2021 Ford F-150 Raptor
Six months after revealing the 2021 Ford F-150, Ford finally brought in the new Raptor as well. There was a lot of mulling around Ford introducing a V-8 to rival the 2021 Ram 1500 TRX. But, Ford decided to keep the standard Raptor clear and announced a new Raptor R that will feature a V-8 and take on the cocky Ram 1500 TRX.
The 2021 model year marks the third generation of the F-150 Raptor, and Ford has come up with some significant changes. For starters, you can now have it with 37-inch tires from the factory, which was unheard of in this segment. Then there’s the new exhaust system to make it sound sweeter. But, will these changes push the price of this V-6-powered truck dangerously close to a better-accomplished, V-8-powered Ram 1500 TRX?
2021 Ford Bronco V-8 VelociRaptor by Hennessey
The only chink in Bronco’s armor is the missing V-8 engine under the hood. Although Ford matched the Jeep Wrangler in every aspect, dare I say, even better in some, the lack of a V-8 will be a deal-breaker for some folks. However, aftermarket tuners have grabbed on to this opportunity. PaxPower was one of the first companies to announce a Bronco V-8 and soon many companies jumped the wagon. The latest one to do so is Hennessey Performance.
Hennessey has announced that it will be building a VelociRaptor version of the Ford Bronco with a V-8 mill that will churn out 750 horses. This will be a limited-edition build and will cost around four-times the cost of a standard Bronco. Is it worth it?
2021 Ford Ranger Tremor
Customers in the U.S. have been craving the Ranger Raptor since it was announced for other markets. Ford has denied giving the pleasure so far, but there is news of the Ranger Raptor finally heading Stateside when the 2022 Ranger arrives. Since that is still some time away, the Blue Oval has decided to give us a taste of what to expect by introducing the Tremor off-road package for the mid-size pickup truck. While it is no Raptor, it is a lot more capable than the existing FX4 off-road package. Ford has priced the package at $4,290, but the catch is that is won’t be available on all the trims.
1981 Ford Bronco Montana Lobo Concept
At the 1981 Chicago Auto Show, Ford unveiled a rather unusual concept called the Montana Lobo. It seemed too radical for its time and felt as though it was taken straight out of a sci-fi movie. It broke all the perceptions associated with a rugged off-roader like the Bronco. The company came up with this unusual concept to get in the flow with the growing popularity of smaller pickup trucks and SUVs. Although it didn’t make it to production and none of the ideas or design elements were incorporated in the future models, the Bronco Montana Lobo goes down in the history books as one of the most interesting concepts Ford has ever built.
2021 Ford Bronco by Saleen
It’s barely been a couple of days since the Bronco was launched but we already have aftermarket tuners pouncing all over it to give it their own twist. The first company to do so is Saleen Automotive. Saleen has already put out a kit for the Bronco that pays tribute to the old Bronco that took the Baja 1000 by storm back in the 70s. There isn’t a lot known about it yet, but from the looks of it, it seems pretty sweet.
1968 Ford Bronco Wagon by Jay Leno, Ford Performance, LGE-CTS, and SEMA Garage
With a modern Ford Bronco just around the corner, TV personality and car collector Jay Leno gave new life to a first-generation Bronco Wagon with help from Ford Performance and various aftermarket tuning shops. Shown to the public at the 2019 SEMA Show, this Bronco retains the looks of the original SUV, but it features modern underpinnings with a supercharged V-8 built by Ford Performance. The story behind the vehicle is quite interesting, as it was left for Jay Leno as a joke by fellow TV host Craig Ferguson. Leno kept the vehicle in his garage unrestored until he decided that it deserves a new life.
Various companies and shops contributed to the project, starting with Ford Performance, FoMoCo’s very own performance division. Kincer Chassis, Dennis Carpenter Ford Restoration Parts, SEMA Garage, and LGE-CTS Motorsports.
2019 Ford Ranger Rambler by RTR
Ford teamed up with RTR to tag-team the 2020 Ranger and has brought two fine examples to the 2019 SEMA show. One of those concepts was the Ranger RTR, and the other is the Ranger RTR Rambler. While the Ranger RTR is already up for sale, will the Rambler prove that it has what it takes to makes its way to the showroom floor? 2021 Ford Bronco II aka "Baby Bronco"
In March 2018, Ford unveiled its plans for the next two years, which includes many new models and a shift toward crossovers in the U.S. The bigger news includes dropping most cars in favor of SUVs, a hybrid version of the F-150 truck, and a revival of the iconic Bronco. The latter will be joined by a smaller sibling with similar boxy cues. A baby Bronco!
Described as a vehicle "designed to win a growing number of people who love getting away and spending time outdoors with their families and friends," the compact SUV was partially revealed in a teaser photo. In November 2018, photos of the actual vehicle leaked onto the web following a Ford dealer meeting. And based on what we can see, it’s aimed directly at Jeep. Specifically, while the new-generation Bronco will go against the all-popular Wrangler, the smaller crossover will take on the Renegade. There’s no official name for it yet, and details remain a mystery, but it could roll out by 2020.

Ford F-150 by RTR Vehicles
We generally see sports cars and hatches in any tuner’s garage. But nowadays, tuners seems to have taken a liking for pickup trucks as well. This one particular company called RTR Vehicles has been tweaking the Ford Mustang for over a decade now. The company has such a good reputation that Ford got into an agreement with them to sell RTR-modified Mustangs at Ford dealerships. Now, RTR has decided to add the F-150 to its lineup which will be also be sold through Ford. This product comes with louder exhaust notes and beefed up looks to differentiate itself from the standard F-150s. Do you think it will sell well?
2019 Ford F-150 SC 650HP by Roush Performance
Roush Performance is pulling out all the stops with its new tuning package for the Ford F-150. The program comes with upgrades and modifications to the F-150’s exterior, interior, engine, and suspension. It’s as extensive a kit as you can find for the Blue Oval’s popular hauler. It doesn’t come cheap, though. The price of turning the Ford F-150 into the Roush F-150 SC adds up to $22,999, and that doesn’t include the price of the base F-150 unit.
Reasons Why You Should Not Be Disappointed By Diesel Ford Ranger Raptor
One thing is for certain. The new Ford Ranger Raptor is cool, capable, and off-road ready right from the production line, and it’s definitely an interesting proposition even for big-truck-loving Americans.
Sizewise, it is a truck similar to the Colorado ZR. “Characterwise,” it is a dune-fighting fun machine designed for the most intense off-roading tasks. While we in the U.S. are still waiting for Ford to confirm that the Ranger Raptor will come, the rest of the world is basking in the greatness of the potent truck. The thing is that the Ranger Raptor for the rest of the world is actually powered by a small diesel engine - not something that’s very popular here, is it?
While I am among those who believe the Ranger Raptor in the U.S. will get a 2.3-liter EcoBoost, I have to tell you a number of reasons why you should not be disappointed even if we end up with the diesel Ranger Raptor.
2018 Ford F-150 VelociRaptor 6x6 by Hennessey Performance
How do you make a Ford F-150 Raptor any more awesome? Hennessey Performance has a great answer – stick an extra axle under an elongated cargo bed then add 150 horsepower. Hennessey is no stranger to making outlandish vehicles with insane levels of power. The Texas-based tuner has done several Raptor upgrades before, and naturally, their bread-n-butter is adding more horsepower to stock vehicles. But this marks the first time a 6x6 configuration has been involved.
Mercedes started the 6x6 trend in 2013 with the G63 6x6. Since then, a handful of aftermarket companies have followed those tracks. The idea behind the 6x6 setup is added traction, better payload and towing capacities, and shear badassery. One look at the G63 6x6 or the Hennessey VelociRaptor 6x6 confirms that. Hennessey can’t confirm how well the VelociRaptor 6x6 handles in the dirt, however. The first example already has customer money on the hood. It’s also the same truck Hennessey took to the 2017 SEMA show. With SEMA over, Hennessey had only a few days to ship the truck to its owner in Florida.

2017 Ford F-350 “The Operator” By Hellwig
We love it when a builder goes just a little bit of crazy, creating something over-the-top, but only just. This extensively modified F-350 from Hellwig is exactly that. Dubbed “The Operator,” Hellwig started with a stock 2017 Ford Super Duty F-350 Lariat Crew Cab, then added upgrades until it had created the “ultimate recon adventure vehicle.” The most obvious thing to pick out is the large UTV this truck is hauling in its bed – or rather, above its bed might be more accurate. But there’s more to it than just that. “From recon runs in the desert to family camping trips in the dunes, the Operator is capable and comfortable,” says Hellwig, and we believe it. In addition to the usual off-roader gear outside, there’s nice stuff inside the cabin as well, plus a few choice upgrades under the hood to round it out.
All told, while the UTV certainly has our attention, it’s the little details in this build that really impress us. Hellwig didn’t neglect a thing in building its idea of “ultimate,” and in the end, we can’t help but stand back and admire the handy work.

2017 Ford Ranger Black Edition
Ford is headed to the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show and is bringing an impressive lineup with it, one of which is a special edition of Europe’s best-selling pickup truck, the Ford Ranger. It may not look the part at first glance, but the Ford Ranger Black Edition is just that, thanks in part to a limited production of just 2,500 examples across the continent. Of course, it comes dressed in black, hence the name “Black Edition.”
It’s fitting that Ford is bringing a special edition Ranger with it to Frankfurt. The pickup, after all, is regarded as Europe’s best-selling pickup, a title it has earned after posting record sales this year, including 23,100 units sold in July 2017 alone. What better way to celebrate the Ranger’s status than by dressing it up, slapping on new exterior detailing, dialing up on the standard features, and then showcasing it at one of the world’s biggest auto shows. It’s a good move that adds an extra layer of intrigue into the Ranger Black Edition, even though there’s not much about the pickup that counts as an “exclusive” other than the selling point of it coming in “all black” garb. Still, it should make for an interesting vehicle in Frankfurt. And considering the Ranger’s popularity in Europe, Ford shouldn’t have any problems selling the 2,500-unit inventory of the special edition.

2019 Ford Ranger Raptor
The Ford F-150 Raptor was supposed to be a specialty truck designed to last a few model years before being retired. That was in 2010. To Ford’s surprise, the desert-running truck struck a nerve and people lined up to buy them. The Raptor jumped generations with the 2015 F-150’s switch to aluminum body panels, returning to showrooms for the 2016 model year. Well, Ford decided to capitalize on the Raptor’s success and capability by extending the same hard-core off-road tech to the mid-size Ford Ranger pickup.
Debuting for the 2019 model year, the Ranger Raptor is wider, taller, and rides on Fox Racing Shocks and all-terrain tires similar to its big brother’s. Ford also decided the Ranger Raptor needed its own powerplant, electing to design and build a 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbodiesel that makes a respectable 369 pound-feet of torque.
Ford’s initial debut of the 2019 Ranger Raptor happened for the Asia Pacific market that includes countries like China, Thailand, India, the Philippines, and Australia. The U.S.-spec model is expected to debut in the coming months, if not weeks.

First Ride: 2017 Ford F-150 Raptor
Out of the 70-plus trucks and crossovers at the 2016 Truck Rodeo put on by the Texas Auto Writers Association, the 2017 Ford Raptor got the most attention. This event, after all, was the first time any journalist had access beyond static displays at auto shows or press images and videos. Sadly, Ford wouldn’t let anyone behind the wheel other than its in-house hotshoe from Ford Performance. Nevertheless, I was among the first outside Ford to experience the second-generation Raptor’s off-road capabilities.
Ford had set up a high-speed course in a hay field along side the vehicle staging area at the Longhorn River Ranch, TAWA’s new location for its annual truck and SUV event. The grassy field provided plenty of rolling hills and sharp ridges over its sprawling acreage, perfect for the Ford driver to show off the Raptor’s handling abilities.
Upon startup, the high-output 3.5-liter EcoBoost quietly rumbled to life with a distinct noise that could only come for a V-6. The driver, Ford’s Seth Goslawski, slid the 10-speed transmission into drive and keyed the Terrain Management System into Baja mode. The truck automatically put itself in 4WD high and cut back its ESP and traction nannies. Seth punched the throttle and the truck shot forward in a surprisingly non-dramatic fashion given the slick grass still wet with morning dew. Much that can be credited to the 35-inch BFGoodrich All-Terrain T/A KO2 tires.
