The Ford Edge has been around since 2007 and its current generation debuted in 2015. But the second-generation Edge was getting a little, well, dull, so Ford has given the mid-size crossover a sharpening. This mid-cycle refresh for the 2019 model year brings revamped aesthetics, few minor changes to the interior, and a slew of active safety equipment. In fact, Ford is claiming the 2019 Edge comes with more standard driver assist features than any of its competition.
So what makes the Edge so technologically adept? Well, the standard safety features list is long. It includes Forward Collision Warning and Dynamic Brake Support; Pre-Collision Assist with Pedestrian Detection; Blind Spot Information with Cross-Traffic Alert; Lane-Keeping Alert; Lane-keeping Assist; Auto High Beams; and Hill-Start Assist. 2019 Ford Ranger
Well, it’s back. The Ford Ranger mid-size pickup has returned to the U.S. and in glorious fashion. The pickup made its debut at the 2018 North American International Auto Show in Detroit right beside the all-new 2019 Ram 1500 and Chevrolet Silverado. While it’s not the F-150, the 2019 Ranger will put Ford back in the mid-size pickup fight against the Chevrolet Colorado/GMC Canyon, Nissan Frontier, and most importantly, the venerable Toyota Tacoma.
The addition of the Ranger positions Ford as having the widest-spread pickup lineup in the world. Entries include the new Ranger, the half-ton F-150, the heavy-duty Super Duty lineup, and the commercial medium-duty segment with the F-650 and F-750 cab chassis.
Of course, the Ranger will have its work cut out; the Toyota Tacoma has long been the leader in mid-size trucks and the General Motors twins aren’t too far behind. Let’s see how the 2019 Ranger stacks up.

2019 Ford Mustang Bullitt
Arguably one of the most iconic Mustang of all time, the Bullitt returns into showrooms five decades after the original car helped make the best chase seen in movie history. It was 1968 when Steve McQueen drove a Mustang GT390 Fastback like there was no tomorrow on the streets of San Francisco in the "Bullitt" movie, which will celebrate its 50th anniversary in October 2018. To mark the event, Ford prepared a new iteration of the Mustang Bullitt for the first time since 2009. The car was unveiled at the 2018 Detroit Motor Show alongside the original version, and it’s the most menacing Bullitt ever made.
Set to go on sale in the summer of 2018, the new Mustang Bullitt walks in the footsteps of its predecessors. It’s based on the Mustang GT, it features a host of unique features inside and out, and it has a subtle appearance. But under the skin, the Bullitt packs a bit more oomph than the GT and delivers better performance. If Steve McQueen was still around, I’m sure he would’ve taken one home and maybe even use it for a sequel to the iconic movie. But unfortunately Steve is no more, so we’ll have to settle for the cool, Bullitt-inspired commercial Ford made for the car. Check it out below.

The 2019 Ford Mustang Bullitt Is Custom Exterior Done Right
Back in 1968, the movie classic Bullitt hit the silver screen, wowing audiences with an almost 11-minute car chase through the streets of San Francisco. Bullitt snagged the Academy Award for Best Film Editing in 1969, no doubt thanks to its raucous automotive battle between Steve McQueen’s green Ford Mustang and the baddies’ black Dodge Charger. Now, five decades later, the Blue Oval is resurrecting memories of the famous Bullitt Mustang with this custom special edition.
Now, normally we aren’t the biggest fans of special edition vehicles. They tend to over-promise and under-deliver, and rarely look all that great. The 2019 Bullitt is different. We love how this thing looks. In a world where wings and extra body pieces run rampant, the Bullitt keeps a style that’s clean and mean. And green.

Ford Edge ST Takes Detroit by Storm
The Ford booth was pretty crowded at this years Detroit Auto Show, and for good reason. Not only FoMoCo finally revived the Ranger pickup truck for the U.S. market, it also used the event to launch its first-ever performance SUV. With the recently established Ford Performance division having already delivered awesome cars like the Focus RS, Shelby Mustang GT350R, and the GT supercar, Ford decided it’s time to tackle the SUV market and commissioned an ST version of the Edge. The beefed-up variant arrives just as Ford updated the Edge for the 2019 model year, introducing both at the 2018 Detroit Auto Show.
OG 1968 Ford Mustang Bullitt Shows Up Alongside 2019 Mustang Bullitt; Gets Inducted into the National Historic Vehicle Register
The 2019 Ford Mustang Bullitt turned a lot of heads when it debuted at the North American International Auto Show. Turns out, it wasn’t the only Mustang Bullitt in attendance because it was joined by none other than the same 1968 Ford Mustang 390 Fastback that was used in the Steve McQueen movie of the same name. The ’68 Stang’s presence in Detroit wasn’t just for provenance; it was there to get inducted by the Historic Vehicle Association (HVA) into the National Historic Vehicle Register, becoming the 21st car to get bestowed with the honor.
It Didn’t Come To The Detroit Auto Show, But Ford Is Working On A Shelby GT500: Video
The 2018 Detroit Auto Show is now in full swing, bringing with it a glut of fresh metal hot off the presses. This is Motor City, hometown to the Big Three and birthplace of the greatest American muscle cars to ever hit pavement. All of which makes it the perfect venue to drop the new Ford Mustang Shelby GT500, right? Unfortunately, that’s not the case, as the Blue Oval decided to keep its new ultimate pony under wraps, save for the the above-featured one-minute video. Better than nothin’, though.
Composed of a series of close-cropped detail shots, the video gives us a look at the brake and wheel package, exhaust, front splitter, rear spoiler, hood louvers, side skirts, and headlights. All in all, it’s looking like the usual factory-tuned Mustang badassery, and according to Ford, the machine has the specs to match.
“With more than 700 horsepower projected, the supercharged V8 Mustang Shelby GT500 will be the most powerful street-legal production Ford ever, and twice as powerful as the original 1967 Mustang performance model.”
Look for it to make a splashdown sometime next year.

Six years. That’s how long it’s been since we had the Ford Ranger in our lives. It took some time and a set of fortuitous circumstances, but after waiting since 2011 for the Ranger to make its comeback in the U.S., Ford finally delivered. The Ranger is back, and it’s looking to reclaim its status as one of the best and most popular entry-level pickup trucks in the market.
New Ford Mustang Bullitt Is Mean and Green in Detroit
Rumored to make a comeback for many years now, the Ford Mustang Bullitt returns in its third iteration at the 2018 Detroit Auto Show. Based on the facelifted version of the sixth-generation Mustang, the new Bullitt arrives just in time for the movies’ 50th anniversary. Launched almost a half-century after Steve McQueen created the coolest car chase in movie history, the new Bullitt came to Cobo Center alongside the original car from 1968.
Showcased in a metallic dark green color that mimics the shade of the original model, the new Bullitt follows in the footsteps of its fourth- and fifth-generation-based predecessor, sporting an understated look, a number of exclusive features, and a retuned drivetrain. On the outside, it gets subtle chrome accents around the grille and front windows, a unique black grille, and the obligatory Torque Thrust wheels, this time around in 19-inch size. A set of red Brembo calipers completes the look, but it also gets the aerodynamic extras that come with the Performance Package. Color options are limited to the classic Dark Highland Green and Shadow Black.

2019 Ford Edge ST
Performance versions of SUVs and crossovers are just dumb. To put outlandish power in a top-heavy vehicle originally designed to haul people and cargo across foreboding terrain is simply asinine. In the last year, we’ve seen Chevrolet launch the Tahoe RST, Jeep launch the Grand Cherokee Trackhawk, and Dodge debut the Durango SRT. Now Ford is getting into the game. Just a single day after teasing a new ST-badged model, Ford has debuted the Edge ST – yes, you read that right.
It’s a 2019 Edge crossover with a 2.7-liter twin-turbo EcoBoost V-6 making 335 horsepower and 380 pound-feet of torque mates to an eight-speed automatic transmission and turning all four wheels. It rides on an ST-tuned suspension and offers optional performance braking package. How crazy is that?
But really, how crazy is that? In reality, it’s not. Think back to the late 1960s when muscle cars developed from ordinary sedans and coupes. Automakers like Ford (and all the various divisions under General Motors and Chrysler) stuffed increasingly powerful V-8s into cars that, just a few years prior, wouldn’t be out of place in your grandmother’s driveway. It seems the same is becoming true for SUVs. These mommy-mobiles are turning into the 21st century’s version of the Ford Torino, Dodge Dart, and Chevy Impala. And who doesn’t love a vehicle that can pull double duty doing family errands and tearing up the autocross course? Maybe performance SUVs aren’t so dumb after all.

Ford is Teasing a New ST Model but What is it?
A new Ford “ST” car is going to the Detroit Auto Show. That’s the good news. The bad news? We don’t know what it is yet. Ford did show a quick teaser video, inviting us to “STay Tuned” for an announcement in the coming days. There’s no telling what this new ST model is going to be because this is an unexpected development. Nobody had a clue that Ford was building something new, let alone one that’s carrying an “ST” badge. Fortunately, the Detroit Auto Show is opening its doors in the coming days so we’ll get our answer then. In the meantime, let the speculation begin.
2019 Ford Ranger Spied in Thailand
Ford appears to be mildly updating its current Global T6 Ranger pickup for 2019 in conjunction with the truck’s debut for the North American market. Though unconfirmed, these spy shots reveal a completely uncamouflaged Ranger wearing a different grille and sporting upgraded LED-encrusted headlights. It’s likely these same changes will accompany the U.S.-spec Ranger when it debuts ahead of the 2019 model year, possibly at this month’s Detroit Auto Show.
The likelihood of this spied pickup wearing the U.S.-spec front end is validated by a Reddit user who claims (and later verified) to be a Ford designer. Over 11 months ago the user said the U.S.-spec Ranger would be a facelifted T6 with a unique grille and headlights.
The current T6 Ranger was last updated for 2015, so a refresh for 2019 is highly probable. Making the U.S.-spec and global versions use the same parts would be an easy cost-cutting and logistics-simplifying move. Of course, the U.S.-spec Ranger will have slight differences, including left-hand drive, different license plate bracketry, and perhaps some different wheel and tire combinations. The 2019 Ford Ranger Likely Debuting At Detroit Auto Show
We know for a fact the 2019 Chevrolet Silverado and 2019 Ram 1500 will make their appearances at the 2018 North American International Auto Show in Detroit come January, but it seems Ford isn’t arriving empty-handed either. There is a very strong chance the all-new Ford Ranger will make its first public appearance.
The 2019 Ranger is a major milestone for Ford, having been absent from the mid-size pickup segment since discontinuing the last-generation Ranger in 2011. This new pickup will be larger than the 2011 Ranger found here in North America, as it’s based on the global T6 Ranger platform. It will compete directly with the Chevrolet Colorado, GMC Canyon, Nissan Frontier, and Toyota Tacoma.
Ford’s plans for a Raptor version of the Ranger are a poorly kept secret, but it’s unknown if that hard-core off-roader will debut as a 2019 version or come later. Ford has also been seen testing an FX4 version, which will slot between the standard 4WD Ranger and the Ranger Raptor.

2018 Ford F-150
Ford has reworked the F-150 for 2018 with cosmetic updates, new active safety systems, and some healthy powertrain upgrades. A new front fascia and modifications to the taillights and tailgate constitute the exterior changes, along with new wheel choices. Adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, and lane-keep assist are now present, too. But the biggest changes happen under the hood.
Ford has upgraded nearly every engine option. The base 3.5-liter V-6 has been replaced with a new 3.3-liter V-6 with more power and better efficiency. Both the 2.7-liter EcoBoost V-6 and 5.0-liter V-8 have been improved with more power. Ford’s 10-speed automatic now comes standard on all but the base V-6. Best of all, an all-new 3.0-liter Power Stroke V-6 turbodiesel joins the lineup. The 3.5-liter EcoBoost V-6 carries over unchanged, though it received a huge update for the 2017 model year. The same is true for the 2017 F-150 Raptor’s High-Output 3.5-liter EcoBoost. The F-150 is Ford’s biggest seller and highest profit-maker, so it’s completely understandable why Ford pays it so much attention. The current F-150 debuted for the 2015 model year, so it’s not really old. In fact, it still remains the newest full-size, half-ton pickup among the Big Three – beating the Chevy Silverado by a year and the Ram 1500 by six. Only the 2017 Nissan Titan is newer.
Update 08/09/2017: EPA estimates for the 2018 F-150’s fuel economy have been released. Efficiency improves for the base V-6, the 2.7-liter EcoBoost, and the V-8. Towing and Payload stats are also announced.

2019 Ford Shelby GT500 Mustang
Unveiled in December 2013, the sixth-generation Mustang introduced not only a new design language but also a brand-new platform that features an independent rear suspension for the first time since the pony was launched half a century ago. It also received an updated engine lineup that included a turbocharged, 2.3-liter EcoBoost engine and became the first Mustang to be sold worldwide. For 2015, the Blue Oval launched the Shelby GT350, the first performance-oriented version of the sixth-gen muscle car. Come 2018 and the mighty GT500 is finally underway.
Test mules were spotted outside Ford’s Dearborn development facility in Michigan as early as 2016, but 2017 brought an updated version on public roads. Sporting a number of features that are different from those seen on the GT350, the prototype came with many hints that we are indeed looking at a more powerful Mustang. The launch date is a mystery as of this writing, but the new GT500 could make its public debut by the end of 2018 for the 2020 model year. If this proves to be true, the nameplate will return after a five-year hiatus, and Ford will finally have a competitor for the Chevy Camaro ZL1 and even the Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat.

If You Plan to Haul More Than One Passenger, Don’t Buy the Ford Fiesta
I like to take in all of the little details, so when I was at Cobo in Detroit for the press preview days of the Detroit Auto Show, I made it a point to sit in just about every vehicle I could. Pictures are worth a thousand words, sure, but they can also be a bit deceiving as I found out when it came to the Ford Fiesta. I’ve always been big into hatchbacks, and the Fiesta has intrigued me in recent years, but as soon as I laid eyes on it at the show, I realized just how small this car really is. There’s nothing wrong with a small car as long as there’s enough room inside, but when it comes to the Fiesta, that just isn’t the case.
As a larger guy, I knew the Fiesta wouldn’t be that comfortable to me, but I didn’t realize just how cramped the rear of the cabin would be. To put it simply, there’s next to no foot or legroom back there. This made getting inside of the car through the small doors even more difficult, but still achievable. Once I was there, I found that there wasn’t a single position I could get into and actually be comfortable. At five-feet 10 inches, my feet were forced under the front seat and my knees embedded into the seat back – luckily, this model doesn’t have a plastic frame on the rear, or it would have been sheer hell. Moving the seats all the way forward yielded a little more room, but it still wasn’t comfortable, and it would have definitely put a damper on the comfort of the driver or front passenger.
But, it wasn’t all bad. The seat cushion and seat back in the rear was pretty soft, so that was pleasing to the back and rump, but outside of that, you couldn’t pay me enough to ride back there for any extended period of time unless it was absolutely necessary. And, if you weigh more than 250 pounds, you might want to bring some butter and a shoehorn, because getting out isn’t exactly easy. Up front, however, you’ll find that the seats are more than suitable for full-sized adults or those with a little extra meat on their bones. The seats slide back quite far for a small car; the seat belts had plenty of length, and the front was pretty comfortable to sit in. The doors are pretty small, so entering and exiting the vehicle isn’t exactly a breeze, but it isn’t really difficult either. Either way, if you have older kids, or plan to haul around your friends, do everyone a favor and buy something bigger – maybe the Ford Focus, for example. There’s significantly more room in that baby.
Top 3 Changes 2018 Brings to the Ford F-150
The venerable Ford F-150 is undergoing yet another transformation for the 2018 model year. It was just back in 2015 that Ford debuted a completely new F-150 that used an aluminum body, a stronger steel frame, a more car-like interior, and a new 2.7- liter EcoBoost V-6 engine. Now just three model years later, the F-150 again goes under the knife. So what’s different? Plenty – keep reading for the details.
The Powertrain – Ford has replaced or reworked every engine for the 2018 F-150. Well, that is if you include the all-new, second-generation 3.5-liter EcoBoost V-6 that debuted for the 2017 model year and carries over into 2018. Starting at the bottom, the old 3.5-liter V-6 is replaced with a more high-tech 3.3-liter V-6. This engine features direct fuel injection for a more precise burn and better efficiency. Ford says the engine should produce the same 282 horsepower and 253 pound-feet of torque as the outgoing 3.5-liter, but offer better fuel economy.
The 2.7-liter EcoBoost V-6 now enters its second generation, just like the 3.5-liter EcoBoost in 2017. It now comes with both port and direct fuel injection, reduced internal friction, and “improved robustness.” We’re guessing that last part includes beefed-up internals. Sadly, Ford did not spill the beans on horsepower or torque specs, but we expect it to make more than the first-generation 2.7-liter’s 325 horsepower and 375 pound-feet of torque, plus with better fuel economy. Even less information was provided about the 5.0-liter V-8, but Ford says horsepower and torque will significantly increase.
Of course, the biggest news is the addition of a 3.0-liter turbodiesel V-6. It will bear the Power Stroke name and is expected to offer class-leading horsepower, torque, and highway fuel economy. The Ram EcoDiesel currently has the title of 29 mpg highway. Ford should have no trouble hitting or exceeding 30 mpg. That’s because the Power Stroke will turn Ford’s new 10-speed automatic transmission. In fact, all F-150 engines will use the 10-speed automatic except for the base 3.3-liter, which will use the carry-over six-speed automatic.
Ford also made shockwaves by announcing the F-150 will offer a hybrid powertrain by 2020. No official information was released about the system, likely because the powertrain is still firmly locked in development. We’ll bring you more as we have it.

Bronco & Ranger Confirmed! Ford to Revive Icons in U.S.
Ford has officially announced the Ranger pickup and Bronco SUV will indeed return to the U.S. after an extended absence. The confirmation was all but expected as word of the vehicles’ return has long been rumored. Ford has not revealed any major vehicle-specific details, but the production timeline was announced.
Ford says the Ranger will fall into the mid-size pickup category and be “incredibly capable yet fun to drive.” It will hit showrooms for the 2019 model year, meaning Ford will debut the pickup in the coming year. Joe Hinrich, Ford’s president of The Americas, said this about the Ranger. “[The] Ranger is for truck buyers who want an affordable, functional, rugged, and maneuverable pickup that’s Built Ford Tough.”
As for the Bronco, Hinrich says, “[the] Bronco will be a no-compromise midsize 4x4 utility for thrill seekers who want to venture way beyond the city.” It will arrive in showrooms for the 2020 model year and will be classified a mid-size SUV.
Though no other information was given, it’s easy to speculate about Ranger and Bronco. Both vehicles will be built at Ford’s Michigan Assembly Plant in Wayne, Michigan. This means they will likely share a good majority of parts, including their platform, engines, transmission, and interior.
Since Ford is sure to use a body-on-frame design for the Ranger, it would make sense for the Bronco to ride on the same underpinnings. Combine that with Hinrich’s words about a no-compromise mid-size 4WD utility for thrill seekers, and the suspicion of a body-on-frame SUV is undeniable. Perhaps Ford has the Jeep Wrangler in its sights.
Possible powertrains include the F-150’s new 3.3-liter V-6, the 2.7-liter EcoBoost V-6, and hopefully, the new 3.0-liter Power Stroke turbodiesel. Perhaps Ford will also include the new 10-speed automatic transmission, as well.
