• 2014 Ferrari 458 Speciale By Mansory

Mansory is arguably one of the most famous supercar tuners in the world. Mansory’s got a bevy of programs for some of the fastest and most powerful exotics, and its new program for the Ferrari 458 Speciale is just the latest in that long and impressive list.

As awesome as the Ferrari 458 Italia is, the 458 Speciale is better in every facet. But Mansory has a way of turning "better" into "best."

That’s the approach the Swiss tuner took in developing a carbon fiber aerodynamic package for the 458 Speciale, turning the proud Italian supercar into a carbon-clad exotic that fits Mansory’s outrageous style.

There are no performance modifications aside from carbon-induced weight loss, but I’m assuming that will change in the near future. This 458 Speciale aerodynamic program is likely not the final product because if there’s anything we’ve come to know about Mansory, it’s that it loves engine upgrades as much as it does carbon fiber.

If Mansory drops a few horsepower improvements into the 458 Speciale, we will be the first to let you know.

Ferrari 458 Speciale by Mansory in detail

Even if Mansory left the 458 Speciale’s 4.5-liter V-8 engine alone - for now - the Swiss tuner still went out of its way to give the Italian exotic plenty of new carbon fiber aerodynamic components.

Put a standard 458 Speciale side by side with this Mansory-tuned version and you’ll notice that the front lip, air vents, air outlets, and winglets have been replaced with carbon fiber versions. The same treatment was also applied to the rear wing and the diffusor, further establishing Mansory’s reputation as one of the industry’s best in-house producers of carbon fiber.

The difference lies in the details, ladies and gentlemen.

Every model Ferrari makes gets a performacne oriented mid-life upgrade, and the 458 Italia was no different. As soon as it was unveiled the 458 Speciale garnered plenty of attention. It wasn’t just more aesthetically pleasing, but it also had a more powerful engine, improved aerodynamics, and enough traction modifications to make it one of the most capable road cars Ferrari has ever built. That shouldn’t be overlooked given the company’s history of producing some of the best cars in the world.

The biggest takeaway from the 458 Speciale is its improved 4.5-liter V-8 engine. It’s the same powertrain the 458 Italia uses, but it has been massaged to produce 596 horsepower and 398 pound-feet of torque, 34 ponies more than the 458 Italia. That engine is also mated to a 7-speed F1 dual-clutch transmission, allowing the 458 Speciale to cover 0 to 62 mph in just three seconds, four-tenths of a second faster than the 458 Italia, with a top speed of over 202 mph.

Kirby’s first exposure into the world of automobiles happened when he caught Knight Rider on television as a five-year old boy. David Hasselhoff didn’t leave much of an impression on him (that happened later on in Baywatch), but KITT certainly did. To this day, Kirby remains convinced that he will one day own a car with the same ‘spirit’ as the original KITT (not the 2008 monstrosity). He doesn't know when that will be, but until then, he’s committed to expressing his love for KITT, and all cars for that matter, here at TopSpeed.  Read full bio

Winglets, front lip, air vents, air outlets, sideskirts, rearwing, diffusor and many, many other parts are available as add-on parts for the Ferrari 458 Speciale. No matter from which point of view the car is admired, fresh and appealing carbon details spring everywhere to the eye.

Thanks to an in-house autoclave, MANSORY need leave neither the carbon-fibre development nor the manufacture to an outside supplier.
