While the F-150 and the F-150 Raptor saw a generation change last year, the Super Duty series will do with a modest refresh this year. Currently in its fifth generation, Ford decided to give it a second refresh, which suggests that the next-gen could still be at least a couple of years away. The 2022 Super Duty series comes with new appearance packages, new color combinations, and a few tech upgrades.

2022 Super Duty Exterior

On the outside, the truck still looks the same. There no changes made to the stock products, but Ford has introduced a couple of appearance packages. The Lariat Sport Appearance Package includes:

-* Body-colored bumpers, wing mirrors, and grille,

-* Chrome exhaust tip

-* Black platform running boards

The other package is the Black Appearance Package that is available on the XLT trim. This includes:

-* 20-inch Ebony Black wheels

-* Body-colored front and rear bumpers, and grille bars

-* Six-inch Ebony Black running board

-* Blackened-out Ford logos at the front and back

The highlight, however, is a new Atlas Blue Color that is added to the existing palette.

2022 Super Duty Interior

On the inside, the truck comes with some tech upgrades. On trims above the Lariat, the Super Duty comes with a 12-inch touchscreen on the center console. It runs on the SYNC4 infotainment system. The system supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The XLT trim that sits below the Lariat features an eight-inch touchscreen, whereas the base XL comes with a 4.2-inch touchscreen. Both of them are powered by the SYNC3 infotainment system.

Apart from this, Ford has introduced a few themes for the interiors. The Lariat trim can be had with a Baja interior, whereas the Limited trim can be had with the Navy Pier and Light Slate interior.

2022 Super Duty Drivetrain

Ford has carried over the same three engine options for the 2022 Super Duty. First up there’s the 6.2-liter, V-8 gas model that makes 385 horsepower and 430 pound-feet of torque. In the F-250, it is mated to a six-speed automatic gearbox, whereas in the F-350, it comes with a 10-speed auto transmission.

Next in line is the 6.7-liter, V-8 Power Stroke turbo diesel engine that produces 475 ponies and 1,050 pound-feet of torque! Power is sent to the wheels via the 10-speed automatic gearbox. Finally, there’s the big 7.3-liter, V-8 Godzilla. It churns out 430 horses and 475 pound-feet of twist and is paired with the 10-speed auto transmission.

2022 Super Duty Pricing

The Super Duty Series includes the F-250, F-350, and the F-450. It starts from $34,230 and goes all the way up to $91,125 for the 2021 model. The 2022 model could see a small price hike, probably a few hundred bucks, but nothing too high.

Conclusion

If you’re sticking with the stock trims, there are no changes on the outside. The appearance packages seem to add some sort of pizzazz to the work trucks and could sell in good numbers. Ford hasn’t announced the pricing for these packages yet. The company mentioned that the 2022 Super Duty will be available from summer this year and the Black Appearance Package will be available from fall.
