Do These Spy Shots Prove That There’s a Special Edition of the Ferrari FXX K Evo On the Way?
Spy photographers at the Nurburgring have caught Ferrari testing the FXX K Evo. As no one expects the Italians to create an even fiercer version of it, the wholly camouflaged FXX K Evo is a surprising sight at the very least. However, the whole ideology behind the Ferrari XX line of cars opens a whole world of possibilities. Created for specific customers that are a part of Ferrari’s Corse Clienti race program, the FXX K Evo cars are, more or less, a laboratory on wheels, and a testbed for Ferrari’s latest technologies. After all, a lot of the technology that Ferrari develops in its racing series (F1, GT3, or Challenge series) eventually migrate to the FXX series of cars. It has been the same jazz since 2004 when Ferrari introduced the first Enzo-based FXX.
Is This The Long Rumored Ferrari Dino We’ve All Been Waiting For?
Back in the late 1960s, Ferrari decided it wanted to create an “affordable” lineup of vehicles, ones that would be able to take on vehicles like the Porsche 911, and the Dino name – which honored Alfredo “Dino” Ferrari – was born. The idea was that the Dino name would be used on non-V-12-powered vehicles, while the V-12 models would continue under the Ferrari name. Between 1968 and 1976, Ferrari launched a few different “Dino” models, including the Dino 206 GT, Dino 246 GT and GTS, and the Dino 308 GT4 2+2. In 1976, the Dino name was discontinued in favor of the Ferrari name. More recently rumors have been flying that the Dino would make a return, and in mid-2015, Sergio Marchionne even stated that Ferrari would bring back the nameplate – it wasn’t a question of if, but when. It’s been a long time coming, and we’ve seen what looked to be a 458-mule testing back in late 2015, but since then the trail has gone cold. Until this morning, that is, when we received a new set of spy shots that could very well be the V-6 powered Dino the world has been waiting for.
Like the mule we saw in late 2015, this mule is also based on the 458, but it’s sporting a cue or two that hint at this being the real McCoy. As such, the pictures you see here could very well be the proof we’ve been waiting for. Is the Dino program back on track after going cold more than a year ago? 2020 Ferrari Purosangue
Back in October of 2014, we reported that Ferrari has no plans to include and SUV or a sedan in its lineup. Of course, now we have Bentley and Lamborghini stepping foot into the SUV market, but what about Ferrari? Well, apparently it still isn’t going to happen. In a recent earnings call with analysts, Ferrari CEO Sergio Marchionne was asked about a Ferrari SUV, and – according to Bloomberg Business – his response was simply “Over my dead body.”
Apparently, Marchionne is so stubborn that he still won’t step up to the plate and enter the SUV market, despite all the competition and interest from the public. Sure, not everybody likes the idea, but you can’t please everybody either. Marchionne may not want an SUV, but that doesn’t mean it will never happen. So, we decided to put together a rendering of what a Ferrari SUV could look like.
It might seem like we’re getting a little ahead of ourselves, but at the same time, Ferrari shares are the lowest they have been since the company separated from Fiat Chrysler. Investors have even been warned that growth will slow down this year. At some point, investors are going to request a change or Ferrari is going to end up in a deep hole that it might struggle to get out of. With that said, let’s take a look at our rendering and talk about what a future Ferrari SUV might look like.

The Dino brand, created by Ferrari for models with engines with fewer than 12 cylinders, spanned from 1968 to 1976, and included cars such as the iconic 246 GTS. Now it looks like Ferrari is going to resurrect the name for an entry-level sports car. Rumors about Ferrari planning to develop a V-6-powered sports car have been flying around for some years now. It took Maranello a lot to admit such a model is underway, but Sergio Marchionne finally came clean in June 2015, telling Autocar that a V-6 Ferrari is "not a question of if but when." Two months have passed since then and our spy photographers caught a 458-based mule in the wild. According to them, the car didn’t sound like the usual V-8. What’s more, the mule was followed by a 488 that didn’t sound like it was using a turbocharged V-8 either, but rather the turbo V-6 used in the newly revealed 2016 Alfa Romeo Giulia QV.
Could this mean that Ferrari is finally testing the sports car that will revive the Dino nameplate? This seems to be the likely scenario, especially since the 458 mule sports a number of features hinting toward a new exterior design and a different powerplant.
Of course, we’re nearly three years away from seeing the real deal in the metal and it will probably take at least 12 months until we get to see a pre-production body on that mule, but that won’t stop me from speculating what this Ferrari might bring to the market. Updated 10/01/2015: According to AutoCar, Ferrari just filled patents for its upcoming V6-powered Dino sports car. The new drawings reveal that the 2018 Dino will be a "convertible car with a rigid sunroof and a front engine." So apparently, the upcoming Dino will feature a retractable roof - just like the 488 Spider and will get the same 3.0-litre V-6 engine used in the Alfa Giulia.

A new image has surfaced of what’s believed to be a harder, faster version of the 2013 Ferrari F12 Berlinetta, tentatively called F12 ‘GTO’ or F12 ‘Speciale.’ The un-camouflaged yellow car is also a dead ringer for the one that appeared in leaked screenshots in June, purportedly from a yet-to-be-released online configurator for prospective customers.
The spy pic comes courtesy of Cavallino Rampante and provides a clear, unobscured, rear three-quarters view. As also seen in the configurator image, it has a black strip running between the two circular taillights, a sizable rear diffuser and carbon fiber exhaust clusters that look like they could also have some kind of aerodynamic function.
Moving around to the sides, we see three shark-gill air outlets over the rear wheels, which are inspired by those of the Series I 1962-1964 Ferrari 250 GTO. The doors appear unchanged from the F12, but there are new carbon side skirts and a carbon-fiber accent that cascade over the front quarter panel, aft of the rear wheel. The 10-spoke wheels are completely new too.

Ever wondered what Ferrari would look like if it became, to quote former CEO Luca di Montezemolo, “American?" Well, Jalopnik writer and artist Jason Torchinsky did just that, creating a series of hilarious Ferrari-based renderings that show a number of models receiving America’s unabashed imprint.
The F12 Brougham and the FF Sportwagen could actually pass of as legitimate Ferraris if you’re looking at them while in an inebriated state, but that’s the extent of it. The rest of the renderings take a turn for the insanely hilarious. There’s the 458 Montana SUV that looks like a moustachioed 458 on PEDs; the 458 Eagle with “vertical stabilizing fins” and a Pontiac Firebird-inspired eagle hood graphic; the 458 Rebele with welded doors and General Lee-inspired livery; and the three-wheeled Florida T with an exposed supercharger and a meth-dispenser system.
But the coup de grâce is the limited edition LaFerrari Van that might actually make for a pretty decent family car if not for the fact that it isn’t real.
Well done, Jason. Well done. Somewhere Ferrari executives are typing up a cease and desist letter.

The turbocharged California T came as a big surprise in early 2014, but it appears Ferrari aims to add forced induction to all of its V-8-powered sports cars. Concerned about both fuel economy and safe ways to increase output, the Italians are testing a turbocharged version of the Ferrari 458 as we speak. While rumors about a force-fed 458 surfaced in early 2014 when a white mule was spotted playing in the snow, a new batch of spy shots featuring a camouflaged sports car comes to confirm the turbo 458 is well underway.
Reportedly dubbed M458-T, the new iteration of the company’s entry-level sports car is expected to see significant gains in terms of horsepower. Specifically, the turbocharger attached to the new V-8 unit is likely to push output to around 670 ponies, a 74-horsepower addition to the 596 ponies available with the 458 Speciale. Of course, more power means an updated cooling system and revised aerodynamics as well, with minor design changes to further mark the introduction of the first turbocharged 458.

Ever since the LaFerrari was unveiled at last year’s Geneva Motor Show, Ferrari aficionados have been dreaming about a track-exclusive version of the ultra-fast hybrid. Something in the vein of the FXX, an Enzo-based race car built in 30 units between 2005 and 2007 or even the F40 LM.
It took the Italians more than a year to admit they will be building one, but they finally did it a couple of days ago, when Antonello Coletta, chief of Ferrari’s Sporting Activity Department, said LaFerrari race car with the "XX" moniker attached to its name is underway.
Those of you that were still reluctant to the news will be quite happy to find out that a prototype version of the LaFerrari XX is already being tested. And to remove any trace of doubt, we have a batch of spy shots to prove it.
The mule showed up at the Nurburgring track (where else?), wearing nothing but its carbon-fiber suit. Interestingly enough, there are no aerodynamic-enhancing parts attached to the body (yet), but the supercar is obviously fitted with lightweight polycarbonate windows, mandatory for any lightweight, race-spec vehicle.

It may not seem like it, but the Ferrari 458 is starting to show its age when compared to its competitors’ newest models like the Huracán and 650S. It’s conceivable then that this white stallion prancing around in the snow might be the 458’s replacement.
Caught drifting around snow banks in Northern Sweden, this Ferrari test mule is definitely helping develop something. The first and most noticeable thing are the front fenders. It looks like some engineer needed more room to mount snow tires, so a Sawzall was used to open up the wheel wells. Around the side, black tape seems to be holding body panels together just forward of the rear tire. We’re not too sure what’s going on here, but Ferrari certainly has something up its sleeve.
We suspect the 458’s replacement would generate more power than the current car and matching, or more likely, exceeding the 610 horsepower from the Lamborghini Huracán and getting close to the 640-horsepower output of the McLaren 650S. A dual-clutch transmission is an inevitable return, and could either the be same seven-speed unit the 458 currently has or perhaps Ferrari is working on a unit with more gears. Only time will tell.
This does seem to be a very early prototype in the 458 replacement program, given it’s the first one photographed and its body panels are ill-fitting. Keep posted to TopSpeed for any developing information.

Back in July, we heard the first rumors of a possible return to Le Mans competition for Ferrari. We heard the first semi-official confirmation of this return in December when Ferrari president, Luca di Montezemolo, decided to comment on those rumors.
The firestorm is now growing, as a very strange Ferrari prototype was caught testing on the Mugello race track, which may be the ultimate confirmation that the Italian company could indeed return to Le Mans.
A while ago, we came across a video that revealed a LaFerrari testing something other than its usual hybrid powertrain. Now, new rumors suggest that the engine tested was not a turbocharged V-6 engine, but likely a supercharged V-8 engine or a hybrid powertrain that are more suitable for endurance racing.
Along with the new engine, the Le Mans LaFerrari will also be equipped with lots of aerodynamic modifications and a huge rear wing to produce the downforce needed for racing, according to the above image.

The Ferrari F12berlinetta and its predecessor, the 599, are some of the baddest front-engine, V-12 supercars in the world. Poke each with a sharp stick, and they will easily hit 60 mph in less than 3.5 seconds, and deliver lap times ahead of anything else with the engine out front.
But the Ferrari pricing and positioning strategy seems backwards to some outsiders. The 458 is the entry-level car, then the FF wagon, then the F12 and ultimately, the million-dollar LaFerrari.
As the flagship production car line, the F12 is absolutely one of the best cars ever made. Period. Its high-dollar clients like it so much that the previous 599XX program of special, owners-only racing events has become a major profit center for the Prancing Horse.
A bit like renting a car for about $50,000 a day for a few days a year, the Corsa Clienti and XX evolution programs have some rich history with Ferrari. Worth recalling that the 288 GTO Evoluzione both directly spawned the F40 and a whole generation of turbocharged sports cars from Japan.
So to really get buyers to open the checkbook wider than ever, the F12XX program must whet their appetite for the front-engine exotic, but also leave them wanting even more. A buyer of one car suddenly owns two red stallions. It does not take an accountant to know how lucrative this double-down selling strategy is.
Of course, spending time on Yas Marina circuit or Imola with hundreds of racing-overalls-wearing Ferrari engineers does bring a bit more street cred when wearing a red baseball hat back home in the standard F12.
So what do these double-rich buyers want from the XX program of the latest F12 supercar? Will it be a lightness and stripped-out racing program, a test-bed for new tires and manettino settings?
Or just a fun way to set the brakes on fire while keeping the wide-eyed racing stare of F1 heroes?

While is not completely correct to call these "spy shots," we always get pretty excited when we have the chance to bring you some new details on the recently announced Ferrari LaFerrari.
Its true the car made its world debut at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show, but customers will still have to wait a while before getting the chance to actually drive it. So, Ferrari is taking this time to put the car through some testing sessions, and the latest took place on the Nurburgring.
Our spy photographers happened to be at the `Ring and had the chance to snap a few shots of the new LaFerrari. It may look like the supercar is still wearing camouflage, but this is actually just protective foil.
According to the our photographers. the sounds coming from the engine was music to their ears, and it’s too bad that this wonderful noise doesn’t come through in still images.

YouTube user BabyloNordschleife is one of the luckiest folks on Earth, as he managed to catch not one, but three LaFerraris on tape. He spotted the first one on an Italian highway between Carpi and Modena, and he caught the other two — on was completely uncovered and the other was almost completely uncovered — inside the Maranello Factory. Judging by the triple-take the engineer working on the LaFerrari outside of the factory gave the cameraman, he certainly did not approve of having the camera pointed Ferrari’s newest supercar.
The only problem with the video is that we only get a few clear clips of the LaFerrari accelerating. Even with the lack of great audio, the video remains fantastic.
As a reminder, the LaFerrari is powered by a HY-KERS system that combines a 6.3 liter V-12 engine with two electric motors for a total output of 963 horsepower — 800 delivered by the V-12 engine and 163 by the electric motors. This system will sprint the car from 0 to 60 mph in less than 3 seconds and up to a top speed of more than 217 mph.

The chances to catch a supercar testing on public roads are pretty few, so when it happens, we get pretty excited. We are doubly excited when we are talking about an Italian supercar that everyone is anxiously awaiting. People may call it in different things — F70, F150, etc. — but we all know it as the new "Ferrari Enzo."
The new F150 — we strongly hope this won’t be the final name — will be powered by a 6.3-liter V-12 hybrid drivetrain dubbed the HY-KERS system. This system will deliver a total of 920 horsepower and will considerably improve the car’s performance numbers when compared to the original Enzo. For example, the sprint from 0 to 200 km/h (124 mph) will be reduced by 10 percent to 6.5 seconds.
The new Ferrari F150 is expected to be unveiled in March at the Geneva Motor Show and when it hits showrooms, it will take on models like McLaren P1 and Porsche 918 Spyder. The only downside is that it will be limited to only 500 units.
As you can clearly see from the spy shots, the F150 is still not near completion, as it still features that odd-looking fascia, which looks almost like a largemouth bass about to gobble up a worm. The backside, on the other hand, looks like it is just some mild adjustments away from being in production form. With the Geneva Auto Show sneaking up, Ferrari needs to get this beast all wrapped up soon.

Ferrari Corse Client, in cooperation with motorsports firm Michelotto Automobili, is currently testing the 2013 specification 458 Italia GT3. The test was held behind closed doors at the Adria circuit today, but the company was kind enough to offer us some initial details of the 2013 458 GT3 race car.
After being initially unveiled in 2011, the 458 GT3 scored important title wins in Europe and Asia. For the 2013 racing season, the model received numerous updates, including a new aerodynamic bodywork and subtle changes to the drivetrain and suspension. The engine will once again remain unchanged, so expect a 4.5-liter V8 engine with an output limited to 550 HP - unlike the road-going version which delivers 570 HP - as per FIA regulations.
Based on the 458 Italia, the GT3 version proved to be one of the most successful cars ever built in Maranello. It won the Asia GT3 series and also scored impressive results in the Open GT, the Blancpain Endurance Championship and the International GT Sprint series.
With a revised aero kit, there’s no telling how much success the 2013 model will have when it hits the racing tarmac.
Thanks to a leaked teaser of the Ferrari F70 a.k.a the next Enzo, the rumor train is now at its peak.
Using the various pictures that Ferrari has taken and keeping Pininfarina’s current design language in mind, a man named Angelo Granata has created a beautiful rendering of what he thinks is the next Ferrari F70.
It does stay true to the Ferrari design language, although if you glance at the dual-projector LED headlamps for a moment, it has an uncanny resemblance to the Aventador. Now that is something that Ferrari would definitely avoid, given the heavy rivalry. Also it’s lacking the iconic F1-inspired nose from the original Enzo, which was a distinguishing factor in terms of design. This nose does, however, serve a purpose, as its duckbill shape adds much-needed downforce to the front axle as the vehicle’s speed increases.
The rear end is a perfect mixture of the F12Berlinetta, Enzo and the 458 Italia, though the quartet tail lamps may not make it in the final design. The virtual concept’s body measures in at 4,650 mm (183.1 inches) long X 2,030 mm (79.9 inches) wide X 1,080 mm (42.5 inches) high, but no estimated weight was given.
The concept houses a mechanically actuated spoiler which is not only cool as heck, but also keeps the car planted on the track. With the kind of power the Enzo successor is supposed to pump out, that actuated wing may not be a bad idea.
The Ferrari GTE virtual concept is fitted with a 7.3-liter V-12 engine that pumps out 800 horsepower and a KERS hybrid system that adds an extra 120 ponies to the stable. This gives it a net horsepower of 920, which is exactly what all of the rumors are pointing to with the new F70. Unfortunately, the engine setup isn’t confirmed, except for the KERS system, so this is still just speculation.
With Ferrari being as silent as a monk on the Ferrari F70, we can do nothing but drool at these concept pictures and hope that some elements make it to the final official design.

We’ve had a pretty exciting 2012 with so many supercars, special editions and one-offs being released this year. There’s one of these bad boys that we still haven’t seen yet with the exception of some camouflaged spy videos and teaser images here and there, and that’s the Ferrari F70.
As the successor to the iconic Enzo, the F70 is a big deal. A pretty huge deal, in fact. So, it comes as no surprise that the entire automotive world is eager to see what the F70 is going to look like and are foaming at the mouth to find out its performance credentials.
Well, we have some interesting news regarding the former because it appears that a teaser photo of the F70 was unveiled at a recent Ferrari event in China. The photo, which comes by way of a Chinese Weibo page via GT Spirit, shows a Prancing Horse supercar peeking out of the shadows with the headlights and the air vents on the hood clearly distinguishable.
We wish there was a clearer photo of the car, but seeing as we’ve been hopelessly waiting for photos of the F70, we’ll take any photo of it anyway we can get it.
Since Ferrari has decided to make us wait a little bit longer by not bringing the new F70 F70 to the Detroit Auto Show, we’ll just have to be satisfied with the details we can get on the upcoming supercar. Today, we have a series of new images that reveal some details of the interior and the car’s carbon monocoque.
The next F70 will be powered by a V-12 engine with an F1-inspired KERS system that will pump out a combined 920 horsepower. This power, combined with a total weight of less than 2,500 pounds, will easily sprint the car to speeds of up to 250 mph.
It is rumored that the Enzo successor will be making its world debut at the Geneva Motor Show, which kicks off in March 2013. When it finally hits the market, the new Ferrari F70 will cost about €1.5 million (roughly $1.9 million at the current exchange rates).
Last week, at the 2012,Paris Auto Show, Ferrari unveiled a unique composite chassis for the upcoming F70 hybrid supercar. Today, a leaked scan from Ferrari Magazine Number 18 revealed a few more details on the future hybrid powertrain. The image shows a big V12 engine and, of course, a lot of power lines that are part of the hybrid KERS system.
This image doesn’t help in identifying the exterior or interior design of the future supercar, but it does give us an idea of the power source. We still are waiting for the official details, but rumors suggest that the next F70 will combine a 900 HP V-12 engine and a 120 HP KERS system for a total output of more than 1000 HP.
This combustion engine links to a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. On the electrical side, you have a series of components working together for optimal efficiency. On the backside of the seven-speed trans, you have a high-power traction motor. This motor electrifies the seven-speed trans, adding to the power the engine delivers to it. Attached to the gasoline engine is an auxiliary generator that charges the batteries, as needed. Lastly, on top of the transmission is the hybrid power unit, which features two inverters and a smart cooling system.
The next Ferrari F70 is expected to make its world debut in March 2013 at the Geneva Motor Show, so stay tuned!
