It is time we faced the truth. The new Chevrolet Blazer isn’t an off-roader, but a cool-looking family CUV and the best way for all of us to accept that is to compare it with its new competition - the Ford Edge and the Jeep Cherokee. I suspect both of these are smaller compared with the new Blazer, but they have some striking similarities amongst themselves as well. All three offer seating for only five, boast a somewhat flamboyant styling, offer four-cylinder engines, and are based on top of the front-wheel-drive underpinnings. Obviously, one searching for a $30k-ish five-seater, midsize SUV with a lot of equipment and maybe an optional AWD is only expected to take all three into consideration.

The 2019 Chevrolet Camaro has just been released, and it looks different from its successor. We can debate if it looks better or not, but it does offer a more distinctive appearance than the outgoing model. The front and rear sections are where the most prominent changes can be found, and if you’re a fan of the Transformers movie franchise, you’ll realize that the 2019 Camaro actually owes its appearance to the special edition Camaro Bumblebee that was featured in the fifth installment of the franchise, The Last Knight.

In case you were unaware, the 2017 sixth-generation Chevrolet Camaro just took out its eternal rival, the Ford Mustang, in a comparison review examining everything from the aero and interior equipment, to speed and handling. And that’s all well and good, but before all you Chevy fans out there go in search of a cooler full of celebratory beverages, it’s time for the Camaro to face its next challenge – the rest of the world. Because although it managed to one-up the Mustang, the Bow Tie’s most popular muscle car is still facing more than a little competition from overseas. To see if it can stay at the top, we’re pitting it against four sporty coupes, two from Europe, and two from Japan. It’s ‘Merica vs. the world – will the ‘Maro once again take home the win?

Each of these vehicles comes with two doors, a sporty attitude, and a price tag that starts at around $40,000.
But right away, there’s a problem – clearly, if this were little more than a test of quarter mile times, the Camaro SS would be the hands-down winner. But Chevy contends its sixth-gen Camaro is much more than just a muscle car, bringing a host of features designed to make it useful in situations that don’t include staging lights.

Muscle Car Melee – Mustang vs. Camaro
The car world is chockfull of heated rivalries, but few burn as brightly as the age-old battle between two of America’s most beloved muscle cars – the Ford Mustang and the Chevrolet Camaro. What started in the mid ‘60s as a high-octane street fight with frequent skirmishes at the drag strip has evolved into one of the most contentious clashes in automotive history, and there’s no sign it’s gonna slow down any time soon.
These days, the fight between the Mustang and Camaro brings the same rear-tire-smoking dance and V-8 soundtrack as it has in the past, but the battle today brings with it a whole lot more than that. The straight-line bragging rights of a quick 0-to-60 mph sprint and quarter-mile ET are as important as ever, but thanks to cutting-edge construction techniques and materials to delete excess weight, as well as advanced suspension systems and tuning, these two monsters are now elevated to the realm of genuine sports cars, packing the goods needed to compete against some of the best performance machines in the world.

2017 Colorado ZR2 vs 2017 Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro
These are exciting times for truck enthusiasts who also like off-roading. The 2017 Ford Raptor is out, launching the second generation of Ford’s halo F-150. Toyota has its new-for-2017 Tacoma TRD Pro that’s based on the new-for-2016 Tacoma. And Chevy comes late to the party with its Colorado ZR2 – a production truck based on the concept version from 2014. These three trucks represent the upper crust of the pickup segment. It’s a prestigious group that’s focused on going fast over rough terrain while still conquering the daily commute.
The Raptor might be the premiere pickup, having birthed this niche segment back in 2010, but the Toyota and Chevy new-comers aren’t slackers. In fact, thanks to their smaller sizes compared to the full-size Raptor, these mid-size pickups are more agile and can fit down narrower trails. The famed Rubicon train in California, for instance, is too narrow for the Raptor’s immensely wide track. The Tacoma TRD Pro and Colorado ZR2, however, should have no problem traversing the tight terrain.
The Toyota and Chevy are also less expensive (or rumored to be) than the Raptor. That puts them basically in a head-to-head fight for customers. Typical things like design, features, and brand loyalty goes a long way in choosing which truck is best, but a more objective comparison should be made. That’s especially true for someone who’s ready to pull the trigger on a purchase.

I am testing a set of winter tires from Cooper Tire to see how much benefit a driver in the snow belt will receive, and so far I have learned a lot. With lots of ice, slush and just plain freezing temps on clear roads, I have discovered why winter tires are a smart purchase. That said, I really can’t give a full review of these tires unless I get a chance to test them in real heavy winter conditions. As it happens, Cooper was holding a winter-tire testing event in Canada, and our tires were on the list of included products.
I asked if I could follow the team up to Canada to give the tires a good flogging on ice and snow, and they were more than happy to oblige. As a bonus I got a chance to test out a new all-season tire that is supposed to be nearly as good as winter rubber in the snow, I was able to test a more performance-oriented SUV winter tire, and I even learned how to drift a BMW on ice. If you remember the mayhem that happened the last time I got to be a tire tester, well, it happened again. This time we killed a Jeep though, not a Corvette.

Ranking the best cars is fun, but ranking the worst is like frolicking on a perfect beach, it just never gets old. Taking into consideration that the year is almost complete, we wanted to rank the worst vehicles of the decade and seeing as how there were so many, ten just wasn’t enough.
Some weren’t very hard to think of, stuff like the Chevrolet Aveo and the Smart ForTwo were obviously going to be on the list, but there were a few that will shock you. If one sentence can sum up our thought process during this evaluation it would be this, ’high sales don’t mean anything’.
Look at the Chevrolet Impala and the Jeep Wrangler. Both sell fairly well, but both are awful. The Impala is fat and drives like a boat and the Wrangler is an off-road machine that most won’t take in their yard, leaving it hard and uncompromising on the road. Despite these two perfect examples of automotive incompetence, both didn’t make the list.

So, entry-level sports cars aren’t good enough. You make too much money to be seen in a Mazda MX-5 or a normal Ford Mustang. Your successful self needs something powerful and exciting. Well, there is plenty of choices in the market.
To be as precise as possible, there is actually an overwhelming amount of choices in the market, with each car being a little different. There are German performance coupes, American muscle, and Japanese street rockets. These machines have the same sort of mind-bending power, but the way each puts that power down is as different as Apollo and the Space Shuttle.
Due to that reason, we had a hard time putting machines like the Dodge Challenger in same category as the Porsche Boxster. How can you compare two machines that are so vastly different? Sure, we could have, but it just wouldn’t have worked. So, after the jump we have three - even though the title says ten - different top fives. The price cap is $60,000.
We broke it down like this. At the top we have four-door performance machines that use amazing power with epic grip and practicality. Then we have the coupes. Don’t get these coupes mixed up with the Corvette-type coupes because these European cars are tuned for a mixture of speed and cornering ability. Finally, we have the American straight road muscle. Cars that run the quarter miles as naturally as a sports analyst getting a prediction terribly wrong.

Midsize sedans are the bread and butter cars of most companies. Yet, even if typical bread and butter may seem like a bland food, that doesn’t stop these cars from being stylish, sporty, and fun to drive.
The best selling cars in the country are midsize sedans and the best selling cars for most automakers are their sedan offerings. The midsize sedan offers practicality without the reputation crushing style of a minivan.
At least, that’s what they want you to think.

There are many choices for car buyers and that allows people to demand many different things from these four door cars. Some people buy them as family cars, opting for more room over a compact sedan, without sacrificing small car handling and fuel economy. Other people like a bigger car over a smaller one and then there’s people who prefer the Honda Accord to the Civic because it has a bigger presence on the road. The larger car makes you feel safer and more secure during highway travel.

A few days ago we took a small trip down the road a few miles to Best Buy to look at some of the new televisions that are currently on the market. In the newly redesigned Best Buys, they have added a massive back wall full of screens playing movies, previews, or nature shows, in an effort to show us how good these shows can look in high definition. Every size, make, and model is available and you could stand there for hours watching each one of them. The picture is incredible, but after a while you have to run and hide in the speaker section, just to get away from the intense light and colors.
Sure, these 50-inch LCD machines are very impressive, but they will also cost you a full week’s paycheck. Yet, that is the way things are in today’s market. If you dare ask for a tube television you will be laughed at and thrown out of the store. Probably not, but the chances of finding an old school telly are pretty slim.
The addition of new technology happens every year in the automotive world too. There are certain devices that once graced the interior, or exterior of our cars that are now only found in the history books. The cassette deck, roll-up windows, and bench seats all seem to be making an exit from the modern vehicle. There are even vehicle body styles that have faded from memory.
