What's Special About The 2022 Explorer ST RWD and ST-Line?
Ford has significantly expanded its Explorer lineup in response to the intense competition that it now faces in the three-row SUV space, from the likes of the Jeep Grand Cherokee L,Toyota Highlander, and Kia Telluride.} They've already added an off-roading package called Timberline, as well as a Platinum Hybrid trim and a King Ranch trim. The ST trim level has been offered by Ford in Europe for many years, but it wasn't until last year that the Edge acquired this performance variant as the very first U.S.-spec ST.
But. why exactly would Ford give us this new variant? Well, Ford says, not everyone, it seems, requires AWD.
But, there’s got to be Explorer buyers out there who only want the visual appeal of the ST, but can do just alright, without the extra horsepower. Well for all such folks, Ford’s got you covered with the Explorer ST-Line. Equipped with a 2.3-liter EcoBoost engine, this new variant produces 300 horsepower and is mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission. RWD is currently the standard configuration for SUVs, with optional 4WD.}
The Explorer King Ranch and Platinum variants get the ST's upgraded twin-turbo 3.0-liter V-6 with 400 horsepower; previously, they had a 365-horsepower version of this engine.
The bodywork of the Explorer ST-Line "mirrors a fully equipped Explorer ST," according to Ford. The SUV includes:

These new ST and ST-Line variants, certainly do a great job of offering more from the Explorer line up, by giving most buyers a visual treat in the form of cosmetic updates, minus the performance bits. The 2022 Explorer ST-line, sits between the XLT and Limited variants and is $7,570 lesser than the standard ST.
