Chevy finally launched the fifth-gen 2023 Corvette Z06 on 10.26.2021; two years after the C8 Corvette came out. The Z06 is a huge improvement over the standard model in general, but the automaker offers another package that takes this up the notch even more – the Z07 Package. Chevy let out details about the Z07 Package at the Z06’s launch and it is quite impressive. Here’s a rundown of what to expect from it:

What Is The Z07 Package All About?

The Z07 Package ups the ante in many aspects. You get different tires, different wheels, carbon fiber aero elements, larger brakes, and a unique suspension, and so on. Here’s everything that the Z07 Package contains:

Carbon-Fiber Wheels

The use of carbon fiber isn’t too uncommon now. A lot of cars, not just supercars, make use of them these days. Heck, the GMC Sierra truck even comes with a carbon-fiber bed!. Corvette has also equipped a carbon fiber package (more on this later) and carbon fiber wheels.

Some carbon fiber wheels out there only have carbon fiber face but actually feature forged aluminum barrel. These wheels, manufactured by Carbon Revolution, are full carbon fiber. No wonder they are 41 pounds lighter than the standard wheels.

Michelin Sport Cup 2R ZP Tires

The Z06 comes with Michelin Pilot Sport 4S ZP tires as standard. But, when you opt for the Z07 package, you get Michelin Sport Cup 2R ZP rubber on all four corners. These tires are specifically made for the Z06. The automaker didn’t explicitly list the size, which leads us to believe that they measure the same as the standard tires - 275/30 section at the front, 345/25 section at the rear.

Larger Brembo Brakes

When you opt for the Z07 Package, you get bigger brakes also. The braking duties here are taken over by Brembo carbon ceramics with 15.7-inch rotors at the front and 15.4-inch-rotors at the rear. In comparison, the Z06 comes with 14.6-inch rotors up front with six-piston calipers and 15-inch Brembo rotors at the rear as standard. Just like the standard model, this could also be offered with six different caliper colors.

Carbon Fiber Aero Package

As standard, you get a front splitter and a unique rear spoiler on the Z06. There’s also ‘wickerbill’, which is essentially a fixed tab at the edge of the spoiler. This helps increase the downforce by 365 pounds at 186 mph! But, with this, the car offers 734 pounds of downforce at 186 mph. This is more than any other Corvette ever!

The aero elements in the Z07 package are composed of carbon fiber. It includes:

- A larger front splitter- Front-corner canards/dive planes- A pedestal-mounted rear wing- Underbody aero strakes for maximum downforce

Suspension Upgrade

The package also includes a unique FE7 suspension with specific Magnetic Ride Control 4.0. Corvette says they’ve been calibrated specially for this. Even the chassis also receives specific tuning for better handling.

To elaborate on the Magnetic Ride Control, it doesn’t make use of mechanical valves or small parts that are prone to wear. Instead, it comes with a monotube damper that’s filled with magnetorheological fluid, an ECU, and a set of sensors. This results in much better chassis response, are highly precise, and have a faster response rate.
