UK's police force is going electric! After many enquiries from UK police forces, Ford developed a specially-built Mach-E concept car. it will be on display at the Emergency Services Show, at the NEC, Birmingham on 7-8 September, 2021.

The new concept car will be tested by the Metropolitan Police Force and police forces from Sussex, Surrey, South Wales, Dyfed Powys, Devon & Cornwall and Police Scotland forces.

The first concept car was built on the Mustang Mach-E Standard Range AWD (all-wheel drive), but Ford plans to build another version of the Extended Range Mach-E, in both RWD and AWD versions. This decision was of course made in order to offer a better range to the police forces.

In developing the concept car, Ford had to pay special attention to electricity usage. We all know that the blue lights, sirens and other high-tech equipment use a lot of electricity. But Ford found the solution for that: all these equipment take power from the vehicle’s 12V battery and not the drive battery.

The concept also comes equipped with bespoke mounting pods and brackets that ensure best usage in any conditions, with minimal damage to the vehicle. Also, the concept is the first vehicle to use high specification material to maximize day and night visibility.

And last, but not least, the concept wears the traditional UK police livery.
