BMW just revealed the new 2020 BMW X6 as one of the most ostentatious vehicles in the world. This SAC (Sports Activity Coupe) continues in the footsteps of its predecessors who found their way to more than 443,000 owners. As one of the most successful vehicles in the BMW lineup, the latest 2020 BMW X6 builds on the newest line of Beemers taking all the dynamic talents from smaller models and combining it with the tech and styling we have familiarized with after the introduction of the latest 8 Series car.

I give you here some rather unusual quirks and facts of the new 2020 BMW X6.

Illuminati... I mean Illuminated Grill On The 2020 BMW X6

Some Chinese and Japanese drivers love glitz and bling. They have garnished all sort of cars with strange lighting solutions. It is there where neon underglow reached popularity after Andrew Wilson invented it in 1987. However, the X6 has one more lighting solution that, it seems, found its way on the BMW directly from the Chinese rice scene. BMW designers decided to illuminate the double kidney grille of the new X6. It is not a wholly new design detail as Mercedes-Benz offers illuminated three-point star emblem on its cars for specific markets. However, I have to say that I've seen illuminated BMW grills on numerous tuned BMWs. It never looked good. That is why BMW wanted to create a discreet solution that would only look good at night (and in the rearview mirror). Honestly, I am not a fan of makeup like this on cars, but in the same vein, I can't wait to see the BMW X6 with an illuminated grille in my rearview mirror. It should look awesome.

Luckily, this is optional equipment. Do not expect to see it on every X6.

This is how it works:

"The illumination is activated by opening or

closing the car, but the driver can switch it on and off manually too."

The 2020 BMW X6 M50i Can Accelerate To 62 Quicker Than the Maserati GranTurismo MC Stradale or The Audi R8 V8

For some reason, I was not thinking about the new BMW X6's performance when I saw it. At all. However, then, I glanced at the specs while looking for its height, and the first thing I saw was - "0-62 mph: 4.3 seconds".

Hell yea!

The fact that this massive behemoth is faster than the Maserati GranTurismo MC Stradale and the Audi R8 V8 is on point, however.

The BMW X6 M50i features the same engine as the M850i. It is a 4.4-liter, V-8 with 523 horsepower and 553 pound-feet of torque. That's a lot, but about 100 horsepower short of the upcoming BMW X6M. I cannot even imagine the brutality of that one. We will have to wait a bit to see.

The sheer power and straight line acceleration aren't the only benefits of the X6 M50i. The X6 M50i comes as standard with the M Sport package, and numerous equipment that enhances its real-world performance.

Standard equipment on the X6 M50i includes:

-* Adaptive M suspension

-* Dynamic Damper Control

-* Air suspension with automatic self-leveling at the rear axle

-* Electromechanical power steering with M specific configuration

-* Standard with 21-inch M light-alloy wheels

The 2020 BMW X6 Diesel Can Accelerate To 62 Quicker Than 2010 Ford Mustang GT

The 2010 Ford Mustang GT with a 4.6-liter, V-8 and 304 horsepower can accelerate to 62 mph in 5.5 seconds. Sure, 304 horsepower from such a V-8 seems kinda dismal, but that does not affect the fact that massive SAC with a 3.0-liter diesel engine can accelerate to 62 quicker than the Mustang GT with a V-8. The 2020 BMW X6 M50d can reach the magical number in 5.2 seconds according to BMW's specs sheet. That usually means it can do it even quicker in the real world and on a good day. The 3.0-liter diesel engine develops 400 horsepower and astonishing 560 pound-feet of torque. It can also return 39 mpg. Yea, I know! Incredible.

The 2020 BMW X6 Can Be Had with a Panorama Glass Sky Lounge With Over 15,000 Illuminated Dots

Rolls Royce's Starlight headliner is one of the coolest illuminated headliners in industry. You can ask Rolls Royce designers to position LEDs in the headliner to mimic a specific part of the night sky. It is like having your own universe. With the latest generation of the X5 and the X7 SUVs BMW adopted the tech too. Now, it landed in the BMW X6 under the designation of the "Panorama glass roof Sky Lounge."

The LEDs create a pattern reminiscent of the starlit sky, but it also gives a certain aura of sophistication and a unique ambiance inside. As is the case with the Sky Lounge feature in the X5 and the X7, you can choose the color and even some patterns that appear on the Sky Lounge glass roof.

The 2020 BMW X6 Can Be Had With Optional Thermoelectric Cup Holders to Keep Drinks Hot or Cold

Thanks to optional thermoelectric cup holders the 2020 BMW X6 will keep your drinks cold or hot in the front cup holders. The thermoelectric cup holders operate according to the so-called Peltier effect that creates a temperature difference by transferring heat between two electrical junctions.

Glass Applications Can Make the 2020 BMW X6 Interior More Pleasant And Modern Than Ever

We all remember that cool glass gear lever from the 2020 BMW M850i. Well, BMW did an even better job with the glass applications in the new X6. You can have glass surfaces on the transmission selector lever, the iDrive controller, start/stop button, and the volume control potentiometer. Add it to this fantastic ambient lighting and that cool panoramic roof for the ultimate exclusive ambiance, only luxury cars can create.

Can The 2020 BMW X6 Do Offroad With Optional xOffroad Package?

I am not sure if anyone will ask a BMW sales representative if the new X6 can go offroad, but if there are such drivers, let me tell you that BMW offered an optional xOffroad Package for the X6. It is available only with the xLine guise (MSport is the other available option) which, by itself, gives some off-road credentials like protective plates under the engine and the Pearl-effect Chrome effect on the air intakes, side grilles, side skirts with trim strips, Air Breather edging, air flaps, and exhaust tailpipes.

You also get mode selection options called "snow, sand, gravel, and rock". Each selection affects the throttle response, transmission behavior, and xDrive power distribution. While it won't make the X6 cosplay the Wrangler, it will help with driving challenges met on certain terrains.

The 2020 BMW X6 Has Numerous Driving Aids

The latest line of BMW vehicles teams with advanced driving assistant solutions that make everyone a good driver. The 2020 BMW X6 is like that - it will make you a better driver than you are thanks to solutions such as:

-* Driving Assistant Professional

-* Parking Assistant

-* Reversing assistant

-* Parking Assistant Plus

The X6 will scan the surroundings and start with the lane-change on its own when it figures out it is safe.

The Parking Assistant works as you'd hope it does - by scanning for free parking spaces, notifying you about it, and maneuvering the car into a parking area completely automatically.

The reversing assistant, on the other hand, is quite the novel technology. The system memorizes all steering movements made while driving forward (up to 22 mph). Then, if you feel uneasy about driving in reverse the same route, the system can pilot the X6 in reverse for up to 150 feet. This technology should give you much freedom in multistory carparks. The same tech debuted on the latest 3 series. I am sure others will accept it too.

2020 BMW X6 Pricing

Assembled at the Spartanburg BMW plant, the new 2020 BMW X6 is basically an American car. Do not think for a minute though that it does not have a European price. It is expensive:
