If there's anything sexier than a Dodge Charger, it is a Dodge Charger equipped with even more fierce-looking equipment. Earlier this week, Dodge announced the 2019 Charger SRT Hellcat Octane Edition that is available in two shades - Pitch Black and White Knuckle. My favorite, of course, being the darker one. The Octane Edition is purely cosmetic and does not add any extra power to the beast. But, when you have over 700 ponies under the hood, you don't really need to tweak the car mechanically.

Desperate Ways To Keep The Sales Clock Ticking

Dodge has been making frequent additions to the Charger's lineup since late 2018. First it added the stripe packages in October 2018, then went on to launch the Satin Black Appearance Package in March 2019, and now, there's the Octane Edition. It finally looks like Dodge has come to the realization that the Charger is too long in the tooth. At a time where cars change generations every three or four years, Dodge has managed to stretch the current-gen Charger for almost eight years now.

What makes the 2019 Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat Octane Edition special

For starters, a lot of body parts and elements are painted in black. This includes the front grille, boot lid, spoiler, and badges. The most noticeable change is the pair of Satin Black center stripes that run across the car complete with Octane Red accents. My favorite change here is the new set of borrowed from the Challenger R/T Scat pack 1320. These black-painted, 20-inch aluminum forged wheels come with knurling on the beat area to minimize the chances of the tires slipping when you are attempting a burn out. Complementing these wheels are the Brembo brakes equipped with red six-piston calipers in front, and four-piston calipers for the rear wheels.

Things get interesting on the inside of the 2019 Charger SRT Hellcat Octane Edition. Dodge has plonked SRT Performance Seats with this edition, making it the first time a Charger is on sale with these seats. The seats come with red accent stitching, as well as black and white houndstooth inserts. The rest of the interior is finished in gloss black, while the red seatbelts break the monotony.

Talking about the Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat, it is the top-trim that comes with all the bells and whistles that Dodge has to offer. In the standard model, it comes with a new performance grille as seen on the Scat Pack along with features like Launch Assist, Line Lock, After-Run Chiller, and Torque Reserve. There is literally nothing new on the inside. As for the optional equipment list, Dodge offers the Satin black hood, the Alcantara interior, and Brass Monkey 20-inch wheels. All these features are exclusive to the Hellcat trim.

The cabin is loaded with stuff like an 8.4-inch Uconnect infotainment system that supports Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and driver-centric features such as Drag mode, transbrake, active suspension, etc. Other features include -

It develops a mammoth 707 horses and 650 pound-feet of torque. Power is sent to the rear wheels via the same eight-speed TorqueFlite transmission system and paddle shifters. The SRT Hellcat can zoom from a naught to 60 miles per hour in 3.4 seconds flat! The active dampers allows the driver to select different suspension tuning with Auto, Sport, and Track modes. These specs coupled with the monstrous engine are enough to leave you dazed for a long time after your drive.

Final Thoughts

Dodge has termed this as a Limited Edition Package and has priced it at $1,495. Given the kind of editions Dodge has offered, I believe this is a stellar deal and you must go for it if you're planning to buy the Dodge Charger Hellcat. With this package, the price of Charger Hellcat has increased from $68,740 to $70,235. Dodge enthusiasts would but the car in a second even if the package was priced 10 times higher. That's the kind of loyal fan-base Dodge has managed to make over the years. And, considering that, this sanely priced package should move off the floors in no time.
