Ford is not at its first special edition paying tribute to the GT’s landmark moments in motorsports history. In fact, the new GT Holman Moody Heritage Edition is the ninth - and last - in a series of special cars, out of which two are still in production. It all started in 2006 with the unveiling of the 2006 GT Gulf Livery Heritage Edition, and continued until 2022 when Ford already unveiled the GT Alan Mann Heritage Edition and the GT ’64 Prototype Heritage Edition.

What's special about the 2022 Ford GT Holman Moody Heritage Edition?

As mentioned, the new Ford GT Holman Moody Heritage Edition is the final special-edition paying tribute to the GT40 MK II race car that completed the famous 1-2-3 sweep at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1966. It honors the GT 40 driven to victory by Holman Moody at the 1966 Le Mans.

The new GT Holman Moody Heritage Edition is finished in a signature Oxford White with the number "5" stamped on the doors, hood, and rear wing - just like the 1966 Ford GT40 raced by Holman Moody. The white paint is combined with elements made from exposed carbon fiber: the 20-inch wheels, front splitter, side sills, mirrors, engine louvers, and rear diffuser.

The new set of wheels is also combined with a large set of Brembo brake calipers lacquered in black with silver graphics.

The same carbon fiber treatment continues on the interior where it was applied to the door sills, console, and registers. And, speaking of the interior, Ebony Alcantara was used for the seats, the steering wheel, the instrument panel, the pillars, and the headliner. A very nice contrast was obtained by using gold accent stitching on the seats, black Ebony on the instrument panel, and, of course, black stitching on the steering wheel. Gold paint was also used for random appliqués on the instrument panel, door register bezels, and seat X-brace. The same "5" logo is applied to the door panels.

The new GT Holman Moody Heritage Edition will be on display at the 2022 New York International Auto Show next to the 1966 Ford GT40 MK II. The special edition will only be available for approved Ford GT customers, and the first deliveries will be made in the spring.
