With Ford introducing the EcoBoost F-150 Raptor, we witnessed the end of an era. The end of the V-8 Raptor era. Some, however, weren’t exactly thrilled with it. At all. People wanted the Raptor V-8. Luckily, thanks to PaxPower, they’ve got it. The Houston-based company took the Ford F-150 V-8, slapped a supercharger to it, installed all OEM 2019 F-150 Raptor parts on it, and called it a deal. It is now up to me to compare the two, although, it seems that PaxPower did not leave me a lot to compare here. The PaxPower Raptor has all the bells and whistles as the real thing - only with far more power and better performance.
Ford To Invest In Microweather Technology For Autonomous Cars
Ever wondered what will happen to the autonomous cars when the weather conditions are bad? What if it’s raining and your self-driving car gets cold feet err., cold tires? Ford has given it a thought and invested in a company called ClimaCell. ClimaCell specializes in "microweather" technology capable of tracking location-specific, short-term weather patterns; and it has caught Ford’s attention. The Blue Oval recently participated in a Series B funding round that raised $45 million for ClimaCell.

Ken Block Is Building Another Escort Cosworth for His 2019 Cossie World Tour
Ken Block made headlines earlier this year when he unveiled a stunning Ford Escort Cosworth RS fully prepped for rallying. The American promptly rolled the Escort RS during the New England Forest Rally and, following the crash, the Ford burnt to a crisp. Now, Hoonigan Racing announced that a new Escort will carry Block and Gelsomino in 2019.
We all know that besides making those crazy Gymkhana videos, Ken Block is an out-and-out fan of proper rallying. That’s why the American never misses out on a chance to try his hand around some special stages, be it tarmac or gravel, or even snow. He’s participated in a number of WRC events over the years in top-of-the-line Ford and Subaru machinery, as well as competing in the Rally America championship.
Brock’s latest project was turning a classic Ford Escort Cosworth RS into a full-blown rally car as a tribute to the Group A-spec rally cars of the mid-to-late-’90s. His original Cossie was crashed during the New England Forest Rally, and it erupted in flames almost immediately. The car was destroyed, but Block and Gelsomino weren’t hurt. Now, they’re aiming to bounce back stronger than ever!
Volkswagen Could Share its EV Platform with Ford
Last week Bloomberg published a report that the Volkswagen Group and the Ford Motor company are looking to collaborate to create self-driving vehicles in order to reduce development costs on both sides. It was definitely a change as the two companies’ initial tie-up announcement was only supposed to involve commercial vehicles - now it could be expanded with electric vehicle platform sharing too.
2019 Ken Block’s F-150 Hoonitruck
When Ken Block unleashed the original Hoonicorn back in 2014, we went just a little bit of crazy. And why not? With an all-carbon widebody paying homage to the ’65 Mustang, a race-spec AWD system, and 845 horsepower from a 410-cube race-spec V-8 with velocity stacks rising more than a foot out of the hood, it was pretty much the perfect machine for grabbing eyeballs on the Internet. Now, Block and the Hoonigan team have once again managed to one-up themselves. The latest is called the Hoonitruck, and it’s bigger, more powerful, and crazier than the original Hoonicorn.
Like the Hoonicorn, the Hoonitruck took about two years to build. This time around though, the machine is “based” on a 1977 Ford F-150. And by based, I mean the Hoonitruck employs the same general shape as the factory pickup. That’s it though, as everything else is custom-built to put on a tire-killing speed show. The Hoonitruck is now headed for a starring role in the tenth iteration of Block’s über-viral Gymkhana video series, but until then, read on for all the details on this wild new smoke factory.
2018 Superformance Future GT Forty
Here’s the latest Superformance classic-looking Ford GT40. The American masters of continuation GT40s unveiled at the SEMA Show the Future GT Forty prototype which draws its inspiration from both the original 1960s GT40 Mk. and the modern, Le Mans-winning, V-6 Ecoboost-poweredFord GT GTLM race cars.
The South-African Superformance company has been building painstakingly accurate GT40 recreations for over a decade and a half. Their cars are officially licensed to use the GT40 name and even eligible for the GT40 register, which means the Blue Oval fully approves of these beasts.
This latest model, presented after an 18-months-long buildup in the MagnaFlow booth at the SEMA Show, features the same livery as the 2017 GTE-Pro Le Mans-winning Ford GT built by Multimatic and a host of aerodynamic and mechanical upgrades that increase the GT40s prowess around any race track.

Silly Ford Thinks it Can Take On the Porsche Panamera With a Four-Door, V-8 Mustang
Yes, the Mustang will remain the only car the Blue Oval will offer on U.S. soil, but the legendary pony car might spawn a number of models, including a four-door coupe-style sedan that aims to match Audi’s A7 or Mercedes-Benz’s CLS Class.
We’ve heard just about anything that could’ve been heard about the upcoming Mustang-styled crossover. But during that same meeting with the dealers that Ford organized, the company threw in the mix some hints towards a potential Mustang sedan that could be outfitted with a turbocharged V-8 engine.

2019 Ford GT Carbon Series
The second-generation Ford GT was launched for the 2017 model year as a revival of the limited-edition supercar that the Blue Oval first produced between 2004 and 2006. The modern GT is also a tribute to the original GT40 from the 1960s and marked Ford’s return to endurance racing. Following a handful of special-edition model, Ford created the Carbon Series, a lightweight version of the standard GT.
Fitted with an extended range of carbon-fiber parts as standard, including wheels, the Carbon Series is nearly 40 pounds lighter than the regular GT. It also features extra carbon inside the cabin, as well as customized seats and a dashboard badge. Is it more powerful? No, but the fact that it’s lighter makes it a more nimble car on the race track.
2019 Series 1 Ford Mustang RTR
Ford has brought the Series 1 Mustang RTR Powered by Ford Performance to the 2018 SEMA show, but unlike most other special Mustangs on display, it’s actually going to sell 500 examples come early 2019. Its creation is the collaborative effort of Ford Performance and RTR Vehicles, the company owned by world champion drifter Vaughn Gittin Jr. and is a mix of elements from both.
Is This Really the 2020 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500R?
Can we believe what we’re seeing? We’ve barely gone past the news that an image of the 2020 Ford Mustang GT500 was leaked and now the GT500R too? It would be too good to be true.
Last week, we were unexpectedly hit with the news that the new GT500 based on the S550 Mustang has been sneakily photographed during a dealer presentation. It featured the same dual white stripe over blue livery as seen in Ford’s official overhead sneak peek shot, so we think that that is the real deal.
However, we’re not so sure about the GT500R, since we don’t even know if and, if yes when an R version will come for the GT500. We know the GT350 was offered in R form so it would seem natural that its big brother sees a similar treatment, but nothing’s been confirmed yet.
