Ever since Subaru lifted the Legacy’s suspension, slapped on some body cladding, and called it the Outback, it’s been harder and harder to draw a firm line between ’regular’ cars and SUVs. And we recently drove three vehicles that are right in that blurry area. Their manufacturers call them crossovers, and they’re tall and plastic-clad. But they’re tiny and come only with front-wheel-drive.
Whatever you call them, the all-new 2020 Hyundai Venue, the freshly-redesigned 2020 Kia Soul, and the 2020 Nissan Kicks are a lot of vehicle for the money. They all start below $20,000, all get at least 30 mpg, and all have higher seating positions and more cargo room than a sedan. They slot under their brands’ crossovers that already wear the pint-sized label of subcompact — the Hyundai Kona, Kia Seltos, and Nissan Rogue Sport — to provide an even lower price and even more city-friendly parking abilities.

Suddenly, the performance and driving enjoyment that were rather high on the imaginary list of features that customers religiously craved for gave up place to cargo space and connectivity. Now, I am here to rank 13 small SUVs from worst to best. Trying to be as objective as possible, I have compared several main features trying to get a clearer picture. I am comparing the size, engine, cargo capacity, price, and connectivity. The 13 SUVs ranked here do make the bulk of all small SUV segment. Not one of them is longer than 177 inches, and all but one have a wheelbase shorter than 106 inches.
Interestingly enough, some of the most recognizable names that built up the small SUV kingdom aren’t here anymore. SUVs like the Toyota RAV4, the Honda CR-V, or the Mazda CX-5, somehow do not feel as little as they did a decade ago. Plus, all of them overshoot my length/wheelbase limit.

2020 Land Rover Defender Quirks And Features
I am in love with the new Land Rover Defender. But at first, I was not. I was disappointed with its move towards an unibody chassis, and I have resented all the "soft-touches" Land Rover prepped for it. But I have changed my mind.
True, it is a mommy automobile, and a kids-to-school mover, but it is the best mommy automobile and kids transportation device I have ever seen. It’s tough, robust, well-engineered, rugged, and seriously capable. Plus, Land Rover offers it with 170 accessories, like roof racks, tow hitches, steel wheels, a rinse system, an armrest cooler, and a front bench-style seat. Find me another car that offers all of that. There’s no way you can. But!
There is a big "but" here. The 2020 Land Rover Defender is seriously expensive. It starts at $50,925 (plus destination charges) in the U.S. That’s huge. That is the price of the base BMW X4 xDrive30i. Take a deep dive in the configurator and you can spec it out at more than 100 grand. That is absurd.
In 2012, the Land Rover Defender started at $22,000 in Australia. Then again, the only thing that’s left from the old Defender on the new one is the name. Nothing else. This is a wholly new car. I only hope that Land Rover invested heavily in quality control. If it manages to ace reliability and dependability surveys with the new Defender, I’d say that the price may even be justified.

Why Isn’t Subaru Bringing Back the Hatchback...Yet
However you cut it, the only genuine hatchback within the Subaru line of cars was the third generation Subaru Impreza hatch. True, the company did make odd-shaped, wagon-like hatchbacks on top of the Impreza chassis since the very beginning in 1992, but none of them had that proper hatchback quality. It is the same story today. If you walk in a Subaru showroom, you can have an Impreza hatch that looks like a wagon. Alternatively, you can have an Outback - a five-door wagon, based on the Legacy, with raised suspension and body claddings. In short, the company has no hatch to fight the likes of the Golf, Focus, Fiesta, Polo, or Yaris, among others! Nevertheless, the question remains - can we expect the new Subaru hatch?

Ford seems to be investing heavily in the upcoming Bronco. It looks like the Blue Oval is expecting the Bronco to be a runaway success, and to make sure that happens, the automaker is leaving no stone unturned. Ford has declared war on the Wrangler, plans to introduce a Raptor version, and now, has filed for multiple trademarks with the United States Patent and Trademark Office, that could hint at different trim levels, special editions, or even concepts. If everything goes according to plan, the new Ford Bronco could become the most badass SUV on the market.
2020 BMW 1 Series vs 2020 Audi A3
The fourth-generation BMW 1 Series broke cover for the 2020 model, and it seems that the Munich-based company final has a proper competitor for latest Mercedes-Benz A-Class. But these are the only premium hatchbacks on the market. Germany’s third premium automaker, Audi, offers its very own five-door subcompact, the Audi A3 Sportback.
Unlike the 1 Series and the A-Class, the current A3 Sportback is a bit long in the tooth. Launched back in 2012, it’s already seven years old as of 2019, and it won’t stay around for long. Kia XCeed Quirks and Features
This is the forth Ceed brother in the Kia lineup. There’s the Ceed Sportwagon, Proceed Sportwagon, Ceed hatchback, and now the XCeed. I will go on a limb here and say that the XCeed Xceeded (I had to) my expectations when it comes to its exterior look. This pseudo crossover is a bomb. Somewhat based around the ProCeed layout, the Xceed successfully employs the swept back roof design of the coupe and takes a few unique styling touches compared to any other Ceed currently available. Considering that crossovers like this sell like crazy, I am not even mad that Kia made it better looking compared to any other hatch in its arsenal. Regardless of its looks, the Kia XCeed is just a regular compact with the same tech you can find in any other Kia or Hyundai hatch. It does have some unique touches though! Here they are:

To put it clearly - BMW, Audi, Lexus, Infiniti, Cadillac, or Lincoln do not have a vehicle that could threaten the existence of the GLB.

Comparison: 2020 BMW 1 Series vs 2019 BMW 1 Series
The difference between the new 2020 BMW 1 Series and its predecessor, the2019 BMW 1 Series, is staggering. These two are like a Leo and Aquarius, chocolate and vanilla, like Apple iOS and Android. They are that different. With a paradigm shift in its architecture and layout, the new 1 Series exited the exciting and different and entered the standard and generic. Luckily, today, "generic" among hatchbacks is really good. So much so that the new 1 Series is probably better compared to the old one in every measurable way.
And worse in every immeasurable way.
I guess consumers today don’t care about that sort of thing - the context, the uniqueness, the distinctiveness. After all, universal laws are for lackeys. Context is for kings!
Just like Capt. Lorca has said! The new 2020 BMW 1 series, however fantastic it may be, is a child of universal laws. That is its principal weakness and one of its strengths at the same time.
2020 BMW 1 Series F40 - Quirks and Facts
In a sad, but not a surprising turn of events, BMW revealed a completely reimagined 1 Series. It is a car that threw everything it was known for out the window and accepted plebian driving solutions like a front wheel drive chassis, three-cylinder and four-cylinder transversely mounted engines, and somewhat MPVish styling.
BMW knew that it had to justify its high price (it is more expensive than the A3, and the A-class) and, to do that, Bavarians imagined a lot of cool features to make it easier to drive, more accommodating to be in, and more efficient to travel. It also has the biggest kidney grille of any 1 Series. Probably to remind you that this is a BMW. It needs that sort of thing because you will probably forget about its origins after the drive in a cabin that has a lot of shoulder room, rear legroom, and enough headroom.
In short, you aren’t a hero or a villain if you drive the new 1 Series. You aren’t courageous or adventurous, zealous, or intense. You are... ah, whatever.
This does not mean that the new 1 Series isn’t a masterpiece of contemporary car design and a platform for the latest technologies. It is, and you will see here how!
2019 Opel Corsa photos leak; here’s what we know so far
PSA Peugeot-Citroen acquired Opel (and its U.K. arm Vauxhall) in August of 2017, and since then, it’s launched a few Opel-branded vehicles based on its own platforms. None, however, have been as important as the sixth-generation Corsa. The 2019 Opel Corsa shares its platform with the rakish new 208 hatch, but it promises to offer a more restrained, more Germanic take on the same city car formula.
