Mustangs in France are sort of a rare thing. That won’t be the case once the all-new global 2015 Mustang storms Europe’s beaches; but until then, Vaughn Gittin Jr. and the Ford Racing Team decided to welcome themselves to France by hooning around a race track in Lohéac.
Oh, but before the shenanigans begin, Gittin grabs a few French baguettes for lunch. He and his custom Mustang drift car slowly cruise around the small French town, garnering tons of attention from the locals. It’s probably the most reserved that Mustang has ever been driven.
Things take a drastic turn once on the track. Billowing smoke burns off the rear tires as the Mustang’s tuned V-8 screams with every throttle input. The long billet aluminum handbrake lever helps Gittin keep the ‘Stang’s back end sideways, making stunts like bashing baguette possible.

Trying to stop a Range Rover driving at a speed of 150 km/h (93 mph) is not always a good move. Three French police officers have learned it in the most tragic way, as two of them - age 32 and 40 - were killed and the third one, aged 54, was seriously injured.
First details suggest that the police officers were chasing the Range Rover for multiple infractions of the road. The police car - a Ford Mondeo - tried to block the SUV, which apparently had no intention to stop and the impact was of a "rare violence."
The Range Rover driver - age 22 - has a pretty hefty criminal record, as he was involved multiple small thefts and drug trafficking, and was arrested five times for driving offenses. Initial reports suggest that during this incident he was under influence and medical reports revealed 1.4 grams of alcohol per liter of blood, while the limit is 0.5 grams / liter of blood. He was also without driving license.
Back in the early 1960’s Bill Ford wanted to go racing at Le Mans to settle a score with Enzo Ferrari after the Italian racer suddenly backed out of a deal where the FoMoCo would absorb the Scuderia, and with it all of their competition cars. Thus is the story if the legendary Ford GT-40, which eventually won the historic race twice around the clock four times in a row from 1966 to 1969, dethroning the Italian stallion and making names for driving greats like Dan Gurney, A.J. Foyt, Pedro Rodríguez and Jacky Ickx.
A modern day interpretation of the iconic Ford GT will once again represent the Blue Oval at 2010 running of the 24 hours of Le Mans thanks to the Matech Competition team. The 24 Hours of Le Mans are as much a legend as Ford’s adventure at Le Mans. Now we need to prove that both the team and the car are ready for the unique challenge that is Le Mans. While a four-peat may be difficult to do in the 21st century, the Matech Ford GT will definitely have history on its side when the green flag drops at the Circuit de la Sarthe this June.
