When Ford announced the new generation Expedition, it also announced the addition of the new Timberline trim - a model described by Ford as "the most off-road-capable Expedition ever."

Now, Ford took this off-road capability even further with the announcement of the new Expedition Timberline Off-Grid Concept. It will be displayed at the Overland Expo East at Oak Ridge Estates in Arrington, Virginia this upcoming weekend and the in November at the 2021 SEMA Show.

What's different about the Ford Expedition Timberline Off-Grid Concept?

As we said the Off-Grid Concept started its life as the Expedition Timberline which has a ground clearance of 10.6 inches. The concept however comes equipped with custom FOX® Performance Elite Series 2.5-inch shocks with Dual Speed Compression™ adjusters and remote reservoirs front and rear. The result? As extra two inches when it comes about ground clearance, so, it now rides 12.6 inches above the ground.

Other accessories offered by the concept include:

- Thule Tepui Explorer tent with crossbars

- factory-available transmission shield

- Overland Vehicle Systems’ Nomadic 180-degree awning

- Wild Land portable privacy room shower.

Because this is a concept designed for off-roading and exploring, offering a good illumination during the night was a must. So, it comes equipped with a 50-inch Rigid® light bar mounted above the windshield, an additional Rigid 20-inch light bar placed below the grille and D-SS Rigid side shooter cube lights installed atop the hood.

The interior was also prepared for off-roading and camping. First of all it comes with a Clarios AGM battery that should allow the concept to handle the extra electric load.

The concept also comes equipped with a trailer that will make the Expedition Timberline even more prepared for wild adventures. It will be offered with the same Method brand wheels and Grabber all-terrain tires as the concept and will be equipped with:

- two-burner propane stove and deep-well sink

- a pair of drop-down tables

- 42-gallon water tank and six-gallon water heater with external shower hookup

- pancake propane tank

- a refrigerator

- a 100-watt solar panel
