It wasn't that long ago when Dodge->ke28's aftermarket department, Mopar, introduced us to the Charger SRT8 Super Bee at the 2011 Los Angeles Auto Show.->ke211

Now that we're few weeks away from the 2012 North American International Auto Show->ke222, Dodge is preparing another special edition version for their resident sports/muscle car.

Ladies and gentlemen, say hello to the Mopar-tuned Dodge Charger Redline.

To make it different from a lot of tuned programs we've seen lately, Mopar divided the Charger Redline's program into three different stages - I to III - that all tackle just about everything and anything you see in, around, and under the sports car. These three programs allow customers to have a full breadth of choices on what kind of program they'd want on their Charger.

Exterior and Interior

The Stage I program for the Charger Redline comes infused with aerodynamic components on both the exterior and interior. Particulars on the exterior components include a full-width Mopar carbon fiber chin spoiler, a Redline Tri-coat paint finish, a two-piece grille that features a body-color painted-grille surround with a black signature "crosshair" insert, a vinyl roof graphic in a matte black finish, carbon fiber door scoops with body-side scallops, a three-piece carbon fiber spoiler, and a new set of 20" Mopar Black Envy Wheels with a Pitch Black-painted wheel face with polished accents.

Inside, the Charger Redline comes with its own aerodynamic components, featuring a Mopar aluminum shift bexel, an aluminum instrument panel bezel with a Redline perimeter accent, and stainless steel Mopar pedal covers that come with a rubberized pattern for improved traction.

Handling and Braking

More than just dressing up the Charger Redline in some fancy new digs, Mopar also addressed the car's performance capabilities, particularly it's handling and braking set-up with the Stage II program.

In order for the car's HEMI V8 engine to perform the way a HEMI engine should, Mopar added a cat-back performance exhaust system that delivers an increase in horsepower and a menacing "throaty" sound. Under the hood of the car, a front-tower cross-brace and front tower brace caps were installed, allowing for an increased structural stability for improved handling dynamics. And finally, Mopar fitted the Charger Redline with high-performance Mopar brake linings that have been track tested to provide ultimate braking power that a car like the Charger Redline needs.

Performance

The last stage of Mopar's program for the Charger Redline - Stage III - involves a spectacular tuning work on the car's Mopar Gen III High Output 426 HEMI V8 engine. From the 370-horsepower output of the 2012 Dodge Charger R/T, Mopar was able to ratchet up the output to an eye-popping 590 horsepower.

Other details that have been added to the new Gen III High Output 426 HEMI engine includes a stout, balanced lower reciprocating assembly that features a forged-steel crankshaft with six-bolt mains at 2, 3 and 4, and cross-bolted 4-bolt mains at 1 and 5. H-beam style rods are made from forged steel and coupled to forged 11:1 compression ratio aluminum pistons.

Other Mopar Features

Because Mopar knows plenty about being an industry heavyweight, the Dodge tuning firm has introduced numerous industry-first features on the Charger Redline, including vehicle information apps, electronic owner manuals, on-car Wi-Fi, an Electronic Vehicle Tracking System, and a WiTECH system that supports vehicle diagnosis and software updates.

Competition

And here we thought the Dodge Charger SRT8 Super Bee was already awesome. Now it appears that Mopar has outdone itself yet again with the introduction of the Mopar-tuned Dodge Charger Redline. Not only does it come with a more powerful HEMI engine - the Super Bee came with the 392 HEMI while the Redline packs the 426 HEMI - but it also comes with an impressive spike in output that even the SRT8 Super Bee's 470-horsepower numbers can't match.
