Skoda Slavia Concept - One Affordable Roadster We'd Love to See Come to Life

Skoda Slavia Concept - One Affordable Roadster We’d Love to See Come to Life

The Skoda Slavia is a Scala-based speedster you can’t buy

Skoda’s current vehicle lineup includes three hatchbacks, two sedans, and three SUVs. It’s far from spectacular, but that’s what Skoda has been about (mostly) since its inception more than 100 years ago.

But the Czech automaker just rolled out a concept that proves it can design dynamic and emotive two-door cars. It’s called the Slavia and it’s an exciting roadster version of the Scala hatchback.

2020 Audi Q4 Sportback E-Tron Concept

It is essentially the standard Q4 e-tron but in a much sexier Sportback avatar

Audi is arguably the most active brand today when it comes to EVs. The company had announced a bold claim that it will launch 20 new EVs by 2025, and surprisingly, it seems to be on track.

The German automaker has added yet another vehicle to its EV portfolio, the Q4 Sportback e-tron, which happens to be its seventh fully electric vehicle. The company revealed the concept version for now and the real deal is expected to go on sale sometime in 2021.

2020 AIWAYS U6ion

Chinese concept SUV previews all-electric competitor for BMW X6

The 2020 Aiways U6ion is an electric crossover concept that the Chinese brand unveiled online during the virtual 2020 Geneva Motor Show. The 2020 U6ion broke cover alongside the 2021 U5, which will be the company’s first vehicle to hit the European market.

The 2020 U6ion previews a coupe-style SUV that will likely share underpinnings with the 2021 U5. Much like its sibling, the 2020 U6ion boasts a bold exterior design and a premium interior. It also looks ready to go into production as none of its design cues and technologies seem far-fetched.

2020 GFG Style Vision 2030 Desert Raid

2020 GFG Style Vision 2030 Desert Raid

Forget the bizarre name, we need more vehicles like this

GFG Style’s Vision 2030 Desert Raid was supposed to take the stage in Geneva, but a debut deep in the dunes of the Sahara desert would have been a more appropriate way to introduce this begging-to-be-hooned off-road hypercar.

Sure, it looks like the sort of car the likes of Dan Bilzerian would drive on Mars, but come to think of it, why not? We wouldn’t miss a chance to shoot up some sand in this bad boy, and we’re guessing most rich people out there think the same.

2020 GFG Style Vision 2030

2020 GFG Style Vision 2030

An electric supercar for the sandy dunes of Saudi Arabia

The 2020 GFG Style Vision 2030 is one of three concept cars that the company owned by Fabrizio and Giorgetto Giugiaro unveiled during the live streaming press conference that should have been a real thing at the 2020 Geneva Motor Show.

The 2020 Vision 2030 isn’t exactly new, as the design company unveiled it for the first time in November 2019 in Saudi Arabia. The reason for that, says GFG Style, is that the Vision 2030 was conceived for the Saudi Arabian roads. While it looks like a supercar, it rides higher than usual so it can cope with gravel and even sandy terrain. The big news is that it’s fully electric.

2020 GFG Style Bandini Dora

2020 GFG Style Bandini Dora

An all-electric barchetta inspired by 1990s designs

GFG Style, the weirdly named company run by Giorgetto and Fabrizio Giugiaro, launched three new concept cars at the 2020 Geneva Motor Show, including the Bandini Dora. A barchetta-style supercar that seems inspired by designs from the early 1990s, the Bandini Dora is a fully electric "hedonistic, open, two-seater car, designed for outdoor leisure." It’s also supposed to be a nod back to the "quintessential of sports cars manufactured by Bandini in the 1950s," even though it’s way too angular compared to vehicles from that era.

2020 BMW Concept i4

2020 Renault MORPHOZ concept

2020 Renault MORPHOZ concept

The Morphoz Concept represents a future where cars transform and what’s yours isn’t always yours

Renault, like all other automakers, were forced to skip the Geneva Motor Show, but that sure didn’t stop it from unveiling what will probably be written in history as the weirdest futuristic concept of 2020. The Morphoz is, essentially, a vehicle that can transform based on range need, from a shorter, city car to a longer travel car. It sounds like the Morphoz will be a city car by default and would require you to stop by a station and swap to a larger battery if you plan to take a longer trip. The batteries, whether in the car or not, will be used to power infrastructure when not in use. I tend to speak too soon about a lot of things, but I’m going to come right out and say that this thing will never see production, but it could represent the future of automobiles, so here’s what you need to know about it.

2020 DS Aero Sport Lounge Concept Car

Whenever DS flexes its luxury muscle, we should all pay attention

Over the past decades, luxury has been associated with what we could call analogue concepts: fine leather, wood veneer, exquisite quilting, and silky-smooth fabrics. These days, however, luxury goes hand in hand with technology, too.

Sure, not everybody approves of that, but even the most fanatical skeptic might have second thoughts after getting a glimpse of the DS Aero Sport Lounge. We’re gonna offer up a lot more than that in the words below.

2020 Polestar Precept Concept

2020 Polestar Precept Concept

The Precept Concept previews an all-electric competitor for the Porsche Taycan

The 2020 Polestar Precept is a concept car developed and built by Volvo’s high-performance division. Unveiled ahead of the 2020 Geneva Motor Show, the 2020 Precept is Polestar’s first concept car since it became more than a sub-brand that tuned performance-oriented Volvos.

Let’s find out more about that in the review below.

2020 Alpine A110 SportsX

2020 Alpine A110 SportsX

An Alpine A110 that can go off-road? Well, maybe just a little

Alpine has decided to partake in a fun design exercise that blends the the modern-day Alpine A110 with inspiration derived from the A110 SportsX that won the Monte Carlo Rally in 1973. . The idea is to showcase the potential for customization offered by the current A110, and showcase that it does. Alpine started by making the A110 80 mm wider and followed up by raising the suspension by 60 mm to make it more off-road friendly.

As far as we can tell, the modern-day Alpine A110 SportsX is powered by the same engine as the standard A100, which means there’s a 1.8-liter four-cylinder in place to do the dirty work. Power output should be pegged at 252 horsepower and 236 pound-feet of torque. This design study, if it was slated for production wouldn’t be quite so fast to 60 mph (4.5 seconds) but it would be more of a go-anywhere type of vehicle so it might be a fair trade-off.

We’ve organized a nice gallery of the Alpine A110 SportsX in the slider above and the page below. Go ahead and browse through and let us know what you think.

2020 Mercedes Vision AVTR - A Look Into the Impossible Future

2020 Mercedes Vision AVTR - A Look Into the Impossible Future

Inspired by the Avatar movie, packed with futuristic technology

The Mercedes-Benz Vision AVTR is a futuristic concept car that explores new design options and technologies, as well as the "vision of designers, engineers, and trend researches for mobility in the distant future." The AVTR name stands for Advanced Vehicle Transformation, but it also represents the company’s collaboration with the team that produced Avatar, a science fiction film directed and produced by James Cameron and released in 2009. While previous Vision concepts from Mercedes-Benz were also futuristic, they still featured technologies and styling cues linked to production cars, while some of the design actually made it on vehicles you can buy in dealerships. The Vision AVTR is an entirely different story as its features and technologies won’t be transferred to production cars in the near future.

2020 Sony Vision-S Concept

We’re getting a lot of Porsche Taycan vibes here

No, it’s not a Porsche although it looks a lot like one, don’t you think? This contraption here is called Vision-S and with it, Sony wants to brag about its ability to keep up with the latest mobility trends that will ultimately turn our cars into downright entertainment spaces, especially once Level 5 autonomy begins to shift from exception to norm. Here’s what you need to know about the Sony Vision-S.

2019 Pininfarina Pura Vision Concept

2019 Pininfarina Pura Vision Concept

Pininfarina’s answer to the Ferrari Purosangue

Pininfarina, once Ferrari’s preferred coachbuilder, is now busy establishing itself as a standalone automaker. It put its best foot forward by unveiling the radical Battista hypercar that promises to be one of the fastest four-wheeled things on the planet and now it’s doubling it down by announcing a whole range of models, the first of which will be an SUV. Fear not, however, as the Pura Vision isn’t your average sporty SUV as Pininfarina aims to deliver supercar-level performance under a skin that both resembles a four-door GT and the existing Battista. It sounds like a match made in heaven.

Coming with an outlandishly appointed cabin and a class-bending profile, the Pininfarina Pura Vision could seriously reduce the market share of Lamborghini’s Urus and Ferrari’s upcoming Purosangue. While we’re yet to feast our eyes with the pre-production prototype showcased to prospective customers during a series of VIP events held by Pininfarina in August during the Monterey Car Week, those that have are talking about a sleek and not overly complicated design so typical of Pininfarina, one that’ll only be matched by its impressive performance. At this stage of the game, the Pura Vision might become Pininfarina’s most important product so they have to get it right.

2020 Lamborghini V12 Vision Gran Turismo

2020 Lamborghini V12 Vision Gran Turismo

This is what Lamborghini can think of when it’s not bound by real-world constraints

Just when you thought it was safe to call the recently unveiled Jaguar Vision Gran Turismo one of the edgiest VGT cars to come out of the video game racing program, a certain Italian automaker comes out and smacks you over the head with its own Vision Gran Turismo. This one comes from Lamborghini, and it’s called the V12 Vision Gran Turismo. For a company that’s known for designing some of the most aerodynamically outrageous cars in the world, the V12 Vision Gran Turismo makes all of those models look like doodles on a sketch pad. It doesn’t hurt that the V12 VGT carries the same powertrain as Lambo’s other recent madness-of-a-creation, the Sian FKP 37. Just like every other Vision Gran Turismo model that has come before, the Lamborghini V12 Vision Gran Turismo is not earmarked for real-world production. It will instead be available in Gran Turismo Sport for the PlayStation 4 in 2020.

2019 Kia Futuron Concept

2019 Kia Futuron Concept

A peek at the future of Kia design

Kia glided through the design process of its latest coupe SUV concept, the Futuron, drawing inspiration from outer space. With Level 4 autonomy, this SUV with a "360-degree core" represents a look at the future of Kia design with its novel approach to the tiger nose front grille and the eye-catching Star Cloud headlights and taillights. In fact, the concept features light sources all over the luscious bodywork that suggests this EV’s got some grunt. Expect to see at least some cues inside and out on future models of the Korean automaker.

South Korea has quickly risen, in the span of about two decades, from the doldrums of the auto industry to the very top and concepts such as Kia’s Futuron (in itself a pun on the words "future" and "on") signals to the world that Kia plans to stay at the top in the foreseeable future by incorporating the latest EV technology coupled with autonomous systems, all draped in a futuristic body with clean surfaces but also aggressive ridges and angles. We like it if it’s a sign that the two-door SUV is bound to make a comeback.
