Daihatsu announced that it will exhibit the D-01 prototype, which is scheduled to go on sale in mid-2007, and other vehicles at Auto China 2006 (Beijing Motor Show). The motor show will be held from November 18 to 27 at the China International Exhibition Center and the National Agricultural Exhibition Center.

Full-scale sales of the new vehicle will be conducted in partnership with China FAW Group under the Daihatsu brand name.

In addition to the D-01 new compact multi-purpose passenger car prototype, the HVS hybrid sports car, the Be-go SUV, and the Copen roadster will also be on display at the motor show.

I think you were wrong guys. It is not the Toyota Avanza. Obviously, they have the same design and body it is normal for the car to have its look a like. I can say this because I’ve seen a lot of Avanza in our place.

No doubt, this is the daihatsu xenia originally developed by Daihatsu Astra Indonesia since 2003-2004. It is also marketed as Toyota avanza in several Asian countries as well as sub-saharan Africa.

I guess toyota is owning the 50% of Daihatsu, both are sharing technologies and design, IMO the D01 is based on toyota avanza.
