What does the three colors in the M logo represent?

The three strips in BMW M logo have a pretty interesting origin.

Blue is the color for the Bavarian region, red is the color that belonged to one of the legendary BMW’s partners, Texaco, and violet is a mix of the first two color and is a symbol of the collaboration between the two companies. After Texaco ended its collaboration with BMW and the Germans started to use Castrol, BMW bought the rights of using the red color.
