When did Mercedes produced its first hybrid vehicle?

40 years ago, in 1969!

It was a bus - a Mercedes-Benz OE 302. It has a passenger car diesel engine, a generator and DC shunt motor in the rear, while batteries were mounted between the axles. The bus developed a total of 204 hp.The diesel engine - a 3,8 liter ones - developed 65 hp and the five batteries had an autonomy of 2,5 hours.
