 Chevrolet Camaro Eco Super Sport (ESS)
General Motors, the U.S. Department of Energy, and Argonne National Laboratory have been teamed up for some time now to host a competition known as EcoCAR that challenges teams from a number of North American Universities to make a specific vehicle more economical and better for the environment without sacrificing performance, overall usefulness of the vehicle, or consumer appeal. Back in 2008, the first EcoCAR challenge kicked off, in which teams worked with a Saturn Vue. The second challenge, known as EcoCAR 2: Plugging into the Future, ran from 2011 to 2014, with teams focused on modifying a Chevy Malibu. Now, EcoCAR3: Advanced Vehicle Technology Competition is underway, and it looks to be the best EcoCAR challenge so far.
The current challenge kicked off in 2014, and what makes it even better is for this competition, is the car in question is the Chevy Camaro. Like the previous challenges, the main goal is to improve fuel economy and reduce emissions. After nearly two years of work, the EcoEagle team from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University has created the Chevy Camaro Eco Super Sport. The team has been working on the 2016 Camaro since December of 2015 and is ready to show up at the General Motors Desert Proving Ground in Yuma Arizona this coming May.
The Eco Super Sport Uses a combination of a gasoline powered engine, two electric motors, and a battery pack, and according to the most recent press release, is aimed as a competitor against the Tesla Model 3. That’s a pretty bold statement from a group of college engineering students. But before you judge, let’s take a closer look at the Eco Super Sport and see if it actually lives up to the hype.

General Motors appears to be interested in adding to its green car lineup with a new compact crossover called the Bolt EV. While still just a concept, the Bolt would slot in neatly alongside the new 2016 Volt and Spark EV, both of which are already humming their way up and down public roads. The Bolt is designed as a way forward in Chevy’s ambition to provide an affordable, long-range, all-electric vehicle, with a roughly $30,000 starting price and more than 200 miles stated as objectives for the first two adjectives of that description, respectively.
“Chevrolet believes electrification is a pillar of future transportation and needs to be affordable for a wider segment of customers,” said General Motors CEO Mary Barra in a press release. Price and range are two of the most important factors when it comes to widespread EV adoption, so GM clearly has the right idea going for them.
At first glance, the Bolt appears well rounded, both physically and metaphorically. The exterior body looks optimized to reduce drag, while the interior is pleasantly equipped and laid out. It’s a design that’s somewhat reminiscent of the BMW i3, albeit with a dollop of futuristic, concept-ish gloss smeared across it.
If GM wants to be a leader in the world of electrics and hybrids, this would certainly be a step in the right direction. Chevy has yet to confirm any intentions to put the Bolt into production, but rumors are circulating that it could go on sale in the U.S. and limited overseas markets in 2017.
In the meantime, we’ll just have to pick apart the new Volt hybrid for some domestic green car goodness. Maybe we’ll even see yet another foray into the world of EVs from GM. Here’s our pitch: an electric bus for new-age hippies. We’ll call it the Ohm.

The Chevrolet Spark EV appears to be a game-changer in the all electric small car market.
At least that might be the case if you’re living in Oregon or California, the only states that Chevrolet will be selling the Spark EV in for now. While no mention of any expansion was made, we probably shouldn’t expect a decision to be made anytime soon.
For one, there still aren’t a lot of these models around and it can be argued that sales of the Spark EV will be on a limited basis. If the model proves to be a hit, like Chevrolet is banking on, then we might see more states get their hands on the all-electric Spark.
For now, it’s Oregon and California, two states that look to be perfect markets for the Spark EV. One place is a blessing to drive on with scenic routes all around while the other is, well, let’s just say if you want to make the most out of an EV, California’s the place to be.
As far as the car itself, we love the overall make-up of the Spark EV, so much that we’d be very surprised if this model isn’t a success sooner than later.

Eco-friendly car buyers throughout the U.S. were anxiously awaiting the release of Chevy’s newest subcompact car, the Spark. Now that its release has come and gone, it is time to focus on the upcoming electric variant. After testing the car for quite some months, Chevrolet will officially unveiled the new Spark EV at the 2012 Los Angeles Auto Show.
With the Spark EV, Chevrolet adds another car to its electric-powered lineup that includes the Chevrolet Volt, a car that accounts for more than 50 percent of all plug-in electric-vehicle sales in the United States. Building on Chevrolet’s tried and tested electric motor and battery development program; it is expected to have among the best EV battery range in its segment and will be the first electric vehicle to offer SAE Combo DC Fast Charging capability that enables the Spark EV to reach 80-percent battery charge in just 20 minutes. That may not compare to the several minutes it takes to fuel-up your gasoline-powered car, but it’s certainly the fastest in its segment.
Will the Chevrolet Spark EV be another boring electric car to impress the government or is it one of the very few cars that are capable of drawing new customers towards the noble cause of environmental protection?

The ever continuing dialogue regarding the future of electric cars has drawn a fine line between the believers and the skeptics. But we’ve learned this year not to sleep on EVs just yet, especially when you have cars like this 1981 Camaro and the Volkswagen Beetle Black Current proving that EVs are the real deal.
The latter has already shown that it can blast off a quarter-mile time of 9.51 seconds, an astounding number for a car, let alone an EV. And recently, this 1981 Chevrolet Camaro by Team Haiyin EV Racing called the "Warp Factor II", managed to pull off a similar feat, clocking in a quarter-mile time of 10.08 seconds at the Lebanon Valley Dragway while hitting a top speed of 127 mph.
It’s not as quick as what the Black Current was able to accomplish, but it was impressive nevertheless, which lends to the belief - hollow as it may be for some - that high-powered EV cars like this one have a place in the future of the industry.

Chevrolet has brought with them a trio of test vehicles for their new Z-Spec line of aftermarket accessories. One of those testers is the concept version of the all-new Volt electric car featuring some of Chevrolet designers’ ideas for a potential line of accessories.
Sure, an electric vehicle isn’t the most ideal car to tune, but that doesn’t mean that the Volt can’t pull off the ground effects kit, the modified rear fascia, the blacked-out trim accents, and the new 19-inch wheels, as well as some exterior graphics. Inside, the Volt gets a sports steering wheel, leather-wrapped Recaro front seats, and racing pedals.
The new Z-Spec line is being showcased on Chevrolet’s trio of small cars; the Volt, the Cruze, and the Spark, but eventually Chevrolet says that the whole lineup will be able to get fully customized using the Z-Spec line.
"Chevrolets have always been vehicles customers love to personalize and Z-Spec could give them more choices than ever," said Chris Perry, vice president of Chevrolet marketing.
While waiting for the production version of the Volt, Chevrolet decided to tease us with a new electric concept carrying the same nameplate. This time, it’s a crossover. It made its world debut at the Auto China 2010 and comes to demonstrate the potential of the Voltec propulsion system.
The MPV5 concept features the same design as the Volt: a closed grille and aero-optimized lower air dam, a full-underbody belly pan, along with rocker claddings, creased tail lamps and specially designed blades on the rear quarter. The crossover is painted in Sonic Blue Metallic paint and sits on 19-inch Volt-inspired wheels.
And, of course, under the hood there is the same propulsion system with a total of 150 Hp and an autonomy of 300 miles on a full tank of gasoline. The MPV5 can hit a top speed of 100 mph.
We are curious to see what other Volt-like creations are up Chevy’s sleeve, especially since this crossover looks quite dashing. Check out the interior shots.

The final version of the Chevrolet Volt electric car was presented today at the Los Angeles Auto Show. At the even GM announced that the electric sedan will be available late next year in California with other lead markets to be named later. Production will begin in 2010 and will cost $41,000 before federal and state tax incentives. While the sticker price is rather high, the lease deal seems to be the best choice. Buyers can lease their very own electric Volt for $350 per month for 36 months. That is the exact same payment that Nissan is asking for with the Leaf EV.
The Chevrolet Volt is designed to drive up to 40 miles on electricity without using gasoline or producing tailpipe emissions. When the Volt’s lithium-ion battery runs low, an engine/generator seamlessly operates to extend the total driving range to more than 300 miles before refueling or stopping to recharge the battery. One thing to remember while you are at the pump; this little baby has to be filled with premium gasoline.
Also, the Volt’s exterior color has an official name: Viridian Joule, a name suggested by David Thomas, 40, of Sanford, Fla.

UPDATE 10/16/2010: Motortrend has tested the Chevrolet Volt and has gotten some tremendous results! On their first trip, the hybrid got them 127mpg while traveling along the street and highways of Los Angeles. On their second trip, the guys over at Motortrend drove the heck out of the Volt at its top speed and were able to get 75mpg proving that the Volt is one efficient vehicle!

General Motors spent a lot of time, money and political capital in the Chevy Volt. The car that started out as just another concept last year has become the company’s springboard for its second hundred years. In fact, in the time GM set aside to talk to the press about its 100th anniversary, almost all of the occasion was taken up by information on the Volt.
With this in mind, it is worth going through a detailed breakdown of what GM wants you to know, including what it has accomplished and what GM still has to complete on its Volt.
