• 2021 Ford F-150 Tremor

A fantastic package that elevates the off-roading prowess of the truck manyfold

Ford decided to introduce the Tremor model on the 2021 F-150. This comes at a time when we are gearing up for the F-150 Raptor’s launch. Because there’s something for every potential customer, the F-150 sells like hotcakes.

The Tremor is essentially a package that makes it more proficient off the roads while retaining its core capabilities. In the F-150, it slots between the FX4 package and the Raptor. The company offers the Tremor on the Super Duty and the Ranger, so it is a tried-and-tested package that you can’t go wrong with. On this truck, it will be available in the SuperCrew configuration only with the 5.5-foot bed.

The truck features Raptor-style bash plates at the front. Ford has redesigned the hood and front end for a more muscular, aggressive profile. The unique grille features a blacked-out Ford oval. It even comes with the signature Active Orange that’s seen on Tremor packages. Even the two front recovery hooks and the badges on the fenders, bedsides, and tailgate are finished in the same color.

The side profile looks mean, too, thanks to the Raptor-inspired off-road fixed running boards and the big shoes. The F-150 Tremor rides on 18-inch matte-finish wheels wrapped in 33-inch General Grabber all-terrain tires. Thanks to these, the truck now boasts of better angles.

The approach angle is rated at 27.6 degrees, the breakover angle at 21.2 degrees, and the departure angle at 24.3 degrees.

The rear bumper features cutout high-flow dual exhaust pipes and two recovery hooks.

Ford has continued the Active Orange theme inside the cabin too. It is reflected on the stitching on the seats, on the center console, and the doors. Even the instrument panel has orange highlights. To keep up with the off-road essence of the package, Ford has equipped a six-position auxiliary power switch pack that’s mounted in the overhead console. You can use switches for off-road winches, air compressors, and off-road lighting.

What Powers The 2021 F-150 Tremor?

The F-150 Tremor will be powered by the 3.5-liter, V-6 EcoBoost engine.

In the previous F-150, the engine used to churn out 375 horses and 470 pound-feet of twist, and in the Raptor, it used to make 450 horses and 510 pound-feet of torque. For the 2021 model, Ford struck a balance between the two iterations. It now dishes out 400 ponies and 500 pound-feet of twist. Power is sent to all the wheels via a ten-speed automatic gearbox.

The Blue Oval has upgraded the suspension system, too. The front and rear springs are retuned to increase the ground clearance and accommodate bigger tires. It features Tremor-specific monotube shocks at the front and twin-tube shocks at the rear. They are tuned for softer damping at low speeds and additional damping for more off-road scenes. The rear travel is increased by 1.5 inches at the front and one inch at the rear when compared to the standard 2021 F-150.

The F-150 Tremor also features selectable drive modes. These include Normal, Sport, Tow/Haul, Eco, Slippery, Deep Snow/Sand, and Mud/Rut modes. There is a Rock Crawl mode as well, which automatically engages the rear locking differential, turns off stability and traction control, reduces throttle response, adjusts shift points, and displays the available 360-degree camera view on the center screen. Why not offer a Sasquatch package too? *wishful thinking*

Furthermore, the F-150 Tremor comes with:

  • Locking front and rear differential
  • Optional Torsen limited-slip front differential
  • Torque-on-demand transfer case

The towing and payload capacities are impressive, too. They are rated at 10,900- and 1,885 pounds, respectively.

What Else Is There On The 2021 F-150 Tremor?

Just because the truck is off-road-oriented doesn’t mean it’s barebones. Ford is offering many technology features and equipment on this truck, most of which are optional:

  • 360-degree camera
  • Ford Trail Toolbox
  • Trail One-Pedal Drive
  • Trail Turn Assist
  • Hill Descent Control
  • Trail Control
  • 2-kW Pro Power Onboard generator

The 2021 F-150 Raptor is yet to be unveiled, but after seeing the Tremor, it looks like Ford is going to hit the Raptor out of the park. The Tremor is supposed to slot between the FX4 package and the Raptor, but it comes with an exhaustive list of off-road equipment. Ford hasn’t revealed the Tremor’s price yet, but has said that it will be available from the summer of 2021.
