It seems that the 2020 Bentley Flying Spur has the smallest reverse light ever. The latest Bentley Flying Spur also had a reverse light positioned just at the center, but it was considerably wider.

While at the rear end, just note how Bentley made the "B" out of the taillights. Not exactly a novelty, as Lexus tried to integrate a stylized "L" within the design of its car. Nevertheless, it is a neat curiosity. Bentley did something similar on the rear end of the Bentayga. Designers had more taillight real estate here tough. It works better on the Flying Spur.

Bentley cars are insanely heavy. Its lightest cars usually come just under 5,000 pounds, while the monsters that sit at the top of the food chain add 1,000 pounds to that. Such a monstrosity needs some severe braking power. Bentley opted for the biggest brakes ever fitted to a passenger car - 16.5-inch discs with gloss black calipers. I have to be honest here - the brakes are basically the same as on the Continental GT. One more thing - these discs are smaller compared to the carbon ceramic discs installed on the Lamborghini Urus. They measure more than 17 inches in diameter. That is not a passenger car tough - its a passenger SUV.

The lightest Bentley Bentayga V8 with four seats tip the scales at 5,264 pounds. The one with the V-12 is about 120 pounds heavier. This is completely in line with the Bentley sophistication and opulence that has been present since the very beginning of the company. Back then, Bentley's racing team even created heavier race cars because it was thought that with more weight, one could achieve a better grip. Heck, one of Bentley's most successful racing cars - the 1926 6-1/2 Liter LeMans Sport - was a massive and heavy beast that, thanks to the power of its engine, simply dominated race tracks. Bentley did not change the premise - it still builds big, heavy, and fast cruisers - just like the new Flying Spur.

The 2020 Bentley Flying Spur Can Achieve 207 mph In Sixth Gear With the Seventh and Eight Tailored for Fuel Efficiency

And that in the sixth gear of its 8-speed ZF transmission. This transmission sits under the metal of the Continental GT as well. Bentley did not reveal any MPG values for the Flying Spur, but they cannot be too much different compared to the MPG values of the Continental GT. In that case, the W-12 in the Flying Spur will return up to 20 mpg combined and emit around 300 grams of CO2/km. Seventh and eight gear is crucial for achieving such results.

It is not officially confirmed, but the passengers at the back can actually control the Flying B with this remote. They can retract or deploy it as they please. Quaint little thing!

2020 Bentley Flying Spur Ready For A Hybrid Propulsion System

Right now, the Flying Spur comes only with the W-12. However, expect a powerful 4.0-liter, V-8 soon, and even a hybrid propulsion system based around the V-6.

It is a sophisticated unit with a 3.0-liter, V-6, gasoline engine that develops 340 horsepower, and a 126 horsepower E-Drive electric motor. Bentley (actually VW, but what the heck) estimated this hybrid system generates 443 horsepower and 516 pound-feet of torque. Furthermore, with a sizeable lithium-ion battery with a capacity of 17. kWh, Bentayga Hybrid can travel on electricity for more than 31 miles. I have to believe that the Flying Spur Hybrid can do the same.

The main problem, however, is the weight. We already established that the Flying Spur can be heavier than the Bentayga. Following the same logic, I can infer that the 2020 Bentley Flying Spur Hybrid will tip the scales at insane 5,790 pounds.

Does The New 2020 Bentley Flying Spur Make Mulsanne Obsolete?

I really want to believe that it does not. The Mulsanne is for Bentley what the 918 Spyder was for Porsche - a halo car. Bentley is best in what it does with luxury, and Mulsanne is a car that showcases that. Plus, it is the only reasonable competition to the Rolls Royce Phantom.

Then again, I do not have eight cars in my garage (like an average Bentley owner), and I certainly am not, an African dictator, so I don't have a clue if someone would find the Flying Spur lackluster.

I am, however, a guy you will crunch for you all the important numbers for the Mulsanne and the Flying Spur.

There's no way of going around this, so the 2020 Bentley Flying Spur price will start at around $240,000. I based this assessment on the fact that the outgoing model sold for just under $230k. I believe that the new one with such a beautiful look and fantastic tech inside will go for more.
