2021 Ford GT Heritage Edition
Ford is once again reminding its customers that buying a GT is the closest thing to getting your hands on a piece of motorsport history thanks to a new special edition. It’s called the Heritage Edition - of course it is - and it’s a nod back to Ford’s 1966 Daytona 24 Hour Continental race win.
2020 Ford GT Liquid Carbon Edition
Big news from FoMoCo on its supercar. It’s still powered by the same 3.5-liter twin-turbocharged EcoBoost V-6, but for the 2020 model year, power goes up from 647 horsepower to 660 horsepower. Torque stays unchanged (550 pound-feet), but it’s now available within a broader band.
2005 Ford Shelby GR-1
Ford rebooted two of the cars that brought about some of its biggest victories ever scored on the world’s road courses. First, in 2004, Ford introduced the Shelby Cobra Concept, a modern reinterpretation of the mythical AC Cobra and, one year later, the Cobra Daytona Coupe was reborn through the GR-1 prototype.
It was 14 years ago that Ford released the S197 fifth-generation Mustang. Its old-school styling proved to be a hit among customers young and old, but the Mustang was only the tip of the iceberg, the model that made it through all the board meetings. Ford, in fact, built a number of old school-looking concepts in the early ’00s besides the Mustang and the GT that eventually got the green light. There was the 2001 Forty-Nine which harkened back to the smooth lines of the late ’40s Ford Custom, the F150 Lightning Rod and, then, there was the GR-1. Clearly, nostalgia was trendy a decade and a half ago.
This car, like the open-top Shelby Cobra Concept, is underpinned by a modified Ford GT platform made to suit the front engine layout. It went from a sketch on a drawing board to a full-size clay model displayed at the 2004 Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance in virtually no time and was then built as a fully-functional prototype in time for the 2005 North-American International Auto Show. Then, it all went silent. The suits didn’t approve another high-performance supercar right after the GT and only recently have we heard of plans to revive this special one-off.
2018 Ford GT ’67 Heritage Edition
It’s hard enough to get your hands on a Ford GT. The ultra exclusive model is sold out over the next four years, which just so happens to be the full life cycle of the supercar. All told, Ford only plans to build 1,000 examples of the GT, amounting to just 250 units per year. So yeah, getting a Ford GT this late in the game is next to impossible. Imagine what those odds will be then now that Ford has released a special livery for 2018 models of the Ford GT. Yup. I don’t like your chances any more than I like mine.
Ford’s new treat for future GT owners is called the ’67 Heritage Edition. If the name itself sounds familiar, that’s because Ford has already released something similar last year. Remember the ’66 Heritage Edition? It’s almost the same as the ’67 version in terms of where they’re inspired from, but in the end, they’re actually two different interpretations in part because the new version pays tribute to the 1967 Le Mans-winning Shelby-American Inc. team that featured racers AJ Foyt and Dan Gurney. Considering that Ford’s success in Le Mans with the original GT40 spanned four years, we could be in store for two more Heritage Editions in 2018 and 2019. For now, though, the spotlight is focused on the ’67 Heritage Edition and the way its treatment is inspired directly from the GT40s that took the checkered flag during the 1967 Le Mans season.

2017 Ford Focus RS by Mountune
Mountune may not have the most famous name in the aftermarket tuning circle, but don’t let its relative anonymity distract you from what the tuner is fully capable of. We already saw what happens when it gets its hands on the Ford Focus RS. It did so last year with Ford Performance and managed to squeeze out 375 horsepower and 376 pound-feet of torque. Now it’s back with a bigger and better upgrade for the hot hatch as calls for a 400-horsepower Ford Focus RS have finally been answered.
The scope of Mountune’s new modifications for the Focus RS covers a lot of ground as far as mechanical upgrades are concerned. There’s very little in the way of aesthetic enhancements, so customers are advised to find them elsewhere, be it from Ford or another aftermarket company. Nevertheless, the program’s lack of versatility shouldn’t be held against it, not with the promise of incredible power and performance. Take this kit from Mountune however you want to, but rest assured, this is as "no-nonsense" as any tuning program we’ve come across for the Ford Focus RS. It was developed for one purpose – power for ages – and the resulting numbers certainly speak for themselves.

2017 Ford GT
The Ford GT40 was a purpose-built car that was designed to put Enzo Ferrari in his place at Le Mans, and it did just that. Unfortunately, it was only produced for two years before being discontinued but, for 2018, Ford debuted the second generation that will be known as the Ford GT.
On the outside, there are plenty of hints that point back to the GT40, like the overhang at the front fascia and the air intakes behind the rear doors, but otherwise, the car is sleeker and looks much more modern and supercarish. Inside, the car is built for control and usability. The seats are integrated into the shell to give the drive a better overall feel, and the car features an adjustable steering wheel and pedals. There are two display screens and soft touch surfaces here and there. While it was expected to use a turbocharged version of the flat-plane crank V-8 from the GT350 Mustang, Ford decided to go with a 3.5-liter EcoBoost unit with twin turbochargers. No specifics have been provided as of yet, but it should deliver at least 600 horses.
The best news so far is the fact that Ford decided to skip going with an all-wheel-drive setup, and instead decided to stick with the traditional rear-wheel-drive orientation, making the new Ford GT a true driver’s car. All told, the new Ford GT is hands down, the best supercar to ever be developed in the history of the blue oval brand. With a legendary history behind it and modern materials throughout, the Ford GT is sure to recreate and surpass the Ford GT40’s success.

The growling Fiesta ST is finally arriving in American Ford dealerships! After a long run-up and many tweaks to the global three-door’s interior technology and body style, this five-door pocket-rocket is finally on the Ford order books with a starting price of just $21,400. A hot body kit and the 2014 Focus ST’s Rado Gray wheels with red calipers are available, as are Recaro bucket seats to keep you in place while pulling G-force in this monster go-kart.
Endlessly lauded by the English car mags, the Fiesta ST’s American debut was partially delayed by a Fiesta-wide nose restyle and revamp for this year. The two models launch together with deliveries starting in September to Ford dealerships nationwide – and both have an EcoBoost engine option for the first time.
The base Fiesta’s turbocharged 1.0-liter three-cylinder marks a first in this modern age of fuel economy, but still lags nearly two seconds behind the potent ST’s 1.6-liter turbocharged four-cylinder at the drag strip.
Power is only part of the fun with this flyweight sports car – the other half comes from its responsive cornering and impressive agility. Even the quickest luxo-barges like the Bentley Continental GT have nothing on the Ford when it comes to transient handling dynamics – like you need on the tightest of race tracks.
In this regard the Fiesta ST is indeed the most accomplished in a U.S. market class that also includes the Chevrolet Sonic RS and the new Kia Forte5 Turbo.

It was in France, in the mid-1960s, that the great American supercar came to life. A low-slung, mid-engined race car built to win the 24 Hours of Le Mans and chase Ferrari out of endurance racing. Ford’s main goal with the GT40 was to change performance-car history. And it did. The race car triumphed against the world’s best in endurance racing, placing 1-2-3 at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1966 and winning the legendary event for the next three consecutive years.
Some 40 years later, Ford revived the GT40 with a road-legal supercar that featured similar styling and a mid-mounted V-8 engine. FoMoCo wanted to name it the GT40, but a trademark owned by British company Safir Engineering, who built continuation GT40s in the 1980s, prevented it from doing so. Ultimately, Ford named it the GT, giving Detroit its first mainstream supercar in a very long while.
Production of the GT began in 2004 and lasted until 2006. Ford built 4,038 examples at its plant in Wixom, Michigan, short of the originally planned 4,500-unit run. Since its discontinuation in 2006, the Ford GT remained the only full-fledged supercar to come from Detroit until 2016, when a second-gen car is scheduled to hit the streets.

It’s been less than a year since the sixth-generation Ford Mustang arrived in U.S. dealerships, and the Blue Oval has already unveiled a few new features for the pony car. Meet the 2016 Mustang, a more customizable take on the redesigned muscle car, and one that revives a couple of classic trim packages, as well as one of the more emblematic features of the first-generation Mustang.
The sixth-gen pony may have been criticized by some fans for its new styling or the lack of the good ol’ live rear axle, but the fact that Ford made sure it carried design cues borrowed from the original Mustang kept the majority happy. For 2016, FoMoCo wants to take things up a notch by reintroducing two visual enhancement packages that were popular in the 1960s.
The update also brings the hood vent-integrated turn signals, also revived after a very long hiatus, as well as a couple of options that debuted on the 2016 Shelby GT350. Ford released a technology update as well, but only for Mustangs equipped with the Premium Package, one of the more expensive factory options. In fact, most new options and packages are only available for the EcoBoost and GT models, a hint that Ford is targeting buyers interested in the more expensive trims rather than the entry-level V-6. Racing is in the DNA of the Ford Mustang, and the sixth-gen version of the pony car isn’t wasting any time hitting the track. In the first quarter of 2016, Ford Racing is rolling out a new “road-race-prepared Mustang,” which in all likelihood will become the 2016 Ford Mustang Boss 302S. The Boss 302S won’t be cheap, but then again, racing is never cheap. Besides, for right around $90,000, Ford is providing a factory-built, turn-key race car and ready to take on numerous racing series such as NASA and SCCA including the Pirelli World Challenge (GTS class).
The Boss 302S is built in Flat Rock, MI on the same assembly line as the production-ready Mustang, but unlike the standard 2015 Ford Mustang, the Boss is only sold with a serial number – no VIN – and it is not street legal. Ford hasn’t released any details about the 2016 Boss 302S, but we do know that the part number for this car is the same as the 2014 Boss 302S meaning that with the exception of the new Mustang body, there shouldn’t be too many changes to the car’s racing goodies
With sales beginning early next year, it probably won’t take too long to see the 2016 Ford Mustang Boss 302S out on the track, but until then, here’s what we’re expecting from the car based on the info we know about the 2014 Boss 302S.

Launched in Europe in 2005, the Focus ST was the result of FoMoCo’s desire to join the challenging hot hatch market. Offered in either a three- or five-door version, the first iteration of the ST featured revised front and rear fascias and a number of exclusive features that set it apart from the regular Focus hatches. Under the hood, the ST carried a turbocharged, 2.5-liter, five-cylinder engine based on a Volvo design. Although the regular Focus crossed the Pond in 2000, the ST version remained a no-no for the U.S. of A. until 2013. As we head into 2015, ford has unveiled a refreshed version of the peppy hatch.
The current model, which we can now purchase at any Ford dealerships, switched from the five-pot to a 2.0-liter inline-four. The turbocharged unit packs even more power, sending 252 ponies and 270 pound-feet of torque to the wheels. With all that power under the hood, the Focus ST not only sprints from 0 to 60 mph in a nippy 5.9 seconds, but it also returns up to 32 mpg on the highway.
Coming into 2015, the Focus ST is receiving its well-deserved refresh and gaining all the revised details seen on its milder, sedan brother.

The Ford Falcon has been in production since 1960, and since 1972, it’s been entirely a product of Australia — designed, developed, and produced entirely separate from the U.S. It holds the position of Australia’s best-selling car, and sells with a variety of engines and trim levels. Over the last seven generations, more than 3 million of them have been sold. That’s a lot of Falcons. They even produce a Ranchero-like ute version that takes the awesomeness to a whole new level. Heading into 2015, Ford is releasing a new performance version of the Falcon, dubbed the FPV GT F.
Sometimes, I swear Ford is just trying to make its customers in the United States jealous of its customers in Australia. Sure, they gave the U.S. a much more capable Focus than was previously available, the tiny-but-flickable Fiesta, and a number of quite enjoyable ST models, but even so, it seems like the Australians have all the fun.
Even as the Fusion and Taurus improve leaps and bounds over their predecessors, neither sedan is offered with a V-8, and neither is rear-wheel drive. The Australian Ford Falcon, however, comes with both rear-wheel-drive and an optional V-8, which makes it much more desirable than the Fusion or even the Taurus in the United States. If you want tail-out fun from an American sedan, then the Ford Falcon is one of those cars that you know you love, but you know you can’t have.
To make things worse, Ford has just introduced the Falcon-based 2015 FPV GT F, a 5.0-liter, V-8 monster of a sedan that makes more horsepower than a Mustang GT and still manages to have the capacity to drive your friends down to the neighborhood pub.
If you were jealous of the Ford Falcon before, the 2015 FPV GT F will leave you even more jealous than before.

We are about to witness the birth of a “brand-new” Mustang, as Ford will reveal the new "Pony car" to world on December 5, 2013. A new era in the glorious history the Mustang will begin with the launch of the sixth-generation Mustang.
One name that can never be forgotten and has ever since been attached with all things Mustang is Shelby. We bet Carol Shelby would’ve been glad to add his personal touches on the new model. Having said that, Shelby American has just announced a range of performance upgrades for the 2014 Ford Mustang, giving the fifth-generation Mustang the sendoff that it deserves.
The latest set of upgrade will allow customers to experience first hand, the expertise of the legendary Carroll Shelby in performance tuning a muscle car that he dedicated his life’s work for.

Galpin Auto Sports pulled back the tight black car cover today on the eagerly anticipated 2013 Galpin GTR1 hypercar. Sitting on the grass of Pebble Beach right next to McLaren and across from Ferrari, the GTR1 has some big shoes to fill this weekend. Luckily, it’s a futuristic rocket of a supercar with a carbon-fiber shell over a mid-mounted, twin-turbocharged V-8 producing 1,024 horsepower.
Yessir, you read that right. And that is the conservative range of possibilities, with race gas taking the power count well past 1,200 horsepower. The original quoted number is the most elegant however, as it matches this exotic beauty’s $1,024,000 price tag. $1,000 per horsepower seems fair looking at the slinky GTR1 in the sunshine.
Available for orders now, the GTR1 is sitting pretty tonight and rolling on the show grass tomorrow. A futuristic take on the LeMans-style supercar, the GTR1 keeps the Ford GT’s delightful cockpit and tough six-speed manual transaxle to the back wheels. The power bump comes with a half-foot stretch in width and about a foot in overall length and wheelbase. The resulting road presence is something from the realms of sci-fi or supercar dreams.
The Galpin team deserves praise for delivering this fantastic marvel such a thorough exterior redesign as to make it original (versus the Ford GT). This is truly a bespoke hypercar, in a similar way as the McLaren 12C versus the McLaren P1.

It seems Europeans get all of the automotive fun, right? Well, Ford is about to reinforce that belief by unveiling the Mountune package for the already insane Focus ST.
This Mountune program does its power-boosting deeds by way of a handful of new components, including: a cast-allot inlet duct for easier breathing; high-flow sports air filter; larger intercooler for less heat soak on extended drives; and recalibration of the electronic systems. Buyers can opt to have the inlet duct and intercooler in silver or powder coated in black.
As it sits, the UK-spec Focus ST packs a mean wallop at 250 PS (246 horsepower) 360 Nm (265 pound-feet) of torque straight off the showroom floor, but Ford’s Mountune program jumps it to an incredible 275 PS (271 horsepower) and 400 Nm (295 pound-feet) of torque.
The power bump drops the Focus ST’s 0-to-100 km/h (62 mph) time from 6.5 to under 6 seconds. Additionally, the 31 to 62 mph acceleration time drops to just 4.9 seconds — a 0.8-second improvement.
The upgrade only takes about 90 minutes to install on the Focus ST and comes in at £1,225 ($1,852) for the silver components or £1,275 ($1,928) for the powder coated black components. This means a total investment of between £23,200 ($35,080) and £26,770 ($40,480), depending on the level of Focus ST and the Mountune kit chosen.
Unfortunately, there is no mention of this kit ever making it to the U.S. We can hope, right?
Ford expanded the 2014 F-150 lineup today, with the addition of a new F-150 Tremor version, which gives customers a model similar to the now-discontinued Lightning model. Unlike the Lightning model, this new Tremor package gets it power from two fewer cylinders and a pair of turbos.
The new Tremor edition comes only in the short-wheelbase, regular-cab F-150, giving it a sportier look. To add to its sportiness, it comes standard with the FX Appearance Package, which tosses in flat-black trimming, black badges with red lettering and body graphics. The model will sit on a set of 20-inch flat-black wheels to complete the exterior upgrades on this special pickup.
On the inside, the Tremor gets black leather seating surfaces with red perforations and red piping.
Under the hood, Ford installed a 3.5-liter EcoBoost engine that delivers a total of 365 horsepower at 5,000 rpm and a peak torque of 420 pound-feet at 2,500 rpm. The engine offers twin independent variable camshaft timing for improved performance and fuel economy. Sure, this engine is the same as any old EcoBoost-equipped F-150, but it has an extra twist in the back end that helps up the ante a little.
As standard, the Tremor edition comes with a 4.10 axle ratio, which is typically reserved for the FX4 4X4 and SVT Raptor models. Additionally, this rear end features an electronic locking differential for improved traction during takeoff. There is no mention of whether this is a 4X4 or rear-wheel drive, but we assume it is the former.
The Ram 1500 and Chevrolet Silverado are officially on notice to pump out something to match wits with this performance pickup. To date, neither brand has plans to launch a performance model in 2014.
The new F-150 Tremor will be put on sale this fall and prices will be announced later.

If our love affair with the Ford Raptor isn’t quite clear, please allow us to let you know that we think it is one of the most bad-ass trucks ever built. It not only has a 6.2-liter V-8 engine with a mean 411 horsepower and 434 pound-feet of torque that gets it to 60 mph in 7.1 seconds, but it is also built to handle some of the meanest terrain you could imagine driving a street-legal truck on.
Well, we apparently aren’t the only ones that fell in love with it, as a one was displayed at the Cipate Police Equipment Exhibition in Beijing, China. And this is no normal Raptor, as Haiqiao Industry removed the bed and put a massive RV-like cab on the backside.
So, why would a police vehicle need a cab? Well, this particular model is designed for long-distance border patrol in China. Inside this massive cab is a bed, so the officer can take a much-needed break after a long shift; a cooking set, so the patrolling officer is properly fed; and a set of red seats for taking a load of comfortably.
This Raptor isn’t all comfort either, as it comes with the standard police equipment, including: search lights, a light bar and a speaker.
What makes this even more interesting is that the Raptor isn’t even available in China. Nope, Haiqiao gets them shipped in on the “grey market” from California and dresses them up for the government. It seems odd for a Government to purchase grey market vehicles, but so be it.
This particular model runs 1.3 million Chinese Yuan ($211,500) and only the Chinese government can purchase them for now, but the company is debating opening up to the civilian market.

When Ford unveiled the F-150 SVT Raptorin 2010, it made a machine that few could have ever imagined. This pickup was not only a performer on the road, like its SVT Lightning predecessor, but it was also extremely capable off of the beaten path. Since its debut, we have seen a few updates, with the biggest being the dropping of the 5.4-liter base engine in favor of a 411-horsepower, 6.2-liter V-8.
Now with 2014 model year vehicles rolling out, we have been waiting to see what the new SVT Raptor has to offer. Well, the wait is officially over, as Ford has just revealed the 2014 Raptor lineup with the unveiling of the 2014 F-150 SVT Raptor Special Edition yesterday during the Motor Press Guild Luncheon.
The big question mark is whether the 2014 model year will include any changes or if the SVT Raptor will retain its current form, plus this special edition.

When Shelby announced that they were bringing two models to the 2013 Detroit Auto Show, a lot of us already penciled in that one of those models would be a custom-tuned Ford Mustang. The other one, however, was still subject to speculation with the front runner being some sort of derivative for Ford’s mighty sports hatch, the Focus ST.
True enough, those who thought it was the Focus ST were proven right when Shelby unveiled the Shelby Focus ST, a "budget-minded" performance vehicle for those who can’t afford the bigger and meaner Shelby Mustang.
Limited to only 500 units, the Shelby Focus ST is, as its name suggests, a souped-up Ford Focus ST that comes with a plethora of aesthetic and performance upgrades that’ll turn your already awesome sports hatch into one that has the stamp of approval from Shelby themselves.

Undisciplined drivers on the Australian roads now have a new reason to think twice before putting the pedal to the metal, as the highway patrol has just added a new Ford Falcon GT to its fleet. With 536 horsepower under the hood (up from the car’s standard 449 ponies), this is the most powerful police car to ever patrol Australian roads. These extra ponies are thanks, in part, to a bigger exhaust system and high-flow fuel injectors.
The car has been specially developed to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the NSW Police. It comes equipped with the latest radar unit, number-plate-reading technology and a suite of on-board computers that will make catching the bad guys really easy. In all, the Falcon GT police cruiser cost in excess of $100,000 and there is no mention of whether it will see actual police use, or just be a show car. We assume it will be relegated to the latter.
