After focusing on the 300 in a series of variants, Chrysler has moved on to the 200 Convertible with the unveiling of the S version at the 2011 New York Auto Show. The 200 S Convertible features more luxury and sporty characteristics than the standard version with an improved exterior and interior look. It also gets a more powerful engine in the V6 variety to bump up the power from the standard model by 110 HP. The new 200 S Convertible will go on sale later this spring with prices starting from $32,490.

"The New York International Auto Show is the perfect place to debut the new 2011 Chrysler 200 S sedan and Chrysler 200 S convertible models," said Olivier Francois, President and CEO, Chrysler Brand – Chrysler Group LLC. "These vehicles are built with an unmistakable attitude and a signature style; and you could say the same of New York itself. The attitude may be ‘Imported from Detroit,’ but it’s definitely at home on Park Avenue."

With the new 200 S Convertible, Chrysler is taking one step closer to the level of performance offered by its competitors, like the Volvo C70 or even the Infiniti G37 Convertible.

The Infiniti G37 is not only a more luxurious model than the 200 S Convertible, but it is also more powerful. It is powered by a 3.7-liter V6 engine rated at 325 HP and 267 lb-ft of torque. In term of design, Infiniti beats out the Chrysler yet again with more elegance and more dynamic lines. Now the downside; the Infiniti G37 is obviously more expensive, starting out at $44,500.

The Volvo C70 gets thrown right in the middle of the mix in terms of price with a tag starting at $39,500. However, it allows for a plethora of engine options - including diesel variants - that range from 136 HP to 230 HP. Its design has been revised for 2011 and should stick to the top of the list for summer convertibles.

I like it’s improved interior and its sportier appearance. Its unique front grille added another good detail to the vehicle. It’s more powerful engine is really efficient.

I simply love this one, most especially the aggressive image that this convertible car is expressing, but I must agree with them that the improvements’ design is still not impressive and it is kind of too pricey for the level of its performance.

This new edition of this convertible 200 has a few differences from the older version. It looks sportier and improved power performance. For a convertible car, I think it an expensive car.

Chrysler convertible is so cool on its exterior detailing, and I really love the angst of its front headlight. However, I think they should boost more the engine of it even with its output.

It looks so classy and glamorous on its metallic body paint, and I must say that I really admire its interior features, very comfortable and entertaining, which is only appropriate for a convertible vehicle.

When it comes into a good-looking car, I must say that I would still prefer the looks of Volvo C70, and I’m also impressed on that because it seems already a complete packaged, unlike this one.

Totally convenient car features, Chrysler 200 S Convertible most likely similar to other convertible cars. But when it comes to more of a standard and established component of car, I prefer Chrysler 200, I like the automatic side of it.

The design of the car is not impressive like to the new editions of the a car. But, since it was a convertible I count it as one of my favorite car so far.

The car lines adds more appeal on this convertible car and I must say that the color really fitted for this car but I think V6 engine can give poor performance on it.

I love the styling and the car lines that this 200 S convertible had. It really had the impression of an angst car and a powerful one and I must also say that it already looks good with the color that it had.

I love this convertible car of chrysler even the sporty exterior design of this and the interior improvement is quite impressive for me. I must say that it is kind of expensive for the level of its engine performance.

Yes! It indeed doesn’t have its own unique sort of style, Well, Its have its owns characteristics and concept that seems to be one of a kind version.

Chrysler 200 S has unveiling convertible looks that not as unique style just like any other model. One thing I admire for this has its own elegance and sophisticated appealing exterior design that captivates my attention so well.

  (474) posted on 04.29.2011

I am not really that surprised that this one is not too far off from the standard 200 S. after all, it is just a different version. Though I wish they had done a few more things with it.

  (345) posted on 04.28.2011

Hmm, I really like the interior work on this one. It isn’t really all that unique or spectacular, but it is quite neat and does seem to be really comfy.

  (412) posted on 04.27.2011

Well, considering that a lot of folks would surely by this one. It also looks pretty pointless to argue why this one has a rather powerful engine in the hood.

  (683) posted on 04.26.2011

Yeah, you’re right. I don’t understand either why this one is going to be a lot powerful when folks are probably going to use this one for ordinary travel. Pretty pointless if you ask me.

IMO, why do we needing a high speed car when it is used everyday? The convertible version is the most beautiful version ever created!

I don’t even consider the speed of the car is in normal. I have to blame the low performance on those hard roof top though this thing looks amazing.
