DS Looks Like it Has a Jewel of a Concept in The X E-Tense
Two years ago, the DS performance brand unveiled the E-Tense Concept at the Geneva Motor Show. As the brand’s supposed answer to the Audi R8, the E-Tense Concept gained traction as a potential production model. Nothing has come out of it since, and that has led to speculation that those plans have been scrapped. Fortunately, for every door that closes, another one opens. Fast forward to 2018 and DS has a new concept on its hands. It’s called the DS X E-Tense, and, judging by the teaser video, it looks like a worthy follow-up to its namesake.
Get Ready, Mercedes-Maybach Has Prepared Another Ultra-Luxurious Concept for the Beijing Motor Show
While it no longer functions as a stand-alone brand since it’s revival as Mercedes-Maybach, the German luxury marque has made a habit of launching at least one exotic concept car per year. Last year it was a sleek pair of Vision 6 two-door models. In 2018, Maybach is kicking things off at the Beijing Motor Show later this month with yet another opulent concept car. Previewed by a 30-second teaser video called "Luxury at its finest," the new vehicle seems to be the fanciest Maybach to date.
God Bless Skoda’s Interns as They Try to Design a Karoq Convertible Concept
Skoda is once again tapping its interns to design a concept vehicle. Following in the footsteps of the Citigo Roadster, Fabia pickup, and last year’s electric Citigo buggy, the interns are now tasked to create a design study for a convertible version of the Skoda Karoq crossover. The design team is made up of 20 students, all of whom are either 17 or 18 years old. The goal is to have a concept ready by June, presumably in time for GTI Treffen at Lake Wörthersee in Austria.
Pininfarina Teases Sporty K350 SUV For Beijing Auto Show
Once a glorious company responsible for many Ferrari, Alfa Romeo, and Lancia designs, Pininfarina was hit by a big financial crisis in the late 2000s. As a result, the Italian firm ended all automotive production in 2011 and was eventually sold to Mahindra in 2015. The design house bounced back under Indian ownership and created a few concept cars in recent years, including the H2 Speed and the Fittipaldi EF7 Vision Gran Turismo. Come 2018 and Pininfarina is readying a brand-new concept vehicle for the Beijing Auto Show, this time around developed in cooperation with the Hybrid Kinetic Group.
Let’s not beat around the bush here. The Infiniti Q60 is like the girl next door of the car world. She’s sexy, teases you from a distance with her sweet curves, and has an attitude to back up her good looks. In this case, however, the Q60 has a hotter sister, and the Project Black S is it. Go ahead, you know you want to add some car porn to your desktop ;)
2018 Audi e-tron Vision Gran Turismo
Launched in 2013, the Vision Gran Turismo program gave mainstream automakers to develop wild concept cars for the Gran Turismo 6 and Gran Turismo Sport video games. No fewer than 26 virtual vehicles were created by more than 20 carmakers until 2018, with the likes of Mercedes-Benz, BMW, Aston Martin, Toyota, Chevrolet, Lexus, and Bugatti having joined the ranks. Come 2018 and Audi launched its first concept car for the Gran Turismo Sport video game. But unlike the competition, the Audi e-Tron Vision Gran Turismo is a fully functional vehicle.
While most Vision Gran Turismo concepts were developed exclusively for the pixelated world of Gran Turismo, some were built as full-scale models, and only a small fraction had an actual drivetrain. But none of them were able to function as actual race cars outside the video game. Audi is the first to deploy its Vision Gran Turismo car to real-world racetracks, as the fully-electric vehicle will be used as a taxi during Formula E events.
One of the first manufacturers to enter Formula E with a factory-backed team, Audi is now the first carmaker to offer its customers and guests the opportunity to experience Formula E’s city circuits as passengers in the e-Tron Vision Gran Turismo. This will happen starting April 14, when Formula E goes to Rome, Italy, for the seventh race of the 2017-2018 season. There’s no specific information as to how you can sign up for a ride, but a Vision Gran Turismo concept that actually works in the real world is a might big accomplishment.

Pininfarina’s H500 Concept Proves That The Design House Has Serious Goals of Becoming an Automaker
Pininfarina is no stranger to unveiling concept vehicles at some of the world’s biggest auto shows. It was in Geneva just last month to debut the HK GT, a sleek electric vehicle that proudly showed off some of the biggest gullwing doors you’ll ever see. Not content with that, Pininfarina is attending the Beijing Auto Show with a new concept vehicle. It’s called the H500, and it’s a luxury fastback-like sedan that looks like the closest thing to a production model that Pininfarina has designed in recent memory.
Nissan Will Debut a Secretive Electric Vehicle Next to the Leaf and IMX KURO Concept in Beijing
The 2018 Beijing Auto Show is shaping up to be a showcase of electric cars. Buick’s bringing an electric concept, and now we’ve gotten word that Nissan is doing the same. But, the Japanese automaker isn’t just bringing one electric car; it’s bringing three of them, including a new electric concept that will share the stage with the Nissan Leaf and Nissan iMx KURO electric crossover concept.
2018 Genesis Essentia Concept
There’s no denying that Hyundai has made huge steps in the way of shedding its econobox past and when turned the Genesis name into a standalone brand, it was finally able to compete with the big boys. Now, Genesis is looking even further into the future with the Essentia Concept and boy does it put some of the vision concepts we’ve seen from other big brands to shame. It’s got the right proportions, all the luxury you would need, and there are even butterfly doors in the mix. Genesis hasn’t disclosed much in the way of performance specs, but it does promise a 60-mph sprint of just 3.0-seconds, putting it deep into supercar territory. Even more interesting is the fact that Genesis Boss, Manfred Fitzgerald, is pushing for this thing to go into production. What a time to be alive, huh?
Kia Admits that the Telluride Could Wear K900 Underpinnings
The Kia K900 luxury sedan currently sits as the company’s flagship model. Just don’t expect it to be the only one sitting at that table soon. The Korean automaker’s product planner, Orth Hedrick, hinted that the K900 could be joined by a crossover that will be based on the sedan. Hedrick stopped short of revealing too many details, but his comments brought memories of the Telluride Concept back to the surface. Could it be that Kia’s head product planner is hinting at a production future for the concept SUV that debuted at the 2016 Detroit Auto Show? Stay tuned.
2018 Volkswagen Atlas Tanoak Concept
The Volkswagen Atlas Tanoak Concept wasn’t supposed to appear at the2018 New York Auto Show. But as the story goes, VW execs liked the design study so much it made an 11th-hour decision and brought the Tanoak Concept as a surprise debut. Now that we’ve seen it, we’re glad Volkswagen made the audible because the prototype pickup received such a favorable response that there’s a groundswell of support building on turning the concept car into a full-blown production vehicle. It’s too early to tell if Volkswagen is going to give the people what they want, but don’t be surprised if that light bulb turns on soon.
If Genesis Boss Has His Way, the Essentia Concept Will Make it to Production
When Genesis pulled the covers off of the Essentia Concept, it was received very well – so much so that it was covered to death by every outlet under the sun. Of course, the big problem was that it’s just too conceptual to ever go into production, or at least that’s what everyone thought. As it turns out, Genesis boss, Manfred Fitzgerald, is actually pushing for it and even admitted that its debut at the New York Auto Show is being used to “test the waters.”
It’s an April Fool’s Joke, but Maybe Honda Should do a CR-V Roadster
Automakers are all about creating different and tiny niches these days, and that’s exactly why we have vehicles like the Range Rover Evoque Convertible and the upcoming T-Roc Convertible. The problem with these models is that they are hard to like and that’s exactly why Honda decided to troll Range Rover and Volkswagen for April Fools, announcing that it will, in fact, sell a CR-V Roadster despite the fact that it no roof and is structurally unsound.
“ This is a bold new direction for the CR-V and opens up an entirely new non-existent market. Our sales target is somewhat conservative to start with, at zero cars, but we are confident that once the minor glitches are ironed out, such as the lack of roof and the fact it is totally structurally unsound, the car will fly out of showrooms,” said Eipurirufūru – the Future Opportunity Occupational Lead for Honda.
The CR-V’s structural rigidity has been decreased by 100 percent, thanks to the complete and utter removal of both the B- and C-pillars. And the best part is that prices are “expected to start from half the current price of the CR-B as customers are only getting half the car.” LMAO! You’ve got to love Honda’s sense of humor with this one.
The Essentia Proves Genesis Has What It Takes To Hang With The Big Boys
Breaking into the luxury segment is no easy feat, but so far, so good for Genesis Motors. Establishing itself as a separate standalone brand from Hyundai in 2015, Genesis currently offers customers a duo of premium four-doors, including the G80 and G90, with a third sedan, the G70, slated to arrive soon. And while all three are certainly noteworthy in their own way, we’re far more excited by what Genesis just dropped at the 2018 New York International Auto Show. It’s called the Essentia concept, and it proves that Genesis has what it takes to hang with the big boys.

The Genesis Essentia Concept is Great and All, but Don’t Get Your Hopes Up
Genesis pulled the sheets off of the Essentia electric concept car at the 2018 New York Auto Show. As you might expect, the Essentia was in its own element as one of the few concept cars to make it to the Big Apple. It was in attendance to showcase what a future, Genesis-badged electric car could be in the future. Just don’t get too excited about seeing a production version of the Essentia. It’s probably not happening, though the technology it comes with could evolve into something that Hyundai’s luxury brand can use down the road.
The Genesis Essentia Concept Is The Outrageously Gorgeous EV Concept We Need
The stunner you see here was just revealed at the 2018 New York International Auto Show as the latest concept from Hyundai’s standalone luxury sub-brand, Genesis. It’s called the Essentia, and it’s framed as an all-electric, two-door, Gran Touring model packed with the very latest convenience features. It’s also one helluva looker, in case that wasn’t already completely obvious, and it’s pretty quick as well.

Volkswagen Atlas Tanoak Could Preview U.S.-spec Pickup Truck
Volkswagen has been selling the Amarok pickup truck since 2010, but the midsize is still restricted to European, South American, and African markets as of 2018. This has caused great frustration in the U.S., where truck enthusiasts have been clamoring for a North American version since the Amarok’s introduction. VW still doesn’t show signs that it wants to sell the Amarok in the U.S., but American buyers may get access to a truck soon, as the company just unveiled a concept vehicle with a bed at the 2018 New York Auto Show. Called the Atlas Tanoak, it’s based on the relatively new Atlas SUV and could preview the brand’s next-generation pickup truck.
Volkswagen Atlas Cross Sport Is a Hotter, Sportier Version of the 7-seat Atlas
The highly-anticipated five-door version of the Volkswagen Atlas made its global debut at the 2018 New York Auto Show. But the new SUV is a bit different than we originally imagined it. For starters, the Germans unveiled a production-ready concept vehicle instead of the version we will find in dealerships starting 2019. Second, the Atlas Cross Sport looks nothing like the seven-seat Atlas. While the latter has a more utilitarian stance, this new SUV is sportier and shares some design cues with the Advanced mid-size SUV that Volkswagen just revealed in China.
VW’s Midsize Pickup Concept Could Preview a Potential Competitor for the Ford Ranger, Honda Ridgeline, and Chevy Colorado
Volkswagen has been on a hard EV offensive as it prepares the world for its ID lineup, and yet here we are hearing rumors about VW showing up to the New York Auto Show with a midsized truck concept. The word comes way of Automotive News who supposedly got word from “sources familiar with the matter.” Even more important is that should the public show interest, VW is ready to shift said concept into production at VW’s Tennessee-based production facility.
2018 Jeep Sandstorm
With the 2018 Moab Jeep Safari just around the corner, the legendary off-roading brand is introducing a total of seven new concept cars, including several intended to show off the upgradeable potential of the new JL-gen Wrangler. One such concept is the Jeep Sandstorm, which draws its inspiration from the world of Baja racing trucks with a thumping V-8 under the hood and upgraded suspension to match.

2018 Jeep B-Ute
Introduced in 2014, the Jeep Renegade was received with some skepticism, mostly for being based on a Fiat platform and for being built outside the United States. But the company’s smallest SUV yet became a popular choice in its first three years on the market, with nearly 250,000 units sold in the U.S. and more than 470,000 examples delivered worldwide. The Renegade is close to receiving its mid-cycle update in 2018, but until that happens, Jeep gave the mini SUV a makeover for the Moab Easter Safari. It’s called the B-Ute and is equipped for the ultimate off-road adventure.
Fitted with a series of Jeep Performance Parts, the B-Ute would slot above the Trailhawk model in the lineup if it were to become a production model. It has more rugged features, bespoke interior parts, and enhanced off-roading capability thanks to a lift kit and larger wheels and tires. The name itself is a bit weird, as it combines the letter "B" with the term used for utility vehicles in Australian. Read together, and it would seem like Jeep wanted to call this SUV "beauty." And it’s certainly not! But hey, it was built to tackle rough terrain and not win beauty contests, so it doesn’t really matter.
