When any news comes surrounding the Ferrari 458 Italia, we tend to think, "Great, another car caught fire today," but that isn't going to be the case for long. Ferrari has already recalled the affected cars, so good things should begin to come about. That first good thing is the 458 Italia's customization program from Fabspeed Motorsport, which is the first program that offers significant changes under the hood.

Fabspeed began their overhaul on the inner workings of the 458 Italia->ke3479 by replacing the OEM units with an efficient manifold, as well as adding new sport headers. The headers are larger in diameter (1.75"/44mm compared to 1.5"/38mm) and weigh about 13lbs less than the factory products. These changes add an extra 34HP and 38 ft-lbs of torque to the wheels (be careful, we are not talking about power to the crank). Matching the new headers with OEM catalytic converters or Fabspeed 200 cell Sportcats allows for an even bigger boost in power with an additional 24HP and 20 ft-lbs of torque to the wheels.

Other changes to the car consist of replacing the large OEM mufflers with Maxflo mufflers which add an additional 8HP and 5 ft-lbs of torque to the wheels. These mufflers can be used with OEM tri-tips or Fabspeed's "458 Challenge" dual-tips which are 4.5"/115mm T304 stainless steel with carbon fiber background.

The final result is an impressive 518 HP to the wheels (that's about 630 HP to the crank, a considerable improvement over the standard 570 HP). Anyone would be crazy not to take full advantage of this massive power jump, especially now that the Ferrari->ke252 458 Italia has been reworked to not burst into flames. This is an amazing vehicle and Fabspeed have just made it that much better.
