There are options on how you want your special edition D8 GTO-JD70, but all options revolve around the central carbon fiber theme of the model. Visually, the D8 GTO-JD70 Bare Naked Carbon Edition looks splendid in carbon fiber. But the model’s uniqueness is defined by more than just its aesthetic design; the use of carbon fiber also reduces the model’s overall weight, making it more sprightly than your typical range-topping D8 GTO-JD70. Only 70 units of the special edition D8 GTO-JD70 will be built. Pricing starts at €163,636.36, and that’s before taxes kick in. Not content with rolling out a new flagship model, Donkervoort decided to commemorate the launch of the D8 GTO-JD70 by offering the special edition Bare Naked Carbon Edition for those who want to have some personalization fun with the company’s new range-topping model.

What’s so special about the Donkervoort D8 GTO-JD70 Bare Naked Carbon Edition?

The special edition Donkervoort D8 GTO-JD70 is dressed to impress in carbon fiber. Of course, the carbon fiber alone doesn’t make the BNCE a rare breed. Donkervoort is also offering two lacquer options — clear and “colored clear” — with four levels of carbon fiber exposure. Opt for the clear lacquer, and the carbon fiber is essentially exposed, or “naked,” as Donkervort prefers to call it.

Blankets of carbon fiber covering targeted areas of the roadster’s body can also be had as part of the Exposed Carbon Upgrade. Pick your poison among these colors — green, red, gold, and gray — and you can avail them in either matte or high-gloss finish.

From a visual perspective, the Donkervoort D8 GTO-JD70 checks all the boxes of a true special edition piece. The ability to choose the amount to carbon fiber you want is a nice personalization touch, as I’m sure not everyone can handle a car that’s dressed entirely in carbon.

Are there any engine upgrades in the Donkervoort D8 GTO-JD70?

Sadly, there aren’t any. That said, I don’t think it’s a smart idea to add more power to a car that weighs just 1,530 pounds as the D8 GTO-JD70 does. A five-speed manual transmission sends power to the two rear wheels, enabling the D8 GTO-JD70 to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in just 2.8 seconds. Mind you, that’s the standard D8 GTO-JD70. With the lighter BNCE, don’t be surprised if it can cover the same ground in around 2.6 seconds. Do you still want an engine upgrade program?

Final Thoughts

Don’t be fooled by the Donkervoort D8 GTO-JD70. It may not look the part of a terror on four wheels, but it’s capable of serious performance capabilities. Take this for data: the D8 GTO-JD70 is faster to 60 mph than established supercars like the Ferrari F8 Tributo (2.9 seconds) and the Lamborghini Aventador (2.9 seconds). Consider, too, that the Donkervoort D8 GTO-JD70 Bare Naked Carbon Edition should be lighter than the standard D8 GTO-JD70, and you’re talking about a special edition model that’s capable of performance capabilities that are beyond comprehension.
